Someone brought up competitions... I think it'd be extremely dubious to allow non-lego parts there. If everyone is using the same parts, that levels the playing field a bit. Then it becomes about who is the better builder, instead of who can throw most money at the hardware. (For example, in our , there are additional limits that ensure that you can't toss in non-Lego parts or extra battery packs.)

Since I've been busy making instructions it's been very simple; if other people can't make the model with off-the-shelf Lego parts, it's not going to be very useful. Also, as soon as you start modifying parts, you stop looking at alternate solutions to your problem. In most situations where I thought I'd need a modified part, I ended up with an even better, 100% Lego solution later.

Finding Parts for Technic MOCs
mahjqa replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've been toying with the idea of alternate models for existing sets, but it would severely limit the building options. -

'turned into a technic set'? A very interesting premise, but very hard to actually implement. -

Thanks for taking the time to LDD this; it's always interesting to see how others go to work. A question, though; what's the significance of the parts on the side of the vehicle? -
Tumblers and a Bat!
mahjqa replied to mahjqa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Saberwing40k; Thank you! It should be fixed now. paul_delahaye; Yup, a GoPro camera is definately on my wishlist. At the moment, though, the Casio ZR200 that I work with has more going for it. (Framing a shot, being able to review and cut footage instantaneously, more control over focus and lighting) Blakbird; the whole 'no refunds' thing was for my peace of mind, yeah. I've released dozens of instructions, models and so on. Anyone can see the level of quality and dedication they're going to get. And that's why I'm stating everything up front. And I have to admit that it feels silly editing those anti-fraud measures in the images even though I've known most of you for a long time. Still, it only takes one copy to crash the entire system. -

Tumblers and a Bat!

I'm selling out! After weeks, if not months of work I've got the instructions for the black Tumbly ready. This time, I'm hoping to get something in return for all that work. If you want the instructions, Paypal an amount you deem suitable to mahjqa [a] gmail [.] com . Minimum is €5 / $6 , otherwise Paypal will eat most of it. The higher this amount is, the sooner I'll get around to mailing you the instructions. Some things to keep in mind: -The instructions you receive are not to be shared with anyone else -You'll receive a .zip file with 140 or so JPEG images. -Embedded on there, in various subtle and unsubtle ways, is your name. So should they leak, I'll know who did it. In this case, I'll reserve the right to slap you in the face. -This clever anti-piracy scheme may not be foolproof, and eventually the instructions will find their way online. There is nothing I can do about that. -In fact, eventually (months from now) I'm planning to put these online myself. -So what you're paying for is to get these before anyone else does. And to support and encourage me to build more shiny things. -No refunds for any reason. -

I'm very happy with Adobe Premiere. However, most of what I do can be done with simpler programs like windows movie maker. It's just cutting fragments to the right length and putting them in the right order, you don't need super advanced programs to do that. -

The Camo version can be found at Vayamenda.com and at Rebrickable. The black version (with L motors and servo motor) is still in progress. -
Tumblers and a Bat!
mahjqa replied to mahjqa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks everyone, for your kind replies. That makes the time I put in this worth it. Actually, the black Tumbler is a completely different vehicle, no matter how much it looks like the camo one. Also, I've got a request; Both the Bat and the black tumbler use the new power functions motors that come with set 9398; they don't seem to be in your database yet. Is there a possibility for placeholder parts, perhaps? That's pretty much the 'making of' video. Which functions are still unclear?
