Great work! A long time ago I tried to make a seventiescar myself (I belive a Cadillac from 1970) but I got so utterly frustrated that I did what you resisted: I flung the creation across the room and took my car building back to the fifties... The typical curves in the front and rear ends were too much for me, but not for you because they look spot on. I love the front lights on the Ford Galaxie and the fact that both cars are in eleven wide, that makes it difficult to incorporate (next to the details) also some sturdiness. You make me want to go back to building big cars again, but I can't because I am currently finding a way to make a 5 pf motor truck.... Keep it up!

Welcome DutchTreat to this forum! I hope you'll enjoy your time here. 020 beats them all and you know it!

I can see a railwaystation as well, right below the word "News". The box next to the airfield. There are overhead stairs to cross to the next platform. I also see new powerfunctions remote with the variable speed, lying next to the cargo train. Nice!

This aircraft really does the trick for me! Of all the Pacific WW II airplanes this one is (along with the Hellcat) the most renowned and it's distinct bulky and short fuselaged shape is captured perfectly. I for myself instantly recognised it as a Wildcat, being interested in the Second World War planes quite a bit. The details are great, especially made in this small minfig scale. This plane reminds me of a little computer game (which used the similar looking Hellcat) for the old Amiga computer in the 1980's called "Wings of Fury" Some people have restored it so it can be played and downloaded on modern computers as well. Great fun! Anyway, thanks for sharing this creation.

How on earth can picking up old sets be offensive? That's one of the pleasures of the hobby!

Oh, good thing I came in on thursday and picked one up! European stocks ran out before the US ones did, I'd suggest you buy one from Texas or Ohio now that you still can.

Spanish Imperial Galleon - Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion
simonwillems replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
Outstandingly beautiful! I missed this topic (this desereves a front page doesn't it?) but I am glad to catch up. I have had the pleasue in the past of seeing some of the ships of CGH in the flesh (or brick) and I recognise the style oncemore in this beauty. The only minor nitpick I have, if I am even allowed one, would be that I think that the quite plain figurehead does not really match with the extravagance of the ship. Other than that:  -
Lovely! I am especially fond of your pink Cadillac and amazed that so many pieces are indeed available in pink to make it right. The opening doors and other features are a really nice touch of realism. I struggled hard to make a cadillac 1959 myself in white and twelve-wide years ago, even though almost all Lego pieces (especially jumper bricks, couldn't have done it without them!) were available in that colour. I managed somehow, but never liked the yellowed look it had.... So making an eleven wide car with a very limited amount of pieces that looks perfect is something you can be (and I think you are) very proud of!

Thanks for a nice review of a wonderful little set. This car also came in set 6384, slightly more advanced with black plates in the front and rear, and that is the car I did make a fleet of for my town. The doors were easy to obtain through Bricklink and the car is easily mass-produced because of the limited amount of parts and the maximum amount of fun. I made four, so with this set I have a fleet of five little cars, together with sets like 6684 and 6676 and a few old motorbikes the policeforce is complete. Link to the force, may the force be with the police...

What is the longest you have kept a model built?
simonwillems replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In terms of sets: I bought set 6335 on april the 22th 1996, assembled it the same day and never took it apart. So that'll be 13 years 6 months and 13 days... I still love the design and it hasn't yellowed. I also bought the Sopwith Camel in 2003, like RalphS, and suspended it from the ceiling where it still hangs, together with the second Sopwith Camel I bought when the price suddenly dropped to 15 euros in (I believe) 2005. That must be the second longest time I kept (and still keep) a model built. In terms of MOC's, my much improved and changed Chevy Bel Air is the oldest built model I have. I made major changes over the years but the chassis is still the same since 1999. Link to MOC Nice topic! -
Don't worry, someone with great overwhelming super powers may come along shortly and wil put a stylish and subtile end to this discussion.

Shopping for Lego in Chicago?
simonwillems replied to simonwillems's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Thanks guys! It seems there are quite a lot of Chicago residents on Eurobricks. Four Legoshops in one city.... I wish my entire country had just one, but it hasn't... I'll try and visit some of the shops you all mentioned and I will also try to visit some of the Chicago sights along the way. My place to stay is located near the Loop, so that is where most of the shopping will take place. I will not be in Chicago on the 7th or 8th, unfortunately, so I'm afraid I'm going to miss out on the Lego Train Show... Thanks again! -
Shopping for Lego in Chicago?
simonwillems replied to simonwillems's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Thanks for bringing up this Chicago topic, it looks useful! I wonder why it didn't turn up when I entered the word "Chicago" in the search bar.... -
Now that really is breathtaking news, for my castle dragons.... Luckily I have a substantial collection of 'old' flames, and seeing your MOC's, Slyowl, you must have heaps yourself. But it's a pity all the same. On topic: nice review, it makes me want to buy the set even more! Regardless of flames.

Where do you buy your bricks?
simonwillems replied to Follows Closely's topic in General LEGO Discussion
...and a lot cheaper, combined to the ebay link: Dark bluish grey tile 1x1 -
Hello everyone, I'll be going to the US somewhere next week to tour the entire country. As I will be flying in and out of Chicago most of my Legoshopping will be done there. I was wondering whether there are any good shops there that sell Lego. I know there's a Legostore within the Loop, but are there other stores I should look out for? I did an extensive search of the boards for the "store topic" in which many people have made a list of Lego-availability in there regions, but was unable to find it... Thanks in advance!

Top deals at intertoys.de and Quelle.de
simonwillems replied to Holodoc's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
As we speak the Intertoys stores in The Netherlands have a sale going: 15% off Lego, so no need to cut out German coupons (at least not for us Dutchies, if any) -
A very beautiful building indeed! Together with Hinckleys theatre one of the best modulars I have seen up to this date. I like the idea of the removable walls of the showcases, it really increases play value...

Nice pictures! I went on friday with a friend of mine who was an intern for Lego this year. We met groups of designers from Denmark and were even taken out to dinner by the head of the Mindstorms division from Denmark afterwards. It was a really fun day and because we volunteered for the big Mindstorms model in Zwolle of Billunds Lego factory we got free admission. I am going again next year!

Nice! I looked up the head on Bricklink and Peeron and both sites confirm it to be a moustache And whatever Bricklink and Peeron say can be considered justice...!

How many Brick Separators do you own?
simonwillems replied to Big Cam's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I am the proud owner of two of these machines. They are neatly kept on top of my drawersystem (with 303 small plastic drawers full of Lego) so I never misplace them and they are always one grab away and colored in the exstinct old dark grey. I would like to have a chrome silver brick separator one day though, ah... the dreams Useful things, sure enough! -
Scania R340 Topline
simonwillems replied to Lasse D's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks, I had not considered the weight of the front in comparision to the back, but it makes perfect sense! I very much like the instructions, in fact I am looking for a way to make instructions for this model. I tried MLcad first but that program just messes up the steps and Lpub does not seem to be working on my system at all. And I am not that technical either.... I'll be following your project! -
Scania R340 Topline
simonwillems replied to Lasse D's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the instructions, they look very clear and good to follow. One question though: I see that you connected the back wheels of the truck almost directly to the XL motor, does it go well through bends without a differential? I love your big trucks! Welcome to Eurobricks!
