Creating fanmade LEGO commercial is legal?
JopieK replied to JeagerEX's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Uhm, I think it would be best to contact the store manager or isn't that what you mean? -
I totally agree, I didn't see your post but also just posted this image in that other topic ;)

Very, very nice!!! They did a great job on this... Though I would have preferred the colors of the Thalys (gray and dark red). @locoworks, just READ before you post your message! No motor: "• Upgrade your model by adding LEGO Power Functions 8878 Rechargeable Battery Box, 8887 Transformer 10V DC, 8884 IR Receiver, 8879 IR Speed Remote Control, 88002 Train Motor and 8870 Lights" I guess no tracks either. The original one:

will they also be in Europe? No Toys 'R Us in the Netherlands, but what about Germany, will they carry it?!
-
Hi Patrick, good job! Looks very nice! B.t.w. shouldn't you consider 3D printing for those triangular signals? Are you also coming to LEGOWorld 2012??!

Indeed this technology is still too new and not applicable yet, especially at the high standards that LEGO has for its molds. I mean a breadbox is way more tolerant than a LEGO brick of course, that is why we love LEGO and hate (most) other brands.

Any opensource software?
JopieK replied to nana's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Well, building software with OpenGL is quite a challenge, I worked on that in 1999 I think. The LDraw community is indeed as Philo said the place to be for you I think. -
The size of the station depends on your scale! For minifigs the scale is different than for micro scale! So since you talk about a train layout, you should estimate the size to the heights and width of the minifig.

Well, no offence... They can print titanium with very high precision (I have seen and felt it with my own eyes/hands) you tell me this is impossible?!!! You are just a wise guy in stating it like this. Besides you didn't read my entire post.

The "I can't believe these are so expensive" red windows..
JopieK replied to LEGO Historian's topic in The Bazaar
They aren't that expensive are they? They are brand new, without scratches and one gets 10 of them?! -

Welcome @EB! Maybe you could even use a lasercutter to cut thin pieces of lexan or some other transparent plastics as windows?! -
LDD 4.3.5 is out
JopieK replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I like the update very much! Was beyond expectation!!! -
Well, not long from now they can print new molds. I have seen very accurate metal objects being printed already. And of course they can print LEGO objects but until now that is way to time consuming.

I don't believe "broken mold" stories (also with those cypresses), but who knows... Maybe trains and monorail are too much competition. I like that other project though it is quite large to build such a monorail, the original one was sturdy but also elegant.
-
Well, together with all your idea's I got it a bit further (thanks!!!): Maybe tomorrow I will post an update of the scenery. Now we are in the process of combining al modules downstairs. Turns out we have quite some space at LEGOWorld so we will still need to build a bit in the scarce moments that we have apart from work and study I guess ;) (b.t.w. don't think a lot of people have seen this particular Mine train truck :p
-
Very nice! I already saw it in your brickshelf. Too bad I need to work for my masters otherwise I would have certainly visited LEGO Fanwelt (also as a 1000steine Mitglied ;)). You have a good connection with Billund don't you?!
-
It is a nice idea, but from sources inside LEGO I understood that they don't want to reintroduce a monorail although kids love it (we had one on display some years ago at LEGOWorld Zwolle, Netherlands) and parents love it as well... B.t.w. better switches etc. are needed I think (remotely operated, but alas same thing with normal train switches of course).

Review: 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car
JopieK replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You can get the stickers @us. We are b.t.w. looking at getting a new sticker printer (but it costs quite a bit). Hopefully spring 2013, that way we will be able to make even better replications also for Maersk etc. -
What browser do you use? On my Mac using both Chrome and Safari the image insertion icon works just fine.
-
You did a great job there!!! Nice details, nice colors! Sand green will be almost impossible for such an items I guess?!
-
well, I do recognize quite some things... I don't think it will be easy to build this though!!! And the car from Horatio is quite big, but that is also in the movie version of course.
