Not exactly the kind of behavior one would expect on a site for AFOLs.To answer the original statement by legolandia, discussion about the possible UCS Falcon is fine here. I don't remember where the rumor started, but I'm fairly certain that there was a source somewhere (however reliable or unreliable it might have been).

What joke? I did note that Luke is in the Bible and is said to have been a doctor, which seemed Cleric-ish to me, so that was why I picked the name out of some list of "Medieval Names that Start with 'L'", but anything other than that is just a coincidence. (Including the fact that he uses Tatooine Luke's legs — I picked those simply because I liked the minifig part combo.)

The difference you make is that you're the only healer right now, plus Guardian Angel is much better than Aura.

Some of the tags may be meant to be left unexplained, perhaps as an inside joke, but if you look in some of the theme forums, some of the main indices will have a list of all the tags related to that theme.

So the NPCs in that quest just aren't as willing to change their minds as other NPCs. I'm not saying that QMs shouldn't sometimes throw in an opportunity for Diplomacy to work, nor am I saying that Zeph is or isn't right, but talking to animals doesn't always work, there aren't always things to track, magic can't always move an obstacle, healing an ill or wounded NPC you just met doesn't always work, and so on and so forth. The game wouldn't be much fun if you always knew which skill had to be used to solve something.

There is a small chance it will work. The chance depends on the traits that the QM has set for the NPC. But Diplomacy isn't just a random chance. Sure, you might do something stupid while talking or inadvertently say the wrong thing, but that's based on the content of the player's post. Of course I've been talked out of something before, but I wouldn't change my mind if the other argument didn't make sense, I probably wouldn't change my mind if the other decision was strongly against one of my established values (which I certainly hope aren't random), and I definitely wouldn't change my mind regardless of the implications of the other choice just because a d6 decreed that I should.

I actually like the idea that the Lions don't use any round shields; the round ones (both stereotypically and somewhat historically) are generally associated with the Vikings or older armies like the Greeks, while the Lions, whose society revolves around the knight, have the later heater shield, which is the shape most people think of on knights and in coats of arms, and the kite shield it developed from.The round shields are only used for older Lion Knights, the 'Classical Lion Knights' in the Dastan flashback, when the Lions are a cross between the Crusader subtheme and the CMF Spartan.

We do know what to expect: we say that we're using Diplomacy; the QM decides whether or not it works based on the PC's actions and the NPC's character traits. Diplomacy is not roleplaying; Diplomacy is the ability of a Knight to form a logical argument and be more likely to persuade an NPC to agree with him. Roleplaying can affect Diplomacy, but you don't have to roleplay in order to understand the situation and NPC you're dealing with. Character traits and behavior should definitely not be randomized; it doesn't make sense for an NPC's reaction to be based on a die roll.

That's up to the creativity of the player and the decision of the QM about when it should and shouldn't work. The ability to try out things outside the box and then have a game master handle and interpret the more subjective and unorthodox actions we choose is one of the great advantages of an RPG run by humans over one run by a computer; why take away the ability of the QM to decide when it makes sense for an ability to work?

And also giving a die roll to Diplomacy opens up the chance to abuse it ("You don't want to sell me deathsticks for that ridiculous amount. You want to give me all your loot and Gold and rethink your life," I say Diplomatically.), and giving a die roll to Diplomacy prevents the QM from being able to plan situations where Diplomacy just shouldn't work. Diplomacy, after all, is based on how the PC speaks, as Kintobor said, and also upon how the NPC reacts because of what kind of character the NPC is, which is not something that a random die should determine.

Oh, that's a good point; I think that was only with four. Just remember that the QM can adapt the enemies, so it won't necessarily be any faster just because the party is stronger.

I was actually going to lend my second shield to emjajoas; he's much more likely to get overwhelmed by the high number of enemies in the Fields during an Aura.

Is it more powerful? Sorry, it's been a while since I've taken a good look at the classes. Alright then.I think the battles might be a little slower for us, with most of us being significant-part-tank/healer. The last time I got up to around the 120 GP mark and that took us about six months, if I remember correctly, so I think that this trip might easily run over a year if you want to get up to 250 GP. Okay, thanks; I missed that.

Wait, did I miss the rewards getting changed for the Fields? I could've sworn that the last time I went, the Medal was the 100 GP reward and the Mythril was worth 200 or 250. Bricksandparts, are you sure you want to switch to Berserker and take away that pure offensive capability of Raider in exchange for the ability to use shields, when there are already three Knight-class heroes in the proposed party?

With regards to duration, I'd like to stay long enough to get at least to 50 GP (ten battles); the reward at that stage is the first of the GP rewards that's worth spending time in the Fields for, in my opinion. Not that I mind if we stay longer so that you can get Medals of Glory, of course.

Let's wait to hear what the other four think before doing anything like that. Also, would you guys mind if I was signed up as party leader? Haven't done it in a while, and I enjoy the strategy.

Awwww...Alright, then...oh, joeshmoe signed up for the Fields; he's an Evoker and he's about the same Level as emjajoas. That makes six, Quarry, Palathadric, Bricksandparts, emjajoas, joeshmoe, and myself. Is that team good with you guys?

Weighing my particularly heavy pouch of Gold, at least by my non-Rogue standards, I realize that I have purchases to make, and I approach Anwyl. "Good day, Master Dwarf." I upgrade my Iris Shield to SP: 15 for 10+20+30+40+50+60+70+80+90+100+110+120+130+140+150=1200 Gold, leaving me with 1616-1200=416 Gold.

No, Warden with SP: 19, we need you on our über-tank team. Plus questing with Pie has convinced me that two Aura-heroes are always safer than just one, both for them and for the rest of the party.
