Does Lego's emphasis on minifigures change the way kids play?
JoashColbat replied to naf's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Of course Lego's emphasis on minifigures changes the way kids (and AFOLs even) interact with lego. I really only purchase the LOTR and Hobbit line just for the minifigures, because the builds don't really interest me, but that's just me. From my experience, kids view their Lego sets as "playsets", which their minifigs play on. And Lego encourages this by intergrating play features into the set, and lots of these features involve the minifigs! In short, Lego has changed over the years. The minifigures are no longer complements to the actual buildings in the set, rather the build is just a complement to the minifigures. -

Thanks to everyone who commented! While I know that there is absolutely no chance at all of me getting 1st or 2nd place (or 3rd and 4th for that matter), if you do cast a vote my way, I would really appreciate that! Happy New Year!

Hi all, I'd like to show you all my first large (large for me ) Castle MOC. Diary Entry 78 You have no idea how happy I was when I heard that we found the fort. Wgnor and Reinhold were following the river when they stumbled upon it. They haven't been able to get in yet, but I'm sure they will see to that soon. Wgnor and Reinhold have named the fort Arneer Castle, even though it isn't really large enough to be a castle. Well, well. The two have cleared out the cave and have installed my stuff. They are currently fixing up the tower. Dragon Warriors were spotted along the East Road and this morning they charged past the fort. We managed to land a few arrows on them as they ran off into the morning air. MOC: Winter Village Chalet (Restaurant and bedrooms)
JoashColbat replied to sdrnet's topic in LEGO Town
Wow, that's beautiful Please don't enter the Expand the Winter Village contest, because if you do there is no way we can win! -
Oh well then. Thanks for the quick reply. Now I'll just have to find the 16 x 16 plate I have lying around somewhere... ;)
-
Am I allowed to separate my entry into a 12 x 12 module, a 12 x 8 module and a 4 x 4 module?
-
Thanks everybody! Actually, your right Gazumpty, it is on a 12 x 12 base! Oops, I'll edit the MOC sometime soon so it conforms to the contest rules! EDIT: Entry updated with 16 x 16 base

Hi all! This is my entry to the Expand the Winter Village contest here on Eurobricks. Edited with a 16 x 16 base as per contest rules. Winter Village Pavilion Main by JoashColbat, on Flickr No Winter Village market is complete without a pavilion in the centre. This particular one has been around for as long as old Mr Homblepund has been alive (that's 90 years!) Sorry LegoPanda, I'm not exactly sure on how to do that, although I read somewhere that an admin on Brickshelf has to make the folder public. I dunno, do I ask some admin for help or something? I'm a newbie, you see.

Great little house, love the roof and the smoke from the chimney!

Hi all, This is my very first MOC so it might not be very good I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. Sorry, I'm still a newbie http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=5996869 http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=5996871 http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=5996872 Sorry for the bad picture quality. I know, it's really bad!. I took the photos with my iPad. The warrior has been on the road for many days. As midnight approaches, he returns to the town of his birth. His first stop is the Temple of Mars. He thanks the god for successes in war. The nearby market is empty, yet he can still feel the hustle that every market has. He sacrifices a horse (sorry, didn't have any other animals, or I would have used something else ) and hopes that his future battles will be successful as well. Edit: Made a Flickr account.
