Thanks Zblj! As regards your question, I really don't know....real bricks models are not my specialty.
-
Thanks! Thank you! I don't have any experience with real bricks building, with the exception of those Mixels that my little son loves so much. I'm just having fun with Lego Digital Designer and my main aim is to get my models decently rendered, nothing more. I used this type of joints : http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/48170 and http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/47455 I really don't know if they are strong enough to support such a big model but I guess they should be better than those ball joints I used in my previous models. Anyway, you can download this model here http://adf.ly/1IpH8H and see for yourself how it's made.

My new, big, fat ( maybe obese ) mecha : Madgun Wraithek ß. Started over a month ago with the head design, as I usually do, this is definitely my biggest model so far. Hope you like it!

Eli_je Whatever i'll do in the future, you'll see it here on Eurobricks or Mocpages. Anyway, I don't think it will be small and affordable.... -
[ LDD MOC ] Chroma S2 Ariel ( Gundam Style mecha )
matt_one replied to matt_one's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Eli_je Thank you for your appreciation! My current project, another Gundam, is bigger than my previous models. Look at this one, it's smaller and I think that it could be right for you ( if you like it, of course ) : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=105287#entry2125808 This is the link for Ldd file's download : http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/107138/1426069916m.lxf The following is the link to my Mocpages projects : http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/107138 Enjoy! -
[ LDD MOC ] Chroma S2 Ariel ( Gundam Style mecha )
matt_one replied to matt_one's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Eli_je Though I would like to build this too, I have to tell you that I've build this model only for fun ( I love to build with Lego Digital Designer, but I have not skills to build with real Lego ). The meaning of all my Lego creations is to have fun with LDD and to get photorealistic renders of them, not more, therefore they're not intended as really constructible with real bricks. This is not a small model, so I think that it should be very expensive to buy all that bricks. Furthermore, chosen colors might not be available, i.e. the two shells on the shoulders that are transparent only ( not white as shown in the model ), and the back of the head is only black. My concerns relate mainly to the robustness of the model and its ability to stand on its feet. I chose ball joints for all legs articulations, and I'm pretty sure that they will not be rigid enough to support the weight of the whole model. I chose connector peg with friction for the arms, simply because I saw other Lego Gundam ( real ) models of this size using such elements. But I've not tested them, since I haven't enough real bricks to make structural tests. I strongly suggest you to inspect the model with Lego Digital Designer and verify its feasibility. If you still want to proceed, I will be curious to see the final result. -

You're right! It should be in SCI-FI forum.... I made a mistake posting this while I was reading some topics on Eurobricks Ldd forum. I don't know how to move it, maybe it's not possible. -
Given the "huge" success of his previous posted S2 brother, I want to bore you with the latest arrival in the family (with whom it will be definitively closed). [ LDD MOC ] Chroma S2 Ariel ( Gundam Style mecha )
matt_one replied to matt_one's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thank you sparkart! Layers ( groups ) in LDD are very useful during building process, I couldn't do without them. I've uploaded a new version of LDD model with modified thighs. Now they are made up of two parts with a sliding front plate, so that they can rotate 90° upward. -
A new LDD model added to Chroma family. After S1 "Virya" and S3 "Polaris", here is the S2 "Ariel". Lxf file is available here : http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/107138/1424463807m.lxf

Thank you! This poor head was built 1 year ago and unfortunately has not a body yet.

[Software] LDD2PovRay
matt_one replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Since the new 1564.2 brickset was released, I no longer able to use Ldd2povray converter. It starts conversion then fail with this error message : "Unable to generate necessary includes. Part ID "73914" is not supported by the current brickset version." I know that Part ID "73914" refers to part #92235 ( DESIGN POINT W.D. STICK 3.2 ) but I don't know why, after a new installation of latest versions of Ldd2povray converter and POV-Ray, ldd_brickset_index file in POV-Ray installation folder refers to a previous 1392 brickset. There's anyone having the same issue with LDD2povray? -
Nice, I like it too!

Hi Phoxtane! We may already know each other, or am I wrong? After seeing your w.i.p. pictures all I can tell you is to look at the original Gundam's reference picture and try to get better proportions between body, arms and legs. Legs and torso in particular seems too short compared to the overall height. Again, look at the first picture you've posted today and compare arms and legs to the waist width : it seems that you need bigger arms and bigger legs. Legs and head design is nice and looking at the last picture, with right proportions this could turns out a nice creation. As regard the fallen top half, I have not any suggestion since my models would do worse if they were made with real bricks!

Thanks hachiroku! I'll find the time to make other renderings, though the head is not my favorite part of this project. It seems nice viewing from side, less attractive from front because eyes are not visible ( they are laid on a small 1x1 tile rotated 45° and I put decals on side faces). Anyway, you can find a large picture of the head at initial stage of the work, a month ago, on my Flickr photostream : https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5557/15306271056_b8b4d7cc61_o.jpg

Thank you Bacem! With "big" I mean its size and number of bricks. This is the smallest mecha I've made, others previous are bigger ( take a look at this one : ).

Thank you ZBL! I will share the file at Mocpages soon. You could build this one with real Lego bricks but maybe some parts are not available in colors as shown in these pictures. I don't know if it will be strong enough, anyway it's not a big model.
