Right. I can't see a way they could do them all that well since they would either be repeating the same characters or having a limited selection of repeatables. There really is only limited choice and I couldn't see them doing it.

LEGO LotR - general discussion
Godless-Mimicry replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A part of me still expects there to be a Lothlorien set based on the creation in the LoTR video game bonus level, even though this existed before wave 2 and it wasn't part of that. Some of the above sets are fine, but I wouldn't want those sets that are basically all figures (it is lego after all; I want to build something), and I would personally prefer some more variation other than sets all based on what happens in Gondor in film 3. Thankfully the waves never seem to be geared toward a certain movie. -
[MOC] Hræfnesburh (Ravensburg)

Excellent. I'd love to be able to do rock faces like that; I always get stuck half way through and half to break for ages before coming back to it. Always takes me weeks to finish them, and the still never look as good as yours.- 13 replies

I agree. We didn't see the likes of the Blacksmith or mini-Balrog last time around.

Are you going? I had planned it for this year but don't think I can afford it now.

What I exactly said is he's supposed to play a bigger role, coming into his own. 'Coming into his own' are the exact words Boynes used in your quote, and given that he has been given a mention unlike the other 3 dwarves in Lake Town, I'd say for now that's a bigger role than previously. Furthermore if he is the one that starts the rift with Thorin due to his experience, and that rift is a major plot point, then that at least makes him more important than the other three. So from what we've been told so far (very little) he at least has a bit more reason to be in the kit than Oin, Fili, or Kili. Not sure how what you quoted is as drastically far off from my paraphrasing as ye are making it out to be. I know; I'm not the one on this thread complaining about that after all. That's mostly what discussion forums are about after all. I don't want to further derail the thread however or risk an argument over it, so I will digress and not post any further off-hand information. My apologies.

I disagree personally. Regardless of how accurate our knowledge of Bofur's role will be in TABA, it still has nothing to do with Lego, and we are still at the end of the day only speculating based on this information. 3 of the 4 DOS sets should show you a thing or two about expectations based on what actually happens in the movie. And to be fair, grilling me for a quote isn't going to progress the discussion any more than speculation would either. But that's just my opinion.

Let's be honest though; they would probably use it as an excuse to give us another Gandalf the Grey Though seriously, another cool build for with the Balrog, which would ironically include Gandalf, is the peak Zirakzigil and the ruins there. Maybe not iconic but it would look cool IMO. -
Honestly seeing that WIP shot makesit even better; it's very cleverly done.

I don't think Bofur is put out to be an angry character. I would see sympathy from him at Lake Town rather than anger.
-
I don't know where it's from, I just heard it through the grapevine. Why does it matter? This is a discussion, not a debate. But I think it was along the lines of Bofur will have a bigger role and come into his own during the confrontation in Laketown.

Glad to see this made the front page; very deserving.

Phillipa Boynes said Bofur will have a bigger role to play in the battle with Smaug, so I'd wager he'd be in the Lake Town set. Bain, Alfred and another Guard sound like fair bets on the rest, I agree.

Another thing I would mention that I find very helpful personally is using Lego Digital Designer to design my MOCs before committing them to brick. Not only does it help you experiment with different types of bricks and techniques to find what suits your needs best, but it also is an enjoyment all in itself.

LDD Brick Lists

Excellent Calabar, thanks you very much. -
Hi all, I've been working with LDD for awhile now however there is a function I've looked for but can't seem to find. I assume it doesn't exist however I figured I may be missing something so I'd ask. Is there a way to get a list of bricks used in a project in LDD? I use it primarily to design my own pieces, however making them in actual bricks is tough because once finished it is nearly impossible to find out what bricks are necessary short of going through every single page of the building guide and noting the pieces. Any and all help is appreciated. Cheers, GM.

Absolutely digging that staute; well done.

Got Riddles for the Ring today. Not a set I was ever excited about, but it was only €8 in Tesco so I figured why not.

I think many posters seem to be forgetting that there is a world outside the US. So I certainly wouldn't put the stock of a few stores in a few US cities to exactly speak for the world over. -
Hence this being the 'dream' license thread
