  1. Got the idea of doing this from @kungfulegolover idea post on Eurobricks “Ideas for new City Sets”, though there are choices I disagree with, one of them being the mummy in the starter set, I believe that would fit more in the Pyramid. With choosing the color scheme to go with this subtheme, I went with having dark red for the vehicle for them to stand out with the background desert like with vehicles in Pharaoh’s Quest (that have the same color), I also think having the wheels being in dark gray would be a good choice as well rather than the usual black or light gray. Do to Stud.io not yet having the cobra (yet), a normal snake is being used was a placeholder. Piece highlights: Obviously we know the coffin is going to make a return for a desert subtheme as it’s relating to egyptian. But besides that some pieces that I believe would be seen again because of a desert subtheme are the cobra and hat/hair combo pith helmet from series 13. The sword and shield from the Pharaoh's Quest could make a return as well, especially sense the sword made a return in some recent Ninjago sets. With other headwear both explorers would have fedora and/or bandana, drivers would also use the bandana. The pith helmet along with the series 13 hair combo, would make sense to be used for the paleontologist. MOCs Desert ATV Minifigure: 1 Explorer Price: $5 Pieces: 62 Sticker: 1 (Desert logo on the front slop printed) This one was pretty quick as I already had an ATV design (made IRL) that was for a cancelled idea, and so I reused that for this. As you can see this ATV uses the Nexo Mech chest piece which I thought go pretty well with the grilled guard . A small side build for this is sand for the Explorer to dig up jewels. It also comes with a scorpion for the guy to watch out for. Desert Exploration Truck Minifigure: Driver and Explorer Price: $20 Pieces: 125 Sticker: 7 (desert logo on hood & both side door, lights on arch and Egyptian symbols on book page and cover) Do to the type of truck I picked for this with having some big pieces used to make it, the price to part get a pretty bad hit. Which I picked the classic america pickup truck with a hook in the back. With my idea for the vehicle, the Mudguard wouldn’t do, thus the arch pieces come to make the mudguard more thick. And do to this design choice, the lights would be stickers instead of tiles… 1001% didn’t forget them after the render. This also come with a pillar with a Scarab Shield (93251), along with a crate filled with dynamite, boomerang and a book. Desert Cargo Plane Minifigure: 2 Explorer, 1 pilot and 1 statue Price: $50-70 Pieces: 333 (+1 new windscreen piece needed for cockpit) Originally I was going to go with Kungfulegolover idea of doing a Helicrane, but instead went with a Cargo plane to use the cockpit piece (29114) that came in the Jungle Exploration site as I thought that would be a most fitting piece for the desert subtheme. Instead of there being 3 blade for the propeller, it’s using the retired (As it been last used in 2009) 2 blade. The plane is based off a german cargo plane Junkers JU-52, which the pic I first saw is why I also added yellow, so it has some color to stand out. Desert Exploration Mobile Base Minifigure: 4 desert explorers and 2 paleontologist Price: $100 Pieces: 897 (+1 new element needed for excavator) Note: the treads cannot connect all the way in Stud.io. The vehicle are pretty much based on Volcano Exploration Base (set 60124). The first thing I started making is the excavator, wanting to size it down for the truck and temple to look bigger. As this is smaller a new digger bucket piece is needed to fit with the size of it. The truck and trailer pretty much have the same base as Volcano Base but the trailer have the base of the excavator. To make the truck a bit more different I added horns for decoration and an add-on armor as the fuel tank. The playability is of the exploration team digger into the temple and retrieving the coffin, but there are traps within to keep an eye out for. Pyramid Exploration Minifigure: boss, 4 explorers, paleontologist and Mummy Price: $70-100 Pieces: 560 (plus stringe) Nowadays only D2C sets would pretty much exclusively use baseplates but I thought it being used in a normal retail set like this would be a bit of a change of things (using a 16 x 32 baseplate). The first base started was obviously the pyramid, as it’s an easy thing to make and there isn’t really much to do with it besides adding traps… which is exactly what I put in with the coffin on the side, along with a place that holds jewels and gold. With the vehicle I picked to go along with this are a helicopter and halftrack. Honestly I saw this as a chance to bring in a mistika wing with the Helicopter. Now it may be a bit bigger but the inside does have Panel for support. With the halftrack I thought it would be a good idea to use the 2 seat vehicle base (30149) as part of it. Itt have a lot of those curved slopes with stud notch to make some detail. It able to hold up supplice of 2 3x4 crate, contain a laptop, 2 brush, 2 water bottle, a water container, etc.
