With the new sensors it is also possible to do this without a computer and camera: This i the first time I have seen it solved without using a computer to do all the hard work.

It is all about the credit in my opinion. I love it when people rebuild my Executor (and improve it) because it took a lot of work to make the instructions, and I would also like others to build more Model Team in the old 12 studs wide scale. To copy a pictures and claim it's yours is of course a complete no-no, but I'm also not that happy about people who copy designs, improve them and claim "this is how that creation should have been". That even applies for the official LEGO creations. I guess that is more an issue of pride than of copying. End line from me: Rebuild my Executor and you will make me very happy *wub*

Model Team: Police HQ
Lasse D replied to Lasse D's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The jail is in the basement in the back: You can see the bars in the shot where I was pulling the sides out. The white bricks on this truck have suffered from a lot of yellowing last year, so I have to replace most of the bricks. I'm planning on adding PF to it so that it becomes remote controlled, doesn't that seem like a fun idea? There should be plenty of room between the fuel tanks and stuff for the PF-components. I'm glad that you all like it, so I hope my motorization-madness doesn't do much to the looks. The hard part will be to place the receiver. -
My 2007 LEGO-highlights: - Became member of "Byggepladen", a Danish LEGO-community after meeting an old friend from there in here! - Most busy MOC'ing year in my life with a lot of new Model Team trucks, but also City stuff, GBC and what I found interesting. - Most expensive LEGO year in my life with about my weight in new LEGO sets and parts. - Introduction to NXT and programming a lot on it. - It was the first year I participated in LEGO-events, both as a helper and builder. I would call 2007 the strongest year for LEGO ever and my favorite in general when it comes to LEGO. ... and 2008 looks even more promising!

Superp yoderevolution! This is what a 8 studs wide (correct width for minifig scale if you think it's 37.5:1) should look like! It has a lot of fine details and looks much more of a truck than the standard "heavy haulers". Is it by any chance possible to make an engine which you can open up for as well? I'm currently working on a very similar truck (with almost the same shape and color actually!), and I have not been able to fit in a motor because of all the SNOT taking up space in the front. If there is a single thing I should nit pick about, then it's the use of stressed elements to hold the side mirrors. I don't know a way to make it "legal" without compromises. That's all. I look forward to see something on the trailer ;-)

Awesome Technic bus.
Lasse D replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This guy only has this single picture of the bus for now, but he has a whole gallery for the older version: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=200816 You can see that the doors are actually pneumatic, so I'm not sure about what the cogs in the top are for. It is quite a huge creation and I hope he will keep his promise and post more pictures of the new version. -
Whoa. That is going to be one huge space ship! Are you also planning on making an artistic shape for the outside? You often see ships that become huge flying boxes when people build in this scale - or at least that was what my ships ended up being (That, and multi colored *sing* ) It is an interesting idea with those kind of bricks for warning lights. Are you going to add 9V as well now that it is such a big project? It is great to see a project so big light up in the dark.

I was going to cast my vote, but after reading all the posts I got a little confused. Should I vote for the one with the floating shark or the one where the minifigs greet each other?
-
Wow. This has turned out a lot better than I expected! I really like how you made the head of this thing... and sinner :-P You sure got at lot more out of your cyclone defender than I did of mine! And your pictures in the first post are also nice and clear - good job Exobuilder.
-
That is soo nice! I really like how you have made it look so complete even with something going on in the cellar. I'm not sure I know the answer to the riddle - the man in the back looks quite evil, and how did that other guy loose his hand?
-
I see no reason not to be there. I sure will!

I see another tango in that picture as well |-/

I know there are quite some problems with color consistency in this set, but I didn't know LEGO would take it so far! J/K :-P There are enough colors in this set to make a lot of alternate models that don't look at all like the main one - just take a look at the one in the back of the instructions!

