  1. I do wonder how well these adult sets are selling given that Lego pump more of them out year after year. Absolutely wild that only 2 sets out of almost 10 2025 sets we know of are actually minifigure sets. However, if there is a silver lining to any of this, then perhaps it’s that this frees up space for a good volume of traditional system sets for 2HY25 without more buildables clogging things up. I genuinely enjoy the novelty of things like helmets, dioramas, droids etc. but at this point it’s just excessive.
  2. Obviously the R-rated stuff isn’t something Lego would compromise on, but you just know the Lego Superheroes team would’ve watched Deadpool and Wolverine and lamented at how good the set (or at least minifigure) potential was. I’d love to see that live action yellow suit for Wolverine in minifigure form at least at some point. Can’t wait to see the X-Mansion properly. Initially I was apathetic but knowing we’re also getting a Sentinel etc. in there has certainly piqued my interest.
  3. Yeah that was disappointing to see. I wouldn’t even be terribly mad that the design is a step down if it means they incorporate a Bat-Pod in there, but we know that’s too good to be true.
  4. Yeesh, Rebuild the Galaxy looks good. Heck of a cast too, I can’t wait to see it and am honestly eyeing the Dark Falcon now, especially as it’s already fairly discounted at Costco (fellow U.K. fans, don’t sleep on those Costco Lego deals). Like everyone else I am so excited for Andor S2, especially seeing that quite a few RO characters will be appearing which makes complete sense. Skeleton Crew looks pretty great too in my opinion, I understand the criticisms that the suburban planet looks a bit too familiar, but that very much seems intentional as an homage to the Amblin films as opposed to poor design work. As for the Mando film, the footage looks interesting thus far but after how much Season 3 meandered around, there’s a lot of work they need to put in. Focusing on the Imperial Remnant is definitely a step in the right direction though. I know it’s only August, but I can’t wait to get some more chunky information on what we can expect (for system sets) next year. Out of every licensed theme Star Wars is the only one where we know of literally only 2 system sets amidst a sea of buildables.
  5. I really hope these rumours are true, but let’s see what the reputable leakers say given that they’ve offered no comment yet. Some thoughts: - Does yet another RotS / late TCW Anakin really justify the price increase? Now if this is Anakin in his early Clone Wars armour with accurate colouring, arm printing etc. then I’m all for it. But a RotS Anakin should just come in a RotS set. Getting Anakin and Obi-Wan in their early Clone Wars armour is my final wishlist for Lego coverage of that era. - For some ‘synergy’ with the Ahsoka flashback scenes, giving a younger variant with the updated outfit from the early Clone Wars makes sense to me, even if canonically she doesn’t use an Eta-2 until much later. It would be awesome if Lego actually made a new smaller montral piece for her too. - If they really are revisiting the Eta-2 cockpit, then it’s about time! That ship and the Snowspeeder are both vehicles that have sorely needed significant overhauls for years at this point.
  6. On one hand, super excited for a buildable Chopper as that actually makes sense as a buildable set! On the other hand, my fears about Lego utterly losing sight of what actually makes Lego sets appealing in the first place continue to deepen. Thus far: - January is dominated by midi-scale ships and a buildable character. - March is (thus far) comprised of a buildable character, helmet, and buildable logo. And let's face it, we all know the summer wave will contain at least one or two buildable <things> as well. I'm sure the May / June waves (if they exist) will also be dominated by non-System stuff. It's genuinely sad to see at this point, and I doubt all of the buildable stuff have been phenomenal successes either. Another tidbit from Exabricks; no Acolyte sets have been planned.
  7. Not a Fortnite player, but that Battle Bus looks like a perfect set! The Peely Bone buildable also looks like an extremely well built model too. That said, what is the deal with only 1 of these 4 models being a minifigure-scaled set? This has become my new biggest pet peeve with Lego in 2024, it’s scary how much they’re shying away from traditional sets nowadays across their licensed themes.
