Thanks, after seeing your midi-X-Wing I just had to download LDD4. These pics are just screen shots through LDD with the addition of a graduated tint to the background, which I added in Photoshop. For the Christmas ones I turned off the brick-outlines in LDD and also added some drop shadows in Ps.

Hmmmm, I'm concerned that Mos_Eisley will just keep winning the same prize over and over - like Groundhog Day. Unless he finally accepts the prize - he will never lose.

I think this is my first topic in the Star Wars forum and I was a little nervous about posting it. There's so many cool MOC's here, my little repulsor-lift carrier seems a bit lame. It's nice to get some positive comments - thanks guys. Regarding the poem - it's based on a poem by Clement Clarke Moore called 'Twas the night before Christmas' - I have to read it MANY times at this time of year to my daughter. And regarding the red Snowtrooper Torso it's the new 1 in 10,000 Lavatrooper from Mustafar

Twas the night before Christmas on the old Yavin base. All around there was silence, of the Empire no trace. When away in the Hanger arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bunk to see what was the matter. The hanger was dark but I heard a low humming, As the sound became louder I knew something was coming. Hiding myself, I peered through a crack, And with a hand on my blaster, prepared to attack. Out of the darkness weaved a repulsor-lift carrier, Over burdened with presents, it had crashed through a barrier. All over the floor the gifts they were scattered, But the driver kept on as if little else mattered. Depositing presents by each X-Wing fighter, The strain on his craft became lighter and lighter. He spoke not a word as he continued his task, Who is this fellow? I wanted to ask. He was dressed in a flight suit from his head to his toes, He was chubby and bearded with a shiney red nose. His eyes - how they twinkled, his plump cheeks - how merry, But the way that he drove! - Like he'd drunk all Jan's sherry. Faster and faster he worked through the night, And when he finally spied me, he had such a fright! I knew in that moment - it wasn't St. Nick! It was pilot, Jek Porkins playing a trick. He sprang to his X-Wing, his droid gave a whistle, And away they both flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he flew out of sight, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!" After providing crabboy329 with a Rebel-Cart for his LDD reversed engineered Yavin Base I felt I needed to make a 'proper' personnel carrier. So here it is - I can't make it for real because I don't have enough cheese... .lxf file EDIT: Updated link to lxf - was linking to wrong file EDIT: Updated 1st post to include (almost finished) WIP below: More here when public. The 2011 bump...

Congratulations to the winners! And well done to everyone who took part... people do say it's the taking part that counts Also thank you to KimT for organising this contest - I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

I see you have constructed your own light-sabre ... and very nice it is too. I really like the way you have built this and the chrome/metallic parts work really well. However, IMO it would look even better if you were to incorporate some black pieces rather than light grey. I think the light grey is too close in tone to the metallic parts and the use of black would enhance it further. Never-the-less... impressive, most impressive.

I think this set is awful - but I WILL be buying it JUST for the Astromech ! The rest will be spare parts.

I think this could be the definitive minifig scale, MOC snowspeeder . ...Although it seems like it's time at the top could be brief?

Ingrid Pitt, Leslie Neilsen and now this! I just read a nice tribute here. IMO ESB is easily the best SW film, I haven't watched the rest half as much as I should because when I feel like watching Star Wars, I watch Empire. And that ending, gets me every-time. Sad news.

[MOC] Yavin base - unreleased set
Praiter Yed replied to MightySlickPancake's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Absolutely, I would have finished sooner but I had to take a break for lunch then tea. Even though it's just a reverse engineer job, I feel it's some of my best work. I never would have figured the trick with the two tiles at the front of the X-Wing . The rendering on LDD 4 is looking sweet (still not got round to downloading it here). -