  2. I was mainly talking about custom clothes, thought it be obvious I be talking about that sense many of these ship projects used brick build or just not have it at all. I say that I believe that the pirate theme ships should be the exception to the rule is because they are a big part of the build, unless we be talking things like sunken ships. Also we need to take into account about idea also breaking their own rules with a recent Disney idea set. (though LEGO overall have been breaking their own rules for a long time)
  3. I know that LEGO idea have a rule of not using clothe, but these pirate theme ships really been to be made as the exception to the rule.
  4. I'm pretty sure the creator theme have the Family Home cover.
  5. I honestly thought LEGO was going to do a pixar theme Disney CMF for the 2nd series instead. I disagree with @Ashnflash choice of having Cars characters in CMF as we already have them not long ago as a returning theme, and they would use up space for other character we are unlikely to get in set form, same goes with the Toy Story characters (besides for Bo Peep as she be the most different from the 4 he picked). Though this is what I see in a Series 3 Pixar themed, some of my choices were made because of the LEGO Incredibles Video Game, as they already have printing and headwear model for them. 1. Mr. Incredible (Golden Age) (Incredibles) 2. Elastigirl (Golden Age) (Incredibles) 3. Spot (Good Dinosaur) 4. Russell (up) 5. Carl Fredricksen (up) 6. Miguel (coco) 7. Merida (Brave) 8. Linguini (Ratatouille) 9. Flik (Bugs’ life) 10. Dot (Bug’s Life) 11. Bing Bong (Inside Out) 12. Joy (Inside Out) 13. Wall-E 14: Darla Sherman (Finding Nemo) 15. Bo Peep (original outfit) (Toy Story) 16. Queen Elinor (Brave) 17. Boo’s Monster Costume (Monsters, Inc.) 18. Junior (Pixar's Mascot) <-- likely would be 1 or 2 bags per box
  6. Why did they need to add that big sign display to this. really bump up that price. The only reason I could think of why they added that is to make up for the 6 new molds they made for two minifigure in a single set. I'm likely be getting those minifigs on bricklink, along with that recolor technic piece. If these are the only two we getting in overwatch right now, it would explain why that big fig is extremely detailed. They use up all the budget for the summer wave on the fatty.
  7. I don't think we be having too much to worry about that, with the price and piece count, it for sure stick with the minifig scale. Though it looking like the original is different story.
  8. "Is this an out of season april fools joke" Like with Trolls, this is likely like be exactly like Angry Birds of only lasting for a year or a half, especially sense Minion isn't huge (and really annoying) like it was years ago... Also I'm expecting that Shrek reboot to follow in line of the many other reboot that crash and burned.
  9. Unless they meant to be late teen, rather than early or mid teens.
  10. OH MY! Jack literally running in front of the truck, we're getting death already before the theme even starts. Agree, as said many time before, they scream "hello fellow kids". The blogger thing especially not helping at all, despite the gimmick.
  11. A bit of an oof for me, I just order two hair pieces that aren't in many sets, and now I see them in the fairground. Also I like how we're seeing some parts that were used in CMF being used in these two upcoming people pack, and nice to see the Nya's leather jacket from TLNM again. That one kid hair is the only thing I don't like, I think this would've been a good chance to being the black pigtails from the Chinese New Years Set. Speaking of hair, I'm amaze we see LBM Barbara's hair again in City and with the gold printing at that. Also that newly printed cup will make a fine addition to my collection.
  12. The price is too high, I'll just get the minifigure from the CMF and whatever new recolor parts on bricklink. Besides that, it be a good set.
