Where is that helmet from? Is it supposed to be a stormtrooper helmet?
-
I'm lost for words. This is, indeed, a masterpiece, and also a testament to the strength and integrity of Lego bricks. And, you don't want to know how much it would way if it had a complete interior. You'd probably need a helicopter to lift it, because I rather suspect that it would weigh more than most cars.

Who's got Benny's Spaceship put together already?
VK-318 replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Just bought my Spaceshipx3 last night at Toys'R'Us here in the States. Stayed up until 1:30 a.m. putting it together. I haven't put the stickers on yet, though. -
I think there might be something about the MOC-like nature of the Construct-O-Mech that gives it a nice boost, plus some great play features, and there's a lot of pent-up demand for neo-Classic Space sets like Benny's Spaceship! (...). The Police Dropship, while certainly a very nice model, lacks that odd vibe.

I like Smokebelch's version, personally, especially the hairpiece, which really does match Wuher's greasy look. Only trouble is that rakish grin; the scowl on the face with the dark brown sideburns is a little more real to life film in that respect.

So, in essence, the rule regarding custom stickers in LDD, for this episode only, is that they may be used so long as they represent a reasonable effort to replicated a sticker or printed part not available in LDD but demonstrably available in real bricks. Correct? (I thought it would help if somebody tried to condense the multi-post conversation on the topic to something more concise.)

My suggestion would be to replace the greebles that involve some sort of bar with a different kind of greeble. 1x2 rail bricks, jumper plates with their stud inserted into the hole of a headlight brick or 1x1 Technic brick, that sort of thing.

@BEAVeR - Well, maybe that safety vest (LDD part #3840) combined with a hood (either the standard or the Medieval Market Village variety) on a minifig with short legs and a normal body would work.

Oh. I guess it just doesn't show the way I expected in the render.

I don't think so. I believe that the implication was that while the Rebels could build anywhere, we Imperials were only supposed to build in the Endor system, which could include on Endor or in the Avenger and other craft located in that system. I suspect this freedom of locations is the bonus the Rebels were promised.

Try building something according to - gasp - the instructions! Seriously, build something from instructions or something that you know well enough to build in your sleep, so to speak. Then try to find a good way to make it better. That should get you started. Or you might try looking for some unusual pieces in your collection and try to make something out of them. I like to make micro-scale spaceships, and many of my most memorable builds started because I saw some unusual piece and wondered what I could build with it. Most of those odd parts never did wind up in the first build they started, and a couple of really difficult pieces have sparked multiple builds each and never been part of the final version of any of them, but that's unimportant.

If I were you, I would be very hesitant to greeble this. The sleek, suave look in white is very refreshing and quite pretty. Keep it like it is!

Nice model, very loyal to the original. If I might be so bold as to make a suggestion, you might try doing those dark bluish grey parts in titanium metallic instead, since they seem to be shiny in the reference image. Of course, whether or not you decide to do that would also depend on whether or not you want to give up another 30 hours to the render ...

Really great designs, must have taken forever to greeble them. The cruiser does look a little confused, though. It's not always clear what is a weapon barrel and what isn't.

I have recently begun Bricklinking parts for a MOC/Mod that happens to require some fairly rare parts and parts that have not been released in sets for many years. This project would not have been possible without Lego investors. On the whole, this has worked well; most parts cost only a couple of cents. A couple are so rare that they cost over ten dollars apiece. But - they are available, thanks to Lego investors who buy these sets and hold onto them to sell the parts later. Could this work better? Certainly I would like not to have to spend $50 on three dark red large motorcycle wheels. Certainly it would be nice to pay less for parts. But without these parts dealers, my project would be impossible, so I complain very, very quietly. There's no such thing as a free lunch: investing in Lego's has to be profitable for people to do it, so if we want to be able to purchase these parts after Lego discontinues them, we have to be willing to put up with investors.

[Review] Rebels Ghost (75053) and Phantom (75048)
VK-318 replied to Scott-S6's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nope, this piece has been around a while. Piece #2653, its first appearance was in 1991 as part of set #6542 Launch & Load Seaport. Its first appearance in (old) light gray was in 2000, in set #1355 Temple of Gloom. That groove is supposed to be a track for the rails of part #32028 and others like it. -

I own a 7662 MTT from new, and I think that this new set is definitely a downgrade. To my eye it is less accurate (though some others disagree) and less aesthetically pleasing; it has fewer play features; it is smaller, with a correspondingly smaller selection of minifigs; and the build appears to be less sophisticated. The only real redeeming element, for me, is that the selection of minifigs, while far smaller, is also far more diverse, with a Qui-Gon and a Theed Palace Guard. HOWEVER - if you are looking at this set as a parts collection to be used for MOC'ing, this new MTT is a significant improvement, since the last one was primarily a collection of Xx2x3 slope bricks and greebles, where this one appears to have a more diverse parts mix. Personally, I wouldn't trade my 7662 for this new one, but then, I don't do much MOC'ing in brown.

[SoNE V] - Preparing for the Mission - Hangar 29
VK-318 replied to goatman461's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I think what Bob de Quatre and MstrOfPppts are saying is that you have wasted some great freebuilds by jamming all these vehicles into the same factory. Since the entry is still technically a WIP, maybe you could change this by putting the TIE collection as a separate freebuild or freebuilds. Whether the hanger could, for instance, be judged with the episode or the freebuilds (but probably not both), and whether this reshuffling is even legal, is of course a question for the contest organizers, but I think I have translated what they want. No offense to anyone, but when many respected Eurobricks contributors have different first languages, it is sometimes hard for any given user to clearly state a suggestion to someone else without being blunt and equally hard for the recipient of such a comment to correctly interpret it. I hope no one minds if I continue to take up space clarifying like this. -
Nice! Those AT-AT's look familiar; are they Legostein's design? I do like the way this build has multiple levels, with the shuttle on a separate platform, and the forced perspective works quite well. But, I'm not sure that those round windows work. That seems like a very Rebel thing, and it looks a little out of place on an Imperial ship. You could replace each one with a pair of 1x3 inverted sloped bricks and a pair of 1x1 bricks, if you want.

I like that walker! Although it's hard to see how those blades can get at a tree trunk to cut it. Or maybe the walker is for shredding Ewoks; that would explain why the special operative is driving it. I do wonder if that tree is bleeding; I'm not sure what those dark red plates are for. Other than those nitpicks, it's a really good build. That big yellow ... thing somehow just feels right to me. Overall, I think it's a great build.