Tell me if I have understood this correctly: You have a camera to detect the obstacle, refine the landscape using the calculations on the matrices and plan the route for the robot with an SSSP algorithm that uses the visibility graph? It sounds impressive, but have you planned on trying to make the autonomous agent do some more of this work instead of the computer with web-cam? The distance sensor from the NXT should give you quite good results in such a controlled environment. I can recommend Maja J Mataric's Integration of Representation Into Goal-Driven Behavior-Based Robots: http://www-robotics.usc.edu/~maja/publications/ieeetra92.pdf if you want to explore this field further.

It is fine that MOCs get into the forums of which they belong, but then it becomes harder to scan these forums for MOCs. Will it be possible to make a tags that identify MOC introduction threads? There are currently some icons on the far left telling whether a topic is a sticky and some other things. It would be nice if that little piece of space could be used for this. A lot of work for the volunteers on! Sorry :-$

At first I though "meh", another Ferrari set, but now I see there are red 1x4x3 panels on the truck, I will definitely get this set! Those 6 panels are just what I need for my new truck. Shell logos will come in handy as well. FFX is a great game which I can only recommend. Having played it for 250+ hours, it is getting a little trivial, oh wait... It's a car :-P It looks better than the last Ferrari set in that size because it doesn't rely that much on stickers for details.

Announcing the formation of The Eurobricks Nations! (EN)
Lasse D replied to Doctor Sinister's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you jifel. It does work quite well and can shoot rockets* up to 7 meters, but I think we will need a whole lot of more firepower for this war I will get some more pictures at Christmas (Pictures of the engine, interior, firing mechanism and so on). *A "rocket" consists of 5 minifig heads on top of each other. -

Official Speed Racer Licensed Product in 2008
Lasse D replied to ColdBricks's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think the white racer from the big set looks very interesting given the pointy Le Mans-prototype like look. These sets seem to be great for curved slopes, but that new mudguard has a little too much flairings in a single piece for my likings - to use pieces like that tend to standardize the vehicles too much. -
I second that. There is apparently some kind of Bionicle comics in which a character has been killed off. You can't really call the title nor the first post informative for those who don't know anything about Bionicle.

It's great to see it all coming together. An army i rising against the invaders from the Republic of Enlighten! If only I had some time to join the fun with my own army ideas! Now all you need is a base or something to set up bases in the war zone. I think there will be a great amount of casualties, so make sure to make a field hospital as well ;-)

You might be joking, but I once heard a motor bike sounding like a woodpecker, so there really is some trouth to it :-P I agree with you regarding the sound bricks, but it does make a fun challenge to find alternative ways to use them (such as making it the noise of a bird). It is the same with the sound of the NXT which can be quite useful. And thanks Asuka. It feels almost wrong to build an alternate model without using any of the chrome parts or wheels. I wonder if I should use those parts for something else... X-D
-
Thanks simonwillems. A maybe from one person is better that nothing. I hereby declare my mission a success! X-D I didn't know about birds making such noise. I would have thought the sound brick from the Creator Dino set would appear more realistic.

I'm glad you like the review, but it is a shame there is pretty much no one who wants this set. What can I do about this? Let the brainstorming begin! (The one who talks in this color is me, and the one in this color will be me) "What about building an alternate model to spice this set up a bit?" "Excellent idea! The set is called "Revin Riders", so it should be some kind of revin... rider." "OK. What about a future bike, like one of those from Akira?" "LEGO already did it. See the idea on page 3 of the second instructions booklet." "Oh. I see there is a dragster bike on that page as well." "Then what about a snow scooter?" "See page 67..." "Do'h! Then what about a pocket bike?" "Same page, just above the snow scooter? Did you even look? Before you ask. There's a sports bike and a trike with trailer on that page as well." "Sorry. Then what about something crazy. Like a bike with two rear wheels?" "Page 70." "I see. LEGO did pretty much make all kinds of revin riders for this set already, didn't they? Well. I know one which they didn't think about: A tropical bird!" "A what?" "A tropical bird:" "And how exactly is a bird a rev... A tropical bird!" "Push the head (like a light up minifig) and it flaps the wings while roaring like a revin... bird." "Don't you want this set now?" (The Brickshelf gallery)
