  1. Nice idea! I know the designers at Lego have a similar method, using sketch paper with squares the size of a plate, but this is kind of reversing that. The method I always find most useful when making Legolandstyle vehicles is measuring the space between the wheels using the wheels themselves. E.G: the space between the wheels of the red sportscar in your picture is about three wheels. Works on all scales...
  2. really nice, and with some very clever techniques included! The parts seem to be in my collection so I may give it a shot some day. Thanks! If only I knew how to use that application to change an MLcad file into presentable instructions like yours. I guess I am better with Lego than with computers...
  3. I bought 5 collectible minfigures of the second series yesterday. Farao, explorer, cop, circus guy with wip and the most beautiful of all: the Mexican.
  4. Nice! And you stuck to the lyrics as well: indeed no backseat and rear window. Two girls for every boy!
  5. Thank you! That made me laugh, being just out of bed. What's all the fuss about? The new series is widely available in Amsterdam.... Finally we get something first, maybe to make up for the fact that I am still waiting for the first Legostore to be opened in this country.
  6. has not set their status

  7. Nice review, this set is the first of the theme I will buy once it comes out in The Netherlands! One remark though, isn't the animal a dromedary instead of a camel? I can only spot one hump. As opposed to a camel that usually has two...
  8. According to Bricklink light grey cheese slopes do not exist.... Good luck on finding some in the UK!
  9. Thanks for the review. I like the limo but not so much the helicopter, did the two vehicles came in seperate bags (e.g. the car in bag one and the chopper in bags two and three)? That way I can buy the set, take out the limo and sell the rest to helicopterlovers...
  10. That's just plain nonsense! I bought the 7639 tractor last year and left it in a window all summer long. It got pretty yellowed. Not that I mind it much for that set, but still. Weird topic title by the way: "How do you prevent your Lego sets to be in good shape". Well, you can try and scrape off the gravel from a nearby street with some sets, that will certainly prevent them from being in good looking shape afterwards.
  11. Thanks for this review! I have often wondered how to draw a straight line with this ruler, as the underside looks kind of not-so-straight. You have made me realise that the ruler is intended to measure Lego heights and lenghts. Something I can do without a ruler, after more than 20 years of collecting. So I I'll just leave it where it is: in the store at half price...
  12. I am not sure whether we need a separate topic for everyone selling Trans Neon Yellow Space Parts.... If people want them they'll look for them. Besides that: an ebay-topic on Eurobricks makes buying from ebay less interesting for EB-members because prices go up.
  13. Interesting topic... I don't think Lego will ever release anything tunnel like. The reason being the sheer amount of bricks needed to make a decent tunnel. I experimented with it on several occasions and found out that a tunnel should be at least 13 bricks high to accomodate most trains, and even that looks kind of cramped, example here A tunnel does give you the opportunity to hide things, like cables for streetlevel lighting, speed regulators and their track attachment-pieces, points for sidetracks and of course the entire train when not in use (protected from dust as well) I know it looks a mess, but only from behind the layout... Tunnelmaking is great fun, it adds some difference in height to your layout, and which trainfanatic does not like to rest his head upon the track facing the light of the uncoming train through the tunnel, like this?
  14. Very nice, thanks for the pictures! I am missing the Grand Emporium and Firestation at this point, but whenever my financial situation permits it that gap will be filled.... I would love to see a picture review of the Grand Emporium, anyone want to make one?
  15. The sweetest sight ever seen! Life is Real' Busy on board this ship... Nice to see another Queen fan on the boards, I found quite a lot of your hidden songs, let's give it a try: Dragon Attack is the obvious one, and I Want To Break Free, but there are more subtile hints as well. Hammer to Fall is nicely done, so is Don't Lose Your Head, I see parts of Bohemian Rhapsody, of course Put Out The Fire, Death On Two Legs and there are many Sweet Lady's. How lovely of you to have included the Invisible Man... Is that Get Down Make Love, I see in the captain's cabin? I love your White Queen, and it is only now that I realise the attacking green men in battle are Ogres, that there is a Cool Cat and that the man on the stern is Trying Suicide (although advised not to). My favourite though is Fat Bottomed Girls, fanatstic! I must have missed some... Is this Kashoggi's ship? I think it must be... Thanks for a good laugh.
  16. Thanks for the review of this cool set. I own almost every little car from 1985 to about 1997 but this was one of the more special ones, I had endless fun with it in the late eighties. Especially with those eight big wheels. I always liked the way TLC put on the 1x3 plate for the exhaust on a half stud offset, something that was rarely done in those days. One small thing though: You forgot to include the spanner in your lovely review, it can be seen if you take a closer look at the back of the vehicle on the box-art. I don't think it's even mentioned in the instructions.
  17. I never really had any trouble putting together a set, and I own about 600. Just follow the minimum age leads on the box and you will have no problem at all What puzzled me one time though, was how to disassemble the alternate model of set 8408 Desert Ranger. At one point you end up with the chassis of the stretched racer model that clicks in place so tightly it takes some serious part-bending to take apart... Nice topic by the way!
  18. Well, let's see: I can see this one and this one and this one and this ice planet set Some basic (the old creator sets) and a little bit of technic, parts from this cute little set. I can not see set 6591 though, do you? Good luck with this, it's a nice mid nineties collection, but I wouldn't pay more then 15-20 euros for it...
  19. You have come to a Lego forum.... I am sure the version you are pointing to is lightyears beyond the Legoversion but that is not the point, I am sure a real windmill will even beat the model you are talking about. The fun is to have it built out of Lego...
  20. Gefeliciteerd! Have a great day, buddy!
  21. Prachtig! You are now officially my favorite MOC'er on this forum, and I even missed the Firetruck and Ambulance which, like this policecar, couldn't be more accurate than they are now. Where I live in Amsterdam this is the standard policecar and I see them racing by every day. They are standard VW Golfs but with a stronger plated chassis and raised wheels to negociate with curbs and all of the small bridges. It has been a long time dream of mine to construct a good looking Dutch policecar one day (I only ever constructed a policemotorcycle that I am quite happy with), now I know that it can be done! For people to realise how good this model resembles the real thing, here's a picture of a real car:
  22. This one, for 25 euros MISB ! And it's from 1991, that's older than most of the members on this site
  23. Beware: If this tiny little button battery starts leaking I am sure nothing is safe for it: make sure not to store this set in any attic because the gallons of acid protruding from the battery might cause your entire house to be turned in a chemical pile of rubble.... Seriously: when this battery leaks all that's slightly damaged might be part of the housing of the lightbrick....
  24. Nice train, and 100% better than the set the parts originated from. The only suggestion I have is to change the two roofpieces that are grey now into black. I got bored with the 7897 train before I even owned it so I never bothered buying it....
  25. Very accurate! This truck is functional and very detailed looking and that is really an achievement! I am not really a fan of the actual Renault truck as produced by the factory, but your model is an exact copy of that so it's brilliant Lego-wise! I am currently working on a project that is strongly influenced by your red Coca Cola truck and find it to be very difficult to incorporate all the motors and functions into the model and still leave some space for nice detailing like the real thing. I am getting there but couldn't have done it without your extensive Power function testing and the prototypes on Brickshelf.
