Very nice work! Also a good way to rebuild the toy story train. Nice era those civil war days for a railroad scenery.

Well, here is the first update. Another small underground module: a miner with a pickaxe. Here are the pictures, this time not upside down: The miner at work... As you can see he has a working light on his helmet. The small cable is not visible to the spectator. The whole module. It will be embedded in styrofoam plates so that a town can be built on top (and the above ground parts of the mine). Here is the video: !The servo makes a lot of noise (it is apparently a bit faulty, but it is a very cheap one so if it breaks down no problem to replace it).

Hehe, sharp find! I guess it is just up to your and our imagination ;) the Dutch promotion song from those days was: "You can make everything from LEGO", so I guess they lived by it!

Well, there are certain people that have successfully modded the long legs: With LEGO you never know...

Yups it would have been fun down under, but I guess some data from my phone caused it, the secret?!! Well I influenced her early on in our relation I guess ;) apart from that.. It is handy that she likes Lego otherwise the budget would be smaller I guess :)

Thanks for the comments lightningtiger, we are also on the verge of automating the narrow gauge trains. PArts are already working, but not everything is done yet. Of course we know the kids love animation, that is why we (my wife and I) do it after all...

Hi guys,I have been busy building parts for our display at LEGOWORLD 2012, Zwolle, the Netherlands. We still have 1,5 months, but we reserved quite some space so we also need to fill that ;)Here one of the sub parts. We will build a mining city with underground mining details like this: So one of the mine ways. We are serious, so really don't enter! Here is the blasting guy with a servo and a nylon thread attached to the detonator t-bar (I only needed to modify the round brick a bit). There also is a piece of hose underneath that is pushed back by the servo. So this is the railbike they arrived on. With a compartment for that nice TNT stuff ;) The blasting team has their own railbike. Of course safety is a large issue in mines so we needed to put up a lot of signs to comply with all those regulations ;) B.t.w. I don't know what happened, I see my pictures upside down (not at my computer or at the original source)... As you can see in the video, the blasting guy is animated. The end of the tunnel also lights up.

Maintaining Constant Voltage Around a Large Track

With DCC it is very common to have boosters, even with smaller gauge, so especially with L-Gauge! Check this: http://www.opendcc.de/index_e.html -

I can't save my HTML buding guide
JopieK replied to lego2012's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
But he didn't say "html building guide" ;) We might night to enroll lego2012 in a basic computer skills class first since apparently he doesn't know about creating folders. He might be from the DOS generation then he would talk about "directories" but I think a better guess is that he is from the Xbox generation ;) -
I can't save my HTML buding guide
JopieK replied to lego2012's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
well, first try to introduce yourself. Then after that try to create a nice story so that we can understand what you mean... I don't know what a HTML buding quide is b.t.w. and since I'm a computer science teacher that might be because you mean something different. -
of course it could! one could even consider using the new 1x2 jumper tile with something

Very interesting! Nice station but also a nice environment including the lorry!!! It reminds me of our own american civil war station for 'the general' Offtopic: And it seems to be that I'm a conformist according to the forum intelligence ;) but no wonder after 1100+ posts and no bans ;)

The windows of the loc are not that cheap though!

A Speculative Discussion on Pneumatic Locomotives
JopieK replied to Icosahedron's topic in LEGO Train Tech
The costs of a PF train aren't that high at all, giving that they built a perfectly working LiPo etc. Of course 60€ might seem expensive, but a LiPo always is and LEGO did a great job. It runs for quite a while with considerable trains and is difficult to destroy even when shorting it etc. -
It is not hard to make an IR booster or such a link. I have done that already using atmel uC's.

You know that zwiebel means onion in German?! ;) Welcome at EB.com anyways.
-
very nice set, funny review!!! I think those days were better for train enthusiasts.
-
Most of the time I do, either on paper or with LDD. It depends on what of course!
-
I totally agree, they even now and then withdraw parts that were in my opinion fine and needed!
-
This of course also is a good option for narrow Gauge track to combine the 12V / 4.5V style straight tracks with the quite new indy 4 wide gauge curved and up/down tracks .
-
Very nice, but: read the rules here! First it is a better start when you introduce yourself, also please make pictures smaller! You use a spoiler item so it is not as bad as posting them directly but still...
-
I totally agree with spzero, it probably is real LEGO! More roof bricks have this is my experience.
-
Well, since I used to teach tech students and still teach other students, I know myself and my kind a little ;) Lecturing keeps you remembering your own faults ;)

Good tip that Retr0Bright!
