50% Lego discounts to mailshot recipients
simonwillems replied to Dfenz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Well, since I am not going to use that code I might as well give it away: my code is: 50CHESSNL I do think though it will only apply to a Dutch address, given the NL part (meaning Nederland or Netherlands). Try your luck with it! -

Yes, I got this e-mail as well, offering discount on set 852001 Castle Chess set. It goes from 49,99 to 24,99 when applying a certain code. It works too, I tried applying it. I am not a castle fan and don't want to buy this set.... If only they had Green Grocer to be part of this offer -
Keeping a 9V motor 10153/5300 in good condition
simonwillems replied to legotrainfan's topic in LEGO Town
There has not been any reason for me to try and attempt such a risky undertaking, so I'll leave my motors closed for now. For me that is a little different: I keep my train layout in the attic of an old house from 1910 which has tilted a bit since it was built.... That way when the train rides the oval track it rides faster one way then it does the other and the trains will derail more easily on the down end. :skull: It also depends on the center of gravity of the trains of course and the weight of the whole thing... -

Keeping a 9V motor 10153/5300 in good condition

Do you kow how to open up a motor? I recently bought a second hand presumably very old and heavy used motor, it looks very scratched and worn out an the top notch has gone (so it can only be used for trains built directly on top of the motor), but it still runs. It does run significantly slower though, not responding to the first stripe on the speedregulator.... It is still powerful but only at high speed and the trains equipped with it are unable to derail in curves because of the lowered speed. Well, it was only 7,50 euros, so I am not really complaining... So I guess, as motors age they do not stop running, they just run slower. Edit: under the current exchange rate motors aren't that expensive on Bricklink, especially those coming from the US! -

Contest: build your best hotrod ever - ENTRIES
simonwillems replied to El Bucanero's topic in LEGO Town
V-LV-26F There are a lot of contests I missed out on lately due to my busy schedule, but this one I had to enter. Although most hotrods are made out of an old chassis of a 30's or 50's car, this particular one was based on something from the 70's. (click to enlarge) I had this old car lying around somewhere and decided to give it a thorough makeover, resulting in this seven wide, fully suspensioned three toned monstrosity: "... Cruising along in my automobile..." As you can see it fits four persons, although there are just two seats. "No, it's not on fire, you barbarians, move your engine out of my path! " (click to enlarge) Brickshelf Folder, with short FILM of working suspension. May the best hotrodder win! -

Is anybody experiencing technical issues with the Pirate Forum?
simonwillems replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Thank you, Mr Phes for taking the time to send me another personal message and taking the problem seriously! Although my computer is ancient, the internet works fine and somehow the loadingtime has decreased for the Ebay function, thank to the removing of all the pictures. It works ok for me now. I wasn't experiencing any problems before Ebay came in, when it came in things slowed down a bit, but now all is well. I do think the competition from EB members will increase when bidding on a pirate item on Ebay though..... Thanks again! -
The right car door is there as well, but why there is a price difference between the right and left door? *wacko*
-
I almost forgot to mention that I have also bought the 7733 Cargo set, a nice set with a great forklift but way, way, way too much stickers.... I mean, thirty stickers for one city set that is not even very large. *sceptic*

Is anybody experiencing technical issues with the Pirate Forum?
simonwillems replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Is it just me or is this whole Ebay-thing, underneath the threads in the pirate forum, going slightly out of hand? First there were about 30 items visible, right now it's up to a few hundred, it's slowing down my computer significantly -
Yes!! I finally bought the most underrated ship of the entire Pirates line, 6250 Crossbone Clipper! After numourous near-misses on Ebay, I managed to buy it today from an American seller for a substantial amount of money, in good condition, with instructions but without box. *grin* Now all the seller has to do is 'ship' it to me, that'll take a while...

This looks very promising! Nice vehicles, big plane, lots of minifigures. I am not sure about the windows of that plane however, it looks like two stickers... Ah well, we'll see. *sweet*

There is no need to feel embarrassed to join Eurobricks being from China, this board is flooded with Americans.... *wink* There are more American members then European ones, I believe. Besides Hog Kong is only part of China for 11 years now, before that it belonged to Europe being a British Colony.

Contest: build your best hotrod ever
simonwillems replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in LEGO Town
Since the competition is still open for entries and since this upcoming weekend I finally have the time to pull out my bricks again, I will try to make a decent entry. Most Hotrods are made from original cars that are modified and souped up. I believe my MOC-collection holds just the right machine for that. Great entries so far, it will be a tough competition but I am up to the challenge *devil* -
Cutlass to foreshadow a return of the Pirate Theme?
simonwillems replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well, Lego has done it before: In 1998 in the 5988 set Pharaos Forbidden Ruins a cutlass appeared and a few years later we indeed got pirates... they were the 4+ ones..... Let's keep hoping. (Nice new smilies, by the way ) -
Hello Blitz (are you from Germany, because there your name means lightning?) Welcome to the forums, although you have been here for a while I see. Do you have a link to actually share your creations with us? Enjoy it here! :-)

Thanks for posting those Links Athos! Really nice to browse these instructions, I really like the outstanding detailed cars: all of them have front and backlights, many controls, and well thought-through features. That in contradiction to the last Adventurers Dino serie. I'll buy the first two smaller sets for sure. All these models and contraptions make me wonder what the movie will be like, we'll see I guess...

I know, it was a summer-hit some years ago, and now it's stuck in my head again all morning... ;-)

Well, it seems Maj.com is back online, the conspiracy ends here... ;-) What a nice buggy, it looks really complicated with the whole frame made up from all kinds of tubular pieces. I have the same wheels you used as front wheels somewhere in my collection, I haven't used them for ages although they are very nice. Good work on the rear hubcabs as well! Are those Bionicle arms, used in the roll cage and up front? They are integrated well in combination with the headlight. *wub*

Troll: When I said we could use two battlewheels instead of one I did not mean them to be this tiny.... Edit: Yay, I'm promoted to Count, 'I'm blue dabadee dabadaa *sing* '

Welcome to Eurobricks! I really like the style used in this Island. The lack of minifigs actually gives it something special and a mystique atmosphere. As to respond to the supposed medievalness of this project: All real remaining castles today have also been there in the 1600-1700 period, so it is not that strange. *wub*
