[Petition] Save LEGO the Lord of the Rings
Trunkbass replied to Trunkbass's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's great!! Let's hope this helps! For people who want to do a little bit more: look at the most popular reactions of the petition and like your favourites. That way good quotes will come on top, and they can convince more people to sign or they can show LEGO what lives among fans.- 298 replies

Can Gandalf the Green or atreyu2112 pm Elessar on theOneRing.net with the details, if not already done so? If not, I'll make an account on theOneRing and try it myself. Thanks! I agree that we need to get many votes as fast as we can. It is probably already too late to get them to squeeze some LotR sets in 2015 and the license will probably be over in 2016... That's right, LEGO would not listen to that amount of people, we need at least five or ten thousand. Thousand votes is too early to contact them, in my opinion. That would be a great help indeed. Good news, the petition already has over 750 votes. I've put 1500 votes as the new goal. Let's get there as fast as we can!- 298 replies

[Petition] Save LEGO the Lord of the Rings

This is a valid point. Firstly, yes everybody could sign for their friends if they would want to and the only verification that I know of is email. But, I would highly advise against it. The beauty of this petition is that so many of the voters are really passionate about the topic. Just read the top ten comments on the petition page. I wouldn't do it because there is indeed a chance that the petition will be ill-reveived in some way. However the impact of such 'cheating', if done, would be rather small I suppose. Especially if we ever get to 10 000 votes. Imagine if everybody on this forum were to be asked to sign for all their friends (with email à nd location). How many would go through the trouble? Five? Ten maybe? That would mean around 500 votes extra (maximum) on a total of 10 000. Not that much, or at least not enough to use as an excuse for dissing the petetion as a whole. However we will not cheat. Share the petition with as many people as you can. Once we reach a thousand votes we can push it to the next level with the help of even more websites hopefully. Almost 700 now, who-hoow! I love LordoftheBrick :-)- 298 replies

WHOAH, I was already wondering why the votes are "skyrocketing" (okay, that's a tad exaggerated, but still..) today: look which popular website posted our petition on their frontpage here ! I knew my french skills would come in handy some day thanks for the other users who also sent them an email, it worked!- 298 replies

Great review, I really like how you show the number of different minifigures in your box. Puts things in perspective I guess.- 156 replies

Yes, I did the same with Lordofthebrick and Groovebricks, but to no avail for now... Maybe when we have 1000 votes, but it's going way too slow right now. Good news: we reached 500 votes today. Let's push this number even further! Sign and share the petition here, like us on Facebook here and share it with your friends!- 298 replies

Indeed, that's what the petition is for. To make clear we are not glad (euphemism) with their decision and they didn't do the Middle-Earth theme the justice it deserves. Of course there is a slim chance that the petition will get us another wave, but there is a chance and it's better than nothing. Besides, the time it takes to respond on this forum that it won't matter or that you won't sign it because you don't see the benefits is exactly (or even more than) the time it takes to sign the petition and maybe make a difference. It just takes a mere 30 seconds to sign it and another 30 to share it with your friends. At the least they could tell us why they didn't give us Gondor, if we have enough votes to make a statement. In better scenario's we will get one last set or wave. I will not give up hope, at least I when all has ended I will feel that I have done something to try prevent the theme from ending instead of just being pessimistic or indifferent.- 298 replies

Well, we almost have 500 votes and it has only been online for three days. That's not that bad, considering it has only been posted on 'niche'-forums (or small topics within forums) and stuff like that. Also, Facebook needs to get WAY more votes before it can work as a vote-booster, so if you haven't liked do it now. We need to get it to more mainstream sites or the frontpages of popular websites before it can get to 1000 or even more. To be frontpaged on Eurobricks would certainly help in my opinion. The greatest problem right now is visibility.- 298 replies

I was going to order one, but then I saw that Amazon.co.uk now charges for delivery (total 65 instead of 52), even when you're past a certain amount of money. This wasn't the case before. So a passed up on it. I'll be waiting for it to drop on the German or French amazon. Thanks for the tip anyway!

Great suggestions! For greater visibility in the future, I suggest all people post their suggestions on the Facebook page. That way we can bundle our ideas and when (and if) we get a lot of votes or likes and we send the petition and Facebook page to LEGO, they can find our requests. Good question! Is there anybody who knows this?- 298 replies

Thanks for sharing, hope it helps! That's something I also thought about, but how can we do this practically? Should I start a 'Donate to Paypal' campaign and use the money for ads on Facebook? Do you think there would be enough interest? It's 10 dollars do get 20 - 80 likes and it runs daily (so 10 dollars a day gets you 20-80 likes a day) until you end the ad campaign. You can also set a fixed date for it to end, so that if we would have a budget of 100 dollars before we start, we could run the campaign ten days for ten dollars a day and get 200 - 800 likes in total. Eurobrick members: is there animo for a Facebook ad campaign, possibly funded by a Paypal-donation system? Let me know what you think! Yes, the locations and brick-built creatures aren't much of a problem. It's the minifigures and molds (like helmets, shields, hairpieces and molded creatures) that we're missing.- 298 replies

Thanks for the support Deathleech! I agree that 1000 won't cut it, but it's really important to get to that number as fast as possible. From then on we might be taken more seriously by the bigger LotR and LEGO fansites, who in turn might post the petition on their frontpage. This could get us to the big numbers like you propose.- 298 replies

Thank you! I contacted Lord of the Brick, but no answer yet. I suppose we will have to get to 1000 votes first to gain credibility. Wow, that's really great! Let's hope this helps. Keep spamming people!! (already got me suspended on LEGO Ideas, but whatever it takes !) Thank you, and yes Facebook needs WAY MORE likes... Thanks! Thank you! Thank you, and yes, I think many here feel the same way... Thank you very much for all the sharing. I will add the sites to the 'already shared section' in the beginning of this topic. Let's hope this will get us to 500 as quickly as possible!- 298 replies

^ I totally agree. Nice analysis. I was also wondering about the brick/minifigure ratio when looking at the Dol Guldur Galadriel set (I refuse to call it Witch-King Battle, it hurts too much).

Congrats! I still need to pick up a MEA set.. I think it has been discussed here that LEGO doesn't hold the license for action figures. So without a buildable structure to go with the minifigures this is a no-go I suppose. It's a shame though, this would really be so awesome. Speaking about awesome, I don't understand why LEGO never made sets like these in the LotR theme: Just two good guys (Rohirrim, Gondor soldiers, elves, dwarves, etc.) versus two baddies (Uruk-Hai, Mordor Orcs, Moria Goblins, Haradrim, etc.) and some random structures. Surely the bricks/minifigure count would be enough to not count as action figures? In my opinion these would have sold like hot cakes!