  8. @MaximillianRebo Thanks for consolidating those numbers! It’s quite sad to see how not only has the number of LSW sets been decreasing year by year (not to say quantity necessarily correlates with quality), but they’ve become severely diluted by non-System sets too. I wonder if the number of buildable items will only continue to take up even more set slots in the coming years. I feel like this year has been a double whammy with the uptick in buildables coupled with the RTG sets taking up slots too. Apologies if this is off topic, but damn if 2018 wasn’t one of the best years for this theme. The follow up TLJ sets were fantastic, coupled with the phenomenal Solo sets rounded off with some nice OT builds too. The new battle pack looks brilliant, 3 Fleet Troopers against 3 Stormtroopers seems really reasonable and it’s the perfect way to cap off the 25th anniversary of this theme given how iconic the 2008 iterations were. I wouldn’t try to equate the value of this against this year’s Clones vs. Droids set given that a B1 / B2 figure isn’t the same as a ‘proper’ minifigure, but nonetheless hopefully the price lends itself well to army building. One benefit of this year’s lineup is that we’ve gotten a lot of iconic OT builds out of the way, with the X-Wing vs. TIE, ISD, and Dark Falcon (even though this is a non-canon variant, I can’t imagine another Falcon hitting shelves until this retires). Fingers crossed this means that more slots next year are free for some more interesting sets.
  9. Minifigure / system scale sets are the heart and soul of Lego and that’s probably a hill most of us would die on. It’s always fun when Lego switch things up by dedicating a set or two towards non-system builds if only for the novelty of it, but I definitely feel it’s become really excessive at this point. It’s interesting to hear all these anecdotes about how the buildable figures are selling. They shelf-warm everywhere I’ve seen them too, but the sales numbers probably speak differently.
  10. FINALLY, I can’t wait to see that ATSV set! Assuming it’s based on the film, that is.
  11. Really excited for that Tumbler! I know the part count is only a handful of pieces more than the 2021 version but if the design team found a way to squeeze a Bat-Pod into it, I would be so happy (especially given the humongous price increase since 2021). Given the buildable figure scaled Bat-Pod from this year, surely they’re aware that people would love a minifigure scaled one. I can’t imagine Lego refusing to cover anything for the Superman film, especially after the intense lull the cinematic side of DC has been in for quite a while now.
  12. With the new Imperial Supercommando helmet mould introduced this year, I can 100% see that being reused for Hunter at the very least. I’d be surprised if we don’t get another small TBB set next year. After marinating on this year’s summer wave for a while, it’s a fairly good lineup of sets but I still feel the first half of this year was far stronger than the second half. This is probably the first year where I only pick up a couple of sets from the summer lineup, but at least that leaves me some room to pick up the Milano and Great Deku Tree. I’m still wondering why the anniversary Leia figure includes Lola (with the droid even getting a specific shoutout on the Droid Builder box) but the Cal figure didn’t include BD-1. Part of me hopes it’s because a Jedi: Survivor set is planned for next year so Lego held off on pairing BD-1 with the Fallen Order variant of Cal, but I’m definitely deluding myself there.
  13. I mean, a monkey’s paw situation with highly desirable characters / variants indeed being produced by Lego, just not in minifigure form isn’t a new phenomenon with this theme, for example with the recent Iron Spider Brickheadz and Green Goblin buildable figure.
  14. This reminds me of the ‘well yes, but actually no’ meme, and I completely agree. Lego did way more to cover TPM than they did TESB in terms of number of sets, it’s just that only one turned out to actually be system-scaled with the rest being dioramas and buildables. That said, and even though I myself find this increased volume of buildable non-system sets to be extremely frustrating, I can’t imagine they take the place of more system-scaled sets (at least I hope not). I can’t imagine anyone on the LSW design team thinking ‘Yeah a Duel of the Fates set would be great, but let’s just do a podrace diorama and buildable Droideka instead’. Buildable logos sound boring, but more experimentation is to be expected at this point even though it seems like throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticks. I think we’ve all become accustomed to expecting the really good stuff from 2HY onwards anyway, and with the lull in content next year, hopefully it’ll be a good time for Lego to produce some in-demand sets from overlooked content. As much as my opinions on the RTG sets are mixed, I can’t wait for the show itself. Hopefully we’ll get another trailer fairly soon.