  13. It is show from the sets that ghost can also possess other living things (trees from the graveyard) and inanimate objects (6 out of 8 of the sets). Though I would feel like it be really cheap if they do Haunted Studio, even if we also get other possess Studio related stuff like a werewolf, knights, possess mechsuit prop and so on. Also I would love to see that shark corpse being reused, having one of the sets or wave taking place in a zoo/aquatic zoo, or have a big set big possessed cruise ship.
  14. I was thinking of that. In fact, I think they may do a swamp monster at some point, do to the LEGO Movie 2 CMF picking Swamp Creature first (assuming if we're gonna see a 2nd series) to be part of the collection out of all the other characters from the Movie. Other than Swamp Monster, I can see lots of people would love to see a full wave having zombies. Yeah that Bus is a big hard pass for me, the design is just bad, thought I am getting those minifigures on bricklink for sure. With my top of the list to get of this theme, are for sure the High School, Diner and Graveyard.
  15. Yeah, I have a feeling Dumbledore will become the first Santa (unless it gonna be like the recent Star Wars AC and no Santa), thought I would love to see Hagrid to be into Santa. I'm hoping with other minifigure, it would be another way to get Ravanclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin uniforms.
  16. Very cute build, I really like the bar use around it.
  17. I would love to see a set like that to make a return. This is amazing looking, really like the roof and boarder of using those new window pieces, though I agree with @icm about the disk, unless there a spot to spin it from the back .
  18. Thanks, but this is not meant to be made for LEGO ideas, especially sense there already good ideas related to studio on Ideas like that Modular Film Studio. This is just concept idea for what I think a Studio Subtheme for LEGO City would look like. With those $10 car normally have 1 minifigure, their basically like that Police Patrol Car in the airport and police combo of not relating to airport (even thought they could've done helicopter) but still related to it. Maybe I could've added a Track Camera or another Camera Drone.
  19. And before their all costumes.
  20. I really hope we never get something like series 18 ever again, while costume figure are nice to have, the amount that are being put in just starts to get me sick of them (Especially when you get too many of them in your hunt). @Roebuck Yeah, I completely agree, minifgiure with name tag or with something on them that make it hard to use for other things (Newt with his Bowtruckle and Batman). I think the best minifigure for a pack of original and licensed are ones that can be use for army building and reusing their clothes.
  21. These MOCs are fan concepts of my idea of what sets of a School subtheme for LEGO City would look like. In 2018 LEGO City went back to things they already done before, which being Police Forest, Mining and Arctic. Least 2019 is going to the combine of Airport and Police, along with there being mix of other city related things. But with all these Movie Maker being part of these 3 LEGO Movies, LEGO has yet to bring back Studio as a City Subtheme. So this is my concept idea for sets of a Studio Subtheme for city, and for the fun of it, it's making a big reference to Jack Stone. Minifigure: The director would have the look based on the director from the old Studio theme, I think to save a bit of money on new printing, the face could reuse the old man from the outdoor people pack. Workers would have new torso printing of having name tags, or leg printing of having name tag on the left or right leg instead while the torso could be any civilian cloth. The robbers and Jack Stone would obviously be heavy based on the original along with two of the robbers (no prisoner uniform hidden behind, but I’m pretty sure a guy in a red suit and messy cloth would be obvious already) and I think Han Solo hair would be the most fitting for Jack’s hair. MOCs Golf Cart Target price: $5 Pieces: 60 Minifig: Any fig related to Studio Sticker: 0-1 (hood with Studio logo) I try to target under $10 when making this. While this is to only have 1 minifigure, I try to make it where at least a 2nd minifigure could be put on the back, however that failed so I made a place to put the camera and other stuff in. But there is a mixel joint to make something for the cart to drag along. Accessory would be a camera. Robber Get Away and JackMobile Robber Get Away Target Price $10 Pieces: 73 Minifig: Robber Though this would be more to the police, this one could be tie together with that and the Studio subtheme of being one of the robber actor but with a prisoner uniform. Thinking of what