I thought the first Shrek movie was pretty funny to watch first time. The only good moment I remember in Shrek 2 was the one where you hear "Holding out for a hero" which reminded me about my favorite movie where that song is used in a similar way. I couldn't get bothered with the third installment, but I can't really have anything against them whoring out their own product.

1) There will always be kudos for a good review at EB ;-) 2) Yeah. It does look quite slow and tank-like. It is a shame LEGO didn't make a more obvious way shoving what goes on. You mean the ungainly way in which the wheels have to turn in order to change from tank mode? I think you are right as well. On the other hand. If it has anti-grav, then it doesn't really make sense to have wheels as well. I mean. If the power goes, then the wheels can't turn anyways!

Great review, but am I the only one who thinks this is a pretty homely looking vehicle? The small exploration robot is cool, but the large windscreen on the main vehicle reminds me about Jack Stone! I also think the bases of the vehicle parts are very basic and look almost unfinished with the holes and such. I think I will pass this one, even though the alien has a jet pack and there is the nice mini vehicle.

Wow. This is actually quite a neat set! It is definitively my favorite in the line after the big drilling unit! \begin{geek} I'm not sure it would nose dive when transforming from tank mode. I guess it would pick up speed and transform quickly since it doesn't seem to have any downwards pointing thrusters. \end{geek}

Now that is how a fire station should look! *sweet* It is cool to see that you didn't get discouraged by the Fire Fighter competition Zeki. Keep up the good work, and could we get more pictures of the trucks?

Tabletown News - Special Edition - Know Your Enemy
Lasse D replied to Doctor Sinister's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is absolutely brilliant Dr. Sinister! Many of us know these posters from the museums, and it really is a war going on between the brands. -
Thanks. But I'm not so sure about taking his. There might be toys that kids don't use, but as soon as something is gone, all hell might still break loose! I will suggest to buy another one... or two :-P

I really like these small MOCs you present Stauder. They look like so much fun to play with! But. I have a general request. I think you should clean the bricks (with a wet nailbrush or discarded toothbrush) so that they aren't dusty around the studs. I think your MOCs would look a lot better if there wasn't this as an abstraction.

I'm aware of the problem. I usually place a lid upside down on the top which makes it work better. It only the garbage bin was about 2mm wider, then it would fit perfectly. I'm glad you all seem to like it. I would like to do something with 7990 as well, but there is no success with that... yet.

Since this set appears to be discontinued in the near future, I just want to add a review before it goes away. To be honest I only bought this set because of the two model team wheels... actually, I bought 2 because the sales lady made a mistake and I didn't want to wait. It is a pretty new set being released in 2006. With 360 pieces it does seem like quite a bargain, but the pieces are mostly pretty small and we have seen better in other Creator sets. The box The two main models (that can be built at the same time) on the front and all models with instructions on the back. What's inside 360, 5 polybags, 4 wheels, a sound bick with motorcycle sound and two instruction booklets. The instructions The set has building instructions for 8 models. In addition to these 8 there are a lot of ideas for alternative "revin riders" including a snow scooter. It is actually hard to come up with an alternate model that isn't already in the instructions! The instruction booklets start with a page of the content. The second book has ideas right after this index And in the end The models from the first instructions booklet Model 1 (quick build 1) Building time: 6:30 This is a small bike which is built very quickly. It has sound, but I think the wheels are a bit too wide for this model Model 2 (quick build 2) Building time: 10:00 This is a really nice little scooter, one of them you see all the time in the big cities. Model 3 (experienced build 1) Building time: 12:15 This trike has sound that is activated when you mode the exhaust pipes together with the suspension. I really like the look the construction of this model. Model 4 (experienced build 2) Building time: 9:00 This dirt racer is one of the main models and together with the other main model these two use most of the bricks in the set. There is a stick for balancing, but apart from that I don't find much interesting in this model. Model 5 (experienced build 3) Building time: 9:00 Custom bite with sound and a lot of crome details. The models from the second instructions booklet Model 6 (advanced build 1) Building time: 11:33 This is the second main model and it is a lot more substantial than the dirt bike and has the sound brick which activates when you press down (just like the other models). Model 7 (advanced build 2) Building time: 14:00 A motorcycle with a side carriage much like the secondary model of 8281 Technic mini tractor. Model 8 (advanced build 3) Building time: 14:30 This quad bike is my favorite model of the set. It has the sound brick and the steering works as well. The color scheme could have been better, but I don't think I could have done it better with the parts in the set. Conclusion With an MSRP of $20 (for USA. It is a little more than 200kr. in Denmark) it isn't the best bargain for parts, but this set excels in variety of models. You can keep building models for hours by just following the instructions and ideas from the instruction booklets alone! The parts are relatively small, but they are also excellent for MOC'ing. Overall I would give this set a grade of 7/10. I think the set is very underrated. It doesn't look of much, doesn't give you much bang for the buck, but WOW does shine when it comes to building experience! ... and did I mention it has two Model Team wheels?