  15. Honestly, something like including a Clone Wars Anakin from Season 1-2 of the show with arm printing / new hair etc. is the only way the price-point for Ahsoka’s Eta-2 makes sense, and that’s only if we assume the higher price point is due to the set having something of additional value in it. Like you say, it could just be Lego pushing their luck the way they always do and there won’t be anything in the set beyond the bare minimum. Seeing the reviews for Jedi Bob’s Starfighter and the Onyx Cinder (it’s beyond ridiculous at this point that Lego refuse to just reveal the damn sets), both sets genuinely look awesome. I love the design and swooshability of the former especially, so will definitely be picking that up. The Cinder is the perfect standard for what a tie-in set to a piece of media should be; an excellent build that isn’t shrunken down and has a good interior, paired with a full cast with no glaring omissions. Lego really nailed it and it makes me hopeful that if we do get ships like the Stinger Mantis in the future, they’ll be done justice.
  16. Fair point, I completely forgot about the 2010’s ARC’s PPP when writing that! Reviews are popping up for the Dark Falcon on YouTube, I’m debating on whether to pick this up on sale eventually but the minifigure look great and the colour scheme really pops. It’ll align quite nicely with the Scythe and Kylo’s revamped Command Shuttle from 2019.
  17. I’m starting to feel quite fed up of buildable <things> occupying so many slots within most waves these days, but hey if they sell and diversify the theme’s product portfolio, then I guess I get it. But yeah, the absurd prices for the ARC-170 and Ahsoka’s Eta-2 will be slightly digestible if they offer some really good minifigures. I shudder at the precedent this continues to set for the theme though.
  18. We really aren’t that far away from $50 Jedi Starfighters are we? I shudder to think what price next year’s battle packs will be at. Glad to see the ARC-170 is coming after a 15 year hiatus, it’s definitely been in high demand. Hopefully a good opportunity to include a RotS Jedi minifigure like Plo Koon. At that price, Ahsoka’s Eta-2 better include Anakin or Obi-Wan in their Season 1 Clone Wars armour with arm printing etc. even if the ship canonically makes its appearance closer to their RotS looks. Of course we know that won’t happen. Jedi Bob’s Starfighter looks great, but the Ackbar Trooper seems like a lazy kitbash even if it’s show-accurate. Does it bother anyone that the novelty and zaniness of Rebuild the Galaxy’s characters are essentially locked behind the Dark Falcon only? It’s the only RBG set that actually seems ‘out there’, character-wise.
  19. @Alex_South Completely agree with wanting some more ‘iconic’ builds from the line. I always look to the Ghost and Scythe as particular examples where the builds are close to flawless and are some of the best Lego sets out there even even without the Star Wars label attached. 2025 rumours let’s gooo. There’s no way at least one of those sets isn’t based on the Acolyte, I’d love another Ahsoka set as well as we’ve seen from the follow up Mandalorian sets that they’re willing to piece them out over multiple waves. I’d be surprised if any of these sets are based on RotS as we’ve seen that previous anniversary tie-ins (TPM this year, TESB in 2020) usually release around summer time, but could be completely off the mark there.
  20. The funny thing about JFO / Survivor is that there are so many classic Imperial vehicles in the games that Lego could just release those, throw in characters from the games and that’d honestly be enough to make a lot of people happy, myself included. I sound like a broken record at this point but it’s honestly so disappointing that the only Cal Kestis we’re supposedly ever going to get is the half-baked one from the ISD. If that figure had the same effort put into it as the likes of Fives and Saw, that would’ve tipped me towards buying the set on day 1. @Mandalorianknight Totally agree that more sets from the show would be more than welcome, hopefully a battle pack in January is possible at the very least. @Alex_South Yeah for sure. I think they made a mistake allocating a larger slot towards the E-Wing vs. Fiend Fighter, as great as that set was, the price point should’ve been allocated to the T-6.
  21. I understand the critiques comparing this to the Obi-Wan vs. Vader duel set, but the build for this one is far better. The presence of the black and gold pillars really helps, but even the way the surface of the model is split into segments helps break it up rather than just being grey plates piled together. Totally agree it’s a winner of a set. I’d argue all the Ahsoka sets have been absolute winners though, it’s probably the Disney+ show with the best Lego representation at this point. The builds have been excellent and colourful as have the minifigures, and they easily surpass the Mandalorian Season 3 sets for me even though the June sets have been great. The only misstep IMO was the T-6 build being so small.
