Peco Gauge 1 Rails or Peco Gauge G45 Rails
garethjellis replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thats a great article ! I like the idea of removing the studs and feeding the adjusted fish plate through the holes! I may even use that for my power functions! -
Thats an impressive model! how long is it?

I believe the "large rubber rings," are just like lorries and are air ride suspension bladders. The rubber balloon is filled with compressed air to give a smoother ride. http://toplinehb.com/wp-content/uploads/0611ch_05_z+schwartz_chassis+air_ride_suspension.jpg

Sorry if this has already been hashed out but... what is the maximum wheel distance apart that we can go of fixed wheels without the train jumping tracks? I am using the large flanged wheels as used in the Emerald Night. thanks

CUUSOO | Diesel Shunter with carriages
garethjellis replied to ashfordphilip's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Does it have power functions? Also I think the center wheel on the shunter will have a problem, it needs to float. -
These are some great models!

your idea would be a fun cuusoo project, I think a 5v voltage regulator will regulate any voltage above 5v so you wont get a voltage ramp. you will also need a fairly adequate heat sink to discharge the heat from the regulator best idea is to use a 5v transformer , hope that helps

Would this be a good guide to use then? (adjusted Tony's Theory) http://www.flickr.com/photos/116392714@N02/12307933053/

I just started to design the British Rail fleet from the 80's period, and wanted to start on a good width. I agree with you the 6 stud looks too skinny and tall
-
What is your preferred MOC width? 6, 7 or 8 stud?

I was late in the game in getting an Emerald Night, I am excited for it to arrive in a few days, I think your tender mounted PF motor is a great idea. Why do you have two cables running to the Engine?