I have heard it has been canceled because of lack of time.

You can count on seeing me there as well. It is always nice to have an event near LEGOLAND because it's such an obvious place to visit while you are there.

I have no plans of making instructions for it. There should be enough pictures in the gallery for those who want to make something similar. By the way. Have any of you tried to make an alternate model of 7990? Now that is a real challenge! I'm glad you like the garbage truck, but to make something serious out of 7990 would really be something.

It brings back good memories of my childhood towns. Some buildings, a lot of vehicles and trains *wub* I like how you have expanded on the Caf

I have tried to build an alternate model of 7991. The model should use parts in new ways and have a lot of functions. After a lot of building, scrapping and rebuilding I can now present the result: Another garbage truck! Inspired by American front loaders, I used exhaust pipes as lift arms and mudguard as a grabber to make the loader The front had to be different from the standard one LEGO puts on all new City trucks and the black plate on top makes it look better shielded from falling debris The rear end has a grabber as well and it can unload (the goggles are supposed to be the exhaust) and I didn't forget to make a lifting mechanism underneath. There is even a drive shaft and some greeble down there The hand truck is mounted on the side instead of on the roof where the minifig can't reach ... while the brush and shovel are on the other side The leftover parts It is fun to play with because the functions actually work. I have also tried to make something out of the cement mixer 7990, but I have not found a way to use the big blue parts yet. Any ideas of how to use them? I have tried to make a rocket car and a helicopter, but they looked terrible! Brickshelf gallery with more pictures

Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
Lasse D replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
But has it not been done before on EB? I'm pretty sure people mentioned it back when the space ship appeared. If it hasn't, then I'm all in for a competition. With my current luck using the bricks from the cement mixer on 7990, I'm sure I will get my megablocks beaten, but I'm also sure the process will be great fun... the process being before the beating :-P -
Are Scala Elements in a 'System' Creation Legal?
Lasse D replied to SirNadroj's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It is often a joy to see big or "unusable" parts being incorporated into MOCs, especially if they are used in ways that they were not intended. The guy who used fabuland roofs in a spaceship and him who used parts from planes in a air ship comes to mind *sweet* -
Another contest that is way too hard to judge. I vote for the M-Tron fighter by Suupasayajin. It is really neat.

Since this discussion has been revived, I have a feeling that quality has begun to improve again lately. It has been a while since I received a broken part. The largest problems at the moment are the ones with building instructions where they often get folded or even ripped during packing and handling and there are often missing details inside the booklets.

Of all those mowers I have seen, I prefer Mijasper's. It is very easy to recognize and the use of a hammer as handle makes perfect sense if you think of the hammer head as a switch. I really don't like modifying parts, and all those stressed joints of the bird makes it look... uncomfortable.

Thank you very much for the explanation...

A UCS Droid Carrier! Awesome! I think there are some non-"Droid Battle Pack"-pieces in it, but I'm not sure about that. Is it really possible to make without using additional parts?
-
I'm speechless! Did you just challenge yourself to try and use the most strange orange pieces possible? X-pods, hockey gear, windscreen and Mars tracks. It's just awesome how you have made all these pieces work together. Now you have given it this name and caption. Does it transform?

It doesn't add up. Nowhere does the guy at Mocpages claim anything in another name than Mutley 777. It looks more as if someone thought so highly about your MOCs mutley that he wanted to set up the MOCpages for you. Just take a look at the home page: http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/5810 Are you sure you don't just have a very devoted fan who doesn't know how to ask you first before he (or she?) begins doing all this stuff?