Thought I'd better do this quick before Masked Builder steals my thunder! I'm sure everyone will agree that this is just awesome... lxf file It's all yours crabboy329. My work here is done. EDIT: Just clicked add reply and Brickdoctors' X-Wing has appeared! Nice one! -
[MOC] Yavin base - unreleased set
Praiter Yed replied to MightySlickPancake's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice job crabboy329 - it looks good. I like the front view more than I would have expected also a nice compact War Room. You've done really well, especially with so little reference material. This might help re. attaching the lxf file: link I'm glad you're up for giving it a go. I've been looking at it and was tempted, but I've got so much on at the moment, I would struggle to start before new year (I should actually be working now )! Plus not sure how to tackle the folding wings. The front section is bothering me too; does the red stripe taper or is it inset and the white wedge plate (top front of nose section) what part is that? - It seems to go from a 3 stud width to a 2 stud width - I can't find it on BL. - Have a feeling I'm going to regret typing that last bit when I end up looking like an idiot because it's a really common part. Will you be building for real or LDD? I might have a go at the Rebel Cart - I always get left with the hardest jobs! -
I like it. IMO this deserves it's own thread as a LDD MOC. There's probably lots of LSW fans who've seen the sketch in the visual dictionary and might miss it tucked away here in 'Future Star Wars Sets'. Plus if you're willing to share you're LDD file some might want to have a go at building it. Keep up the good work.

I'd make it into the War Room - good luck finding images though - you might have to watch ANH for reference. But that would be a pleasure of course EDIT: Looking good so far! I'm not sure what you mean by 'the finer details'

There's a clearer picture below. It looks like more than one green baseplate to me + I think it would be symmetrical apart from the tower you can see (top right of image). I always think of the Yavin base being grey - possibly a mixture of bley & dark bley BUT on some images it does look tan. Try Googling Massassi Temple.

I'm not really a fan of TCW, I probably would be if it'd continued with the beautiful animation style introduced by Genndy Tartakovsky but in it's current CGI form I find it totally soulless. BUT my daughter LOVES the Clone Wars (she likes Binks & Ahsoka but doesn't like it when Anakin & Padme kiss ) and won't watch the films at all! TCW is definitely THE THING for kids and ultimately as Lego is a kids toy that's where sales will be largest. Even if we get only one GOOD QUALITY OT release per year that'd keep me happy. I like collecting sets but as an AFOL I prefer to build my own, the more OT sets TLG release the less money I have to spend on BL or Ebay! So I'm not sick of Star Wars or Lego Star Wars, I'm happy that both continue in new forms for younger generations albeit in forms I'm not overly keen on myself. And who knows, when the CW live action series finally arrives, TCW doubters might end-up wishing for it's return. Young Indiana Jones Chronicles anyone?

I knew I had this somewhere... Might help a little if someone does decide to reverse-engineer it. I can't help but wonder with R2-Q2 appearing in 7915 Imperial V-Wing Fighter, and the fact that "During the Battle of Yavin, a similar droid was used by Biggs Darklighter", whether we may actually see Biggs and a new X-Wing in the next 2-3 years. Could TLG resist the temptation of selling us the same droid under a different name?
-
Yep, it would make quite a nice play-set. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing something similar to 7666 Hoth Base - A temple front with a tower, maybe a small briefing room section and a system scaled X-Wing (Biggs?). Throw in a Rebel cart and I'd soon be parting with my hard-earned cash.

It was pictured in the Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary - if I remember correctly it said it was a sketch model that would not go into production. Link

Fanworld Cologne - My Star Wars Layout

Truly amazing. That must be a nightmare to transport. Do you have to glue some pieces? -
I was totally amazed by this MOC. Then I read some of the constructive criticism and looked around the net at some reference pics, and yes, there are some slight inaccuracies but as you say... working with bricks you have to make compromises. Maybe the SNOT wings are slightly too thick, but the way the graphics are integrated into the wings is beautiful! I remain totally amazed.

Tusken Raider Encounter at the Dune W.C.
Praiter Yed replied to Praiter Yed's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. Well I'm not so sure the use of the blades was 'clever'. I've seen a lot of MOC's with figs sat on the toilet and I thought it might be a novel approach to show a bloke p-ing up a tree (initially this was going to be an Endor scene). So the use of the blades seemed the only choice I had - I'd be surprised if it hasn't been done before. Thanks Legostein, I'd love to take the credit for creating something with such a universal message - but it's really just toilet humour -
Just build it with these...

Cool, you rebuilt it! And in only 2 hours! And made it even better! It looks fantastic, great job Cavegod. Hmmmmm, I wonder how long it would take to build one of these
