I don't mind what Lego release whether it a electric, diesel or steam, I just want a set which will have both the 2x3 and 4x3 train window and the glass parts for the window, or even better that Lego sells bulk boxes of Lego 2x3 and 4x3 train windows in many colors like tan and white so people who want to build their own train and rolling stock will able to get the parts without paying for expensive parts like the 2x3 and 4x3 train windows as certain colors like tan and even white can and are often expensive to buy

Since I was last active, I have enrolled in the 16mm Association of Narrow Gauge Models and with the next year will be build two models railways of which one will be a Lego model railway and a model Railway at 16 mm scale using SM32 track to represent 2ft narrow gauge track, while looking at Locomotives options as I still need to buy or build my 16mm scale locomotive, this gave me a idea, why not try to build a Lego 0 Gauge scale version of my LNER A3 Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive which the design could be used to develop a 16mm scale locomotive using 32mm track to run on. Over the last view days I started to mess in Ml cad and LDD 4 to see if a chassis which will be able to run on 0 Gauge track, the proof of concept design was finished in LDD 4 this morning at 10 AM UK time The model when built will have a chassis frame 3 studs wide allow the locomotive wheels to be set a 32 mm Gauge to be able to run on 0 Gauge track, I also have worked out how to motorized the locomotive, the body I will build at 7 studs as this seems to a match for 0 Gauge Locomotive width. View of the new chassis frame with the gears set up allowing a easy way to motorize the locomotive. View of the new chassis frame showing the 3 stud wide frame and the distance between the frames and the trains wheels which need to be set like this to be able for the wheels to be set at 32 mm Gauge. The next step is to build a physical model and do a test once the Peco 0 Gauge track which I have ordered from Ehattons arrives in the post.

Moc Lego Steam Locomotive LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman
jamesed_1971 replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I decided to not to scrap the 8 stud version of LNER A3 Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive, and instead of doing the Gauge 1 scale Lego LNER A3 Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive as I found a snag trying to build to that scale, the main driving wheels would be need to 7 studs in diameter which would have to be custom made, so I am going to build a Gauge 0 scale Lego LNER A3 Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive as this possible I think - look for a new post- 24 replies

I say Bricklink is better, I have been a member of Bricklink since October 28th 2008, I estimate I have spent over £1000 in the last six years on Lego parts and sets, plus I have my own Bricklink store which is currently closed due a family crisis which arose April 2013

Moc Lego Steam Locomotive LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman
jamesed_1971 replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
At the moment I am thinking of not scrapping the 8 stud wide train and build a complete new build as gauge 1 scale train able to run on 45 mm track as the 4 stud wide chassis can be kept with the gear arrangement, i might have to add a second motor as it will be heavy. Until I buy some Gauge one track which in the UK retails at a minimum of £11.00, if I can build a working Lego Gauge 1 scale steam locomotive, then I be able to build a 16mm scale narrow gauge steam locomotive running on G45mm track.- 24 replies

Moc Lego Steam Locomotive LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman
jamesed_1971 replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I have decided to scrap my Lego LNER A3 Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive after building the model back in February / March this year, this is because of several things, one is Lego train track is very limiting with the tight curved track Lego make . two is custom Lego Track is still very short on supply and can be expensive, three is to make custom Lego train track is time consuming and expensive to make, four is the is a limited amount of space to add extra details. So I have decided to scrap and completely rebuild it as a Lego Gauge 1 LNER Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive size model which will be able to run on Gauge 1 track. The new Model will be longer, wider, and higher as it will be 88 studs / 2 ft, 3 1/2 inches long, 11 studs / 8.5 cm wide, 16 studs / 5 inches high- 24 replies

After my initial test, decided to redesign the sloping section so it is longer and higher (3x), in order to add the the middle and rear sections on top, but have been having trouble with the new section, as the panel will not go down all the way like it did when it was smaller length, the difference between the two the redesign is 216 studs in length and the section for the initial test was 76 studs in length. The is a gap of 1 brick high between the hinged section and the base, while in the smaller version, there is a very slight gap of halve a plate in height. The new section with the brick high gap at the front. The original section for the initial test with a slight gap at the front. A wider view of the new section A wider view of the original section Unless I can solve this problem, I might have to abandon the snot version and use slopes and try to add more detail somehow

four years ago I started on a new LDD Lego design of the RMS Titanic, over the last four years, the design was redone and improved to the point I was happy with the model. The LDD Lego RMS Titanic has 8520 pieces in the model and can be brought on Bricklink apart from two of the colors I have used in the LDD Lego RMS Titanic, the first color is the buff color of the lower parts of the funnels and the bronze / copper color for the propeller parts. (12/10/2014) Update. I am getting nearer to the point of actually building the model, as of today I have 4271 pieces of Lego in stock now ready to use A view of the ship from the right side view of the bow showing some of the detail close up view of the bridge and the front section of the titanic View of the stern showing some of the details a view of the boat deck on the titanic showing the life boats a closer view of the Titanic's boat deck showing some of the life boats Closer view of the bridge of the Titanic closer view of the bow of the Titanic, showing some of the details view of the three propellers on the Lego LDD Titanic (need to be customed alter to a three bladed propellers) close up view of the Lego LDD Titanic another close up view of the boat deck including the area between funnels 2 and 3 close up view of the front end of the boat deck including the area around funnels 1 & 2 view of the left side of the Lego LDD Titanic another view of the Lego LDD Titanic The Lego LDD Titanic is almost 10 inches wide, 6.6 inches long and almost 2 foot high.