  22. Count me in as someone who got into the theme since the start as a kid / teenager! It's been great to see Ninjago be a truly evergreen property for Lego, it's like a 'comfort' theme for me and I think it's time to binge watch the earlier seasons again. I've been dipping in and out since 2020 as I feel the Master of the Mountain sets were some of the best this theme has ever had and what we got after that hasn't lived up to that, but still bought the occasional set here and there since then. This year's been the first time I've really jumped back into Ninjago as the sets have honestly been great across the board; nabbed the Dragon Stone Shrine, Kai's Climber Mech, Cole's Titan Dragon Mech, and the Tournament Arena Battle. I really wanted to like the Tournament Temple City as I've been wanting for a big display piece ever since selling Ninjago City / Docks / Gardens, but I think I'll keep waiting for the inevitable Ninjago City expansion. @Fenghuang0296 I haven't built the Titan Dragon Mech set yet but from an aesthetic point of view, I definitely agree with a lot of your points. Going by reviews the set excels when it comes to scale and articulation, but looks-wise it definitely is a little lacking. I do hope future mechs that seek to top this one can combine the strengths of this mech and achieve a visually striking appearance like Jay's Titan Mech does.
  23. After not buying any Star Wars sets all year, I cracked in early June: 75372 - Clone Trooper and Battle Droid Battle Pack 75373 - Ambush on Mandalore Battle Pack 75379 - R2-D2 75383 - Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator 75387 - Boarding the Tantive IV 75386 - Paz Vizsla and Moff Gideon Battle 75391 - Captain Rex's Y-Wing Microfighter (gah, this should've been a playscale set...) And thankfully the Leicester Square Lego Store still had abundant copies of the Battle Droid Carrier, which was a really nice bonus! Now I await the summer wave
  24. I've seen this theorised in quite a few places and honestly, something like this would make a ton of sense. We've actually been spoiled with Stormtroopers and Rebel Troopers this year across so many sets which is great, so I hope next year's battle packs lean towards something fresher like the Night Troopers and Enoch. Given that the Onyx Cinder was first supposed to release in January this year prior to the release date shake-ups, I wouldn't be surprised if some Acolyte sets are pipelined for next January. Not personally expecting much, but I'm hoping helmeted Qimir, Sol, Jacki, and either Mae or Osha at least get minifigure representation. Even a single duel set with some trees and a clearing on the scale of the Peridea set would be perfect. Fingers crossed Jedi Bob's Starfighter gets leaked properly, it seems asinine waiting until SDCC to reveal this when the set releases in less than a month.
  25. Solid points, I still think the Spider-Man side of things peaked in 2016 with sets like the Bridge Battle, Ghost Rider Motorcycle, and Doc Ock mech. Even those sets were aimed towards children, yet unlike most of the modern Spider-Man sets they don't come off as creatively bankrupt (as much as I dislike using the phrase) in terms of both the inspiration behind the sets as well as the minifigures themselves. Now it's just the same old recycling of Spidey, Miles, Gwen, Venom, Goblin, etc. along with <insert generic vehicle here>. Even if Lego couldn't directly produce sets on Across the Spider-Verse, there's no way they couldn't have made sets with variations of the characters in them. What strikes me most is that the calibre of Spider-Man sets isn't terribly far off from the 4+ ones, and even the 4+ sets have a greater range of characters. I won't even go into the buildable figures which are completely outclassed by alternatives like Hasbro's Marvel Legends, but it absolutely stings when Lego technically covers characters like a fully suited Green Goblin, Iron Spider, or even the Dark Knight Batman variant with his Batpod in buildable figure form, but not as minifigures. I'm sure the NWH Final Battle sold quite well when it first released (wasn't it on backorder in the UK and US last August?), however I do think the set missed the mark in some small yet critical ways. It's the small things like Goblin being the most basic mini figure out of the lineup when he should have had the most detail, or the alternative head for Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man looking absolutely nothing like him despite Lego having decades worth of reference pictures of Tobey Maguire to use. Even when this theme does approach sets based on content there is demand for, its budgetary constraints will always lead to shortcuts in some form or another. All that said, I'm just glad Lego did make NWH sets. Doom and gloom aside, we know the theme is still capable of producing heavy hitters and this summer certainly has more than a fair share of them. It's just a shame that Deadpool and Wolverine's R-Rating means we won't minifigure representation for both characters, given that it's the most hotly anticipated MCU entry since NWH almost 3 years back.
