New Lego 10223 Kingdoms Joust Exclusive
KotZ replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Hmm, spend $120 USD and get one nice set, or spend $240 USD (and go broke) to get two of said set to make great jousting area that could double as the entrance to a castle... I'm really considering the second option. When I first saw the picture, I didn't see the others, and I immediately noticed the new shield for our Falcon knight. The figures are pretty good. I don't have the queen or the Lion Champion. So the the figures are making the buy worth it. The way it is designed with two joust centers look very professional. It looks like they brought an AFOL to build it. I'm torn on the new faction for the Falcon Knight though. Do we want a reincarnation that could possibly mar the vision and memories we have of the old sets, or are we fine with one knight? On the bright side, the last jousting tournament set we had was horrible(KK2)! So this is a major improvement! -
Thanks everybody! Zeya, I would have tiled the ground, but I have very little pieces that would look good for the tiling. I have hundreds of 1x1 studs and plates, but very few black, gray, brown, etc. I also have very few yellow cheese slopes (or cheese slopes in general for that matter ) Big Cam, same as above for the haystack. The tower, I was starting to run out of 1x2s and 1x3s for the tower. all that I had left were <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, and I was a little fearful of what people might say about that. For me, it was easier to go with a smaller tower instead of an insanely tall tower with <insert that tiresome argument> pieces and not as many outcroppings to grab on to. And don't worry, I take the comments as critiques. Even though people could say "Oh that's perfect!" does it really help? I'd rather have "You need to fix blank" so I know what to improve on. Thanks again, all!

I've been playing the first Assassin's Creed and I was inspired to make a little MOC around the city of Acre. Archer on rooftop, a heavy soldier, and a guard on the tower. You can notice the ledges I put in for Altair to scale. A thief to pickpocket for throwing knives. A better shot of the tower. The tower and ledge for Altair to jump off of into the hay. Altair's POV Enjoy, and comments and criticism are welcome! BS folder

Wait, Ninjago is a success? Sorry, I've been out of the loop for awhile. Anyway, I do believe the specific "Kingdoms" theme is dead (My wallet says thanks, my heart is crying). For a replacement theme (f there is one) I'm betting either a LOTR, a Fantasy (hopefully darker) or a Heroica-style theme. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't there a lull in Castle themes between KK1 and KK2? Or was that KK2 and the Crownies? LOTR borders more with the Fantasy, which I could see LEGO doing a fantasy theme and then discontinuing it only to have LOTR replace it. It seems like a dumb business venture, but it could work. If it goes the way of Heroica, I see either game cards/boards like Orient Expedition and Ninjago, or I see an actual theme with a definitive storyline at its base. Not as definitive as KK2, but something along the lines of Castle of Kingdoms. Heroica, I think would be very cool. We'll get some D&D style stuff I bet. I've been stuck playing Dragon Age: Origins the past few weeks and a theme along the "party system" would be interesting.

Oh, sorry about the new topic. Forgot the search button, whoops. Anyway, for my title I've tried "AssassinsCreed"; "Assassins Creed"; "Assassins_Creed"; and "Assassins-Creed", all without the quotes. No idea why it won't let me. EDIT: I found the problem. There was a random apostrophe in the tags... I feel really stupid now. Thanks for the help though, everybody! My knowledge has expanded!

weirdest place you've found random LEGO?
KotZ replied to slovakiasteph's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Haha yes! I went back to my mailbox where I found my Kraana, but there was never anything new! It's always fun to wish though -
Nice job everybody! Commander Adama, I agree with you on Hayden Christensen's acting, although, SW were his best roles... hopefully the new film he's working on will be better for his acting... I think I need to pick up the new Advent Calendar as well, just for Santa Yoda.

I'm trying to create a new sub-folder, but for some reason, I can't create one. I keep getting the error screen where it says only certain characters can be used; I'm using all of those characters correctly... Is this just something up for me, or is it happening to others?

I once found a Bionicle Kraana on the road outside my house. I never even owned that particular Kraana. I just saw it and picked it up. It didn't look like even one of the normal colors the Kraana came in, as if the dirt made it a new color. I still have it to this day, proudly in a container with all my other Bionicle figures. -
Nice job everyone! It took me awhile to understand Oky's first one. I thought it had to do with GG's height issue (or lack of height issue...) but not I understand. I'm trying to think of more funny ones, as well.

If anybody has read The Last Patriot by Brad Thor, you would easily remember this scene. If not, I'll give a little recap. The main character, Scot Harvath, and his girlfriend Tracy are on a trip to Paris, trying to leave his military career behind. Unfortunately, a terrorist is just happening to try to kill (with a car bomb) a scholar with a secret, and Scot just happens to be at the right place at the right time. Switching into Navy SEAL mentality, Scot rushes in to save the scholar. I wanted to make the street bigger, with a better scope of how cramped European streets are (although I've never been...) and try to get as accurate as possible to the chapter from the book itself. This takes place right before the car detonates. The only thing not of my own creation is the car from an Indiana Jones set. Scot's girlfriend, Tracy. I tried to get as close as possible to her hair, her short hair and not in pigtails like the rest of the series. Notice the security camera that does not see her. Our well dressed bad guy with a cellphone right on the corner of where his silver Mercedes, waiting for the scholar. Scot jumping up to cover the scholar. Notice he 20 euro he left on the cafe table from the book. The main cafe and side cafe without car and figures: And our cast from left to right include Scot Harvath, Tracy, Scholar, and Well-dressed Terrorist Overall, I'm not entirely pleased with how it turned out. If I had more pieces, I would have made it more modular, but oh well. I did the best I could. Thanks for looking and what do you all think?