vehicle I wanted to make for the Robber, a Hot Rod come to mind, and red was a no brainer (cop vs. robber, blue vs. red). Thankfully it was easy to add the open doors to this compare to Jack’s Sports car, I even added a book cover for the windscreen. And for a small thing on the side is a fence and chicken. The Jackmobile Target price $10 Pieces: 106 Minifig: Jack Stone I went with a sports car for Jack’s vehicle and decided to use the Speech Champions wheels along with the add-on, also thinking that the book cover piece sense they make great windscreen with no studs on it. I try to make this look like it have 2 seats even though it only holds one minifigure, this is just so I could add doors on the side Cycle Chase Scene / Camera Car This one have two concept version, one with two bikes and one with a single bike but a roof camera attachment. With the car I added a book piece for the front and a snowboard for the back, just to give people some recolor of those pieces. Camera Car: Target price: $15-$20 Minifigure: robber, two studio worker Pieces: 127 Sticker: 0-3 (Studio logo on car door, number 2 on motorcycle) Cycle Chase Scene: Target price: $20 or less Pieces: 106 Minifig: Jack Stone, Robber, Studio worker Stickr: 0-6 (Both side of car door, Jack’s bike, robber’s bike). Cycle Chase Scene target price is around $20, as it have 2 motorcycle and car like two police set that were at the same price (60042 & 60137). Helicopter Rescue Pieces: 237 Target Price: $25-$35 Sticker: 5 - 6 (Studio logo on drone, helicopter with Jack’s logo on front, side and tail) Minifigure: Studio Worker, Jack Stone, civilian I wanted to have the propellers to use to contraction blades in a city just to add something different, along with not having the piece count lower by a lot because of a multiple large pieces. I was thinking of either adding another small Helicopter or a drone, and I choose the latter; so I look at the sets with drone to see what I could do differently with mine. I went with using 3 pieces to make a 2 blade propeller instead of 3 and use a camera piece for its eye. To add some side stuff I went with a dolphin (meant to be fake shark) and a rope latter that can be attach on to the copter. Bank Heist Scene Target Price: $60 - $100 Minifigure: 2 Studio worker, Director, Bank Worker, Jack Stone, 2 Robber Pieces: 584 (565 without the extra pillar) Sticker: 1- 6 (bank sign, bikes, picture, carpet) Though the amount of studio related stuff in this is small, I try to think of what would be the big thing for this sub-theme, I went with a bank heist, along with the first floor window can easily be pushed out, instead of the whole building exploding like the original Studio set ‘1352 Explosion Studio’. The window are blue as blue screen that are used in filming, it also leave the excuse to not put anything behind the window of the front part of the building. (there’s two pin holes on the side to be place side by side with modular buildings With color scheme it was hard to choose from white or tan with dark green or blue, but decided on tan and dark green, also adding some plants and a clock for detail. I choose to have the inside to be separate to have the volt for the robbers to try and break in. Also have a office for a 2nd floor so if people have extra window screen in trans-blue/black/clear, it can be change to a normal bank.
  22. The only thing I don't like are the noodle hands, they look way too cartoony compare to the rest of it. But everything else is amazing looking, really loving that head and how the beard is connected. The present and bear are a very nice side build as well, especially like the part use for the bear ears.
  23. Really great looking, love the look of those trees and the light inside to lighten up '2019'. Though wish there was a border around the display, the plates sticking out of the display is kind of an eye sore.
  24. Pretty nice house, I really love the roof design, especially the use of part to make that round shape. The only small thing I don't like is the olive color for the tower, it really sticks out from the rest, I think it being the same color as the walls below it or maybe some other color would've work better.
  25. Thanks, I may make a taller version of the school at some point, a music room sounds good maybe have an art room along side with it. A gymnasium sound like it would be best as it's own set. But with the school I wanted to keep it small and easy to get as possible, as to look like this is meant to test the water of how a school subtheme would do, and how it goes could have the next wave of school subtheme after 3 or so years would either have more school related sets or be the same as these but with a bigger school. As for the rendering, I used Stud.io 2.0 that allow you to render.