Hi, over the last two years I have been designing a new Lego spaceship in LDD 4.3, the Lego model is based on Scorpio from Blake's 7 which was a British Science Fiction series which ran from 1978 to 1981, due to the limits of Lego It is a 80 % accurate, the roof lifts off to reveal the hidden flight deck. The model is 163 studs long, 70 studs wide, 42 studs high ( 50 inches long, 22 inches wide, 12 inches high ), and has 11,981 pieces of Lego Currently redesigning the LDD Lego Scorpio Model to use less slopes and more SNOT Techniques. The Big Ben Brick XL Wheels will be dyed green by using a vinyl dye, I might add some details around the wheels and on the wheel bogies, I don't think I'm able to add anything between the two bogies, or they wont turn probably, but once I made some of my custom Lego train track (the curves will be 4 foot radius) .- 24 replies

Before I used the modified Panels I left a hole one brick high and two studs wide for the Lego Power Function Lights to fit into, the white light could seen through the slight gap, that why I used two Lego Green modified panels to stop the white light being seen.- 24 replies

Peco Gauge 1 Rails or Peco Gauge G45 Rails
jamesed_1971 replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
There is a article in Railbricks 3 called Keeping 9 Volt Alive (page 20), where the author uses Peco Guage one rails and rail joiners to make custom track -
Hi, I am planning to make my own custom Lego Train Track by using 2x8 Plates for the sleepers / ties and Peco Gauge 1 Rail & Rail Joiners or Peco Gauge G45 Rail & Rail Joiners, I was wondering which rail is the same height as Lego train rails, Peco Gauge 1 Rail is Code 200 and Peco Gauge G45 Rail is Code 250.

Hi, over the weekend, I started work on building my new Lego LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive, as the final order from Bricklink arrived on Saturday, it took me a couple of hours to build the model, I had already built the chassis couple of weeks before The Lego LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman model is 19.5 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, just under 4 inches high, the front and rear lights on the Lego LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman work, two bricks behind the rear lights had to be modified to allow the power function lights to be used, the large train wheels are XL Big Ben Wheels The model just needs some extra details like pipes, lining, and lettering to be added, the wheels have to be dye green and other details to finish the model. I have taken new photos of my Lego LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman Steam Locomotive, including some other parts Couple of images showing closeup of the wheel hubs A Image of couple of modified Lego 1x2 Panels with Lego white headlights bricks A image showing the power function lights fitting into the modified Lego 1x2 Panels with Lego white headlights bricks a couple of images of the Power Functions Battery (AAA type) in the tender, show the wires packed around the battery box, Couple of Images showing the wire connections between the locomotive and tender A couple of Images showing the tender including the Lego Coal Pile (Lego 1x1 Black Plates) A couple of images showing the rear and front lights working, the second image is darker as the front lights don't show up well in bright light when on A image of the Flying Scotsman Tender with its wheel arrangement

I've decided to make my own track by using 2x4 Plates with Peco Gauge 1 Rails and rail Joiners, as I dont have a 3D Printer which in the UK costs £900 to over a £1000, plus the cost of the plastic ingredients I would need, the cost of making my own custom Lego Train track will cost £50 per 9 foot of track, I still have work out the cost of making points

jamesed_1971 replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Below is my selection now, The motor, controller and transformers are used and in working condation, as for the track, I only save a pound or two buying used, so I will buy new Lego 9 Volt Train Track. Black Electric, Train Motor 9V Modern (USED) £20.52 Black Electric, Train Speed Regulator 9V (USED) £3.50 Black Electric, Train Speed Regulator 9V Power Adaptor 240V (UK) (USED) £7.50 Dark Gray Electric, Train Track Contacts with Wire and 2 x 2 x 2/3 Brick (NEW) £7.29 4515 Straight Rails x 2 (16) (NEW) £40.94 4520 Curved Rails x 2 (16) (NEW) £15.56 Totsl Cost of above £93.31 I might look into making Custom Lego Train Track by using 2 x 8 Plates and Peco Gauge 1 or Gauge G45 Rails and Rail joiners (for making wide sweeping curves to handle longer Locomotives and Carriages (over 15 inches in length and less then 20 Inches) -
