Has it gotten more violent? Perhaps. I'd say they just have made it easier for kids to play "violent", not that it makes kids more violent. And they're still very much anti human-v-human violence aside from fantasy which even then, like others have stated, has clearly defined good guys and bad guys with distinct morals. All the other "person against person" violence comes from the licensed sets and even then are toned down a bit. I think kids would still make their favorite film heroes without official pieces and play with them "violently".

The interior is very nice. My only complaint is that the stern is a little too boxy, but that' a problem I have with my builds as well. If you could slope them inwards, the ship would be just right, in my opinion.

This is really interesting. I must say I'm in love with your concept of the hull using only bow and stern pieces. Cousarmy, thanks for linking Kurigan's technique. For your modifications, did you take the hinge pieces CGH used on the bottom and add them to the top as well?

I agree, the original CTT is one of my favorite sets. I loved playing with it, and I was one of the lucky ones to get a non-lightup Mace Windu in it. And yes, I love the original ARC-170 as well. But let me really throw you back: the Final Duel stes from ROTJ, the small little ones, you remember those? I may be biased since those were my first Star Wars sets. There may not be much there, but they were great army packs.