I have two ideas for new ones: Dune and its universe by Frank Herbert, and the Scot Harvath series of books by Brad Thor. Dune would be interesting, lots of locations and a variety of minifigures and pieces. Something about a LEGO sandworm just sounds cool. Ornithoptors galore, crysknives, there are a lot of things. The book series by Brad Thor would be modern, and lots of realistic locations. New weapon pieces, etc. A lot of different torsos and figures (Tracy and Riley ) and I could see many modular buildings. Although, the books are way too violent and mature for kids. On another note, if Disney/ABC started creating more themes, for the adult audience, we would probably see soap operas and primetime...

Oh boy! This is great! I missed out on the Dino Attack/2010 sets, I was too busy with Exo-Force at the time, so this is a great idea. When they say "traps", I definitely envision Dino Island with a Pharaoh's Quest feel. I'm sure there will be guns, and the like, for example the rifles used in PQ. I'm not expecting over the top lasers and bazookas like Dino Attack. If it was going that route, more Dino 2010. I would love that helicopter though My personal view, I'd like a more action, military Dino theme, like bringing back Dino Attack. I thought it was an out of the box move for TLG, seeing their policy against violence and such. So maybe here we'll see that break away, but I'm sure I'm wrong. I see these with vehicles very close to the Dino Attack/2010 theme, or a mix between those and Dino Island. And I'm sure we'll have a base of operations this time around. I just hope we don't have ugly dinosaurs like the ones we had in Jurassic Park I liked the DA/2010 ones as they were closer to scale, although the colors were bleh, except for the blue-black raptor. I want a stegosaurus this time around again, though. I have one, and I would love to have an army of them for no reason but to say I do

I read this yesterday on FOX, and I love the idea. I can see these three as CMFs someday. From Mars, to Jupiter, what's next? The Sun? Neptune? The possibilities are endless. And if there are aliens, what if they mistake minifigures as the dominant species on Earth? Thanks for posting this!

Haha wow everybody. Very funny, all of them. Although a little inappropriate... are we slipping back into that mode we were in awhile ago?

After a small break from one of my favorite things (no, not a Dark Age, just a little vacation with no LEGO, although I picked up two nice little Kingdoms sets) this was just the thing to get me back into the swing of things with LEGO. As I went through it, I was surprised by its length (short) and that it wasn't as much about LEGO products as it was LEGO (company) and the consumers. I was a little confused with some questions, but I answered to the best of my ability. These things are so helpful. I like that LEGO could be considering an official event.

Oh, thanks, Prateek!
-
So we would ship our pieces to somebody else? Sorry, I'm not greedy, but when it comes to these plastic toys we love, I am in no way parting with them. But this does seem like a cool idea.
-
Thanks, you two! I wanted to make a groaner for awhile, and I was organizing some of my Castle figures around and I had one of the skeletons in my hand and I looked up to my shelf where I kept the Mandos... And prateek, funniest one by me, or funniest groaner? Either way, I'm glad I was able to improve on my humor

Really funny ones, everybody! Here are two new ones from me, may be a little bit of groaners, though A little rushed, as I'm going off on vacation. Death Watch Jabba's New Guard

Eurobricks' 3rd LDD RCB

This looks really good everybody! I would have signed up, but sci-fi isn't exactly my forte. It really looks like something TLG would release back in the 80's. -
REVIEW: 8805 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5
KotZ replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review, WhiteFang! I probably will pick up one or two, but with my luck, it will be something I really don't want. I agree about the color as well, it is much easier on the eyes than that ugly orange they used. Personally, my favorites are the Dwarf, Gladiator, Mafia Goon, Grenadier, and the Graduate. I can already see a MOC of The Graduate with that minifigure. And with a little modding and painting, I think we'll see the Godzilla MF look like this... Just saying. -
Thanks, Pandora! I actually was thinking of possibly doing one of the scenes, but decided against it, as i didn't know how some would react. Now that I have one suggestion, I think I may do it now!
-
Ok, here's a link to the picture. It's 720x960 Sorry for the bad quality, the lighting wasn't too good, and there were a bunch of screaming kids bumping into me... It looks like a variant of the Castle BP package from 2 years ago. I was going to pick it up, but then I saw the USD$15 price tag! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/CaptainJohnPaul/Work-of-the-General/img_0102.jpg

Or, the title can conversely be called "King Arthur as a Child." I know I pretended to be a knight when I was younger, but not quite to this extent. I saw Spamalot a few days ago, and it inspired me to make a Castle-themed MOC, but I didn't have enough pieces to make some of the set pieces on a large scale. After galloping (with coconuts) with some buddies around the town (I think they consider me the town madman, now) I decided to make this. The Black Knight as a child (or his son, whichever you prefer yourself): Top view: The kids: And the bare vignette: Comments and Criticism are welcome!
