Yes, it's a bit - shall I say, Alamoish? Particularly given that structure looked abandoned most the time. A couple Armada figures would look good. I like the water feature too. I wonder if someone could edit the photos onto a pre-rendered background, would like quite impressive. Bonaparte, so there was no member name or e-mail attached to this on the French forum?

I doubt there is a 'British version', not that kind of country and at any rate I get most my immediate information from Wikipedia. I wasn't suggesting that the key reason behind the war was an attempted invasion of Canada but pointing out that the Canadians did well in the land engagements and regard the war as a historical feather in their cap. Your synopsis on the naval activities proved interesting reading. Did you say Razees? I have no idea what that means but I'll look it up. And that's the reason I think it's important with these MOC threads to bring in the history because there's a fair bit to be learnt. I'm disappointed with the general historical knowledge in this forum and I'll wager many here haven't even heard of the War of 1812, in part because it's a relatively minor war but nonetheless for the type of forum this is I feel people should have a more all round knowledge of 'Colonial History' and I think it gives more meaning to the MOC's when people understand when, where and why the model is being made, especially in the case of the Constitution as it was a real ship. As I've explained before I don't have access to my lego and as always we are limited by the pieces we have but if I did have the opporunity to make MOC's I'd always want to build something historical and provide a little background information with it. I'm not being mean to the other members but I'll always be more interested in something like the USS Constitution rather than someone just making a generic USS ship because some research has gone into it and the history is there, that's why I was willing to make an appropriate flag for you.

Which Pirate LEGO faction do you support?

The reason Soldiers and Imperial Guards are beating the Pirates in the voting is simply because... No one wants shipmates who look and smell like the poxy, rum-stained, flatulating and inebriated sons of some cheap Nassau brothel that you all are. :-P Oh and by the way - Merry Christmas! X-D Yes I had counted on your vote as one of the few bankable reds but it looks like we'll need to go to war with the blues to win this. X-D Perhaps we need to team up with the Imperial Armada and Islanders, they aren't looking so hot... -
Well I'm really not the most technically capable when it comes to doing digital backgrounds of sunsets and such but it takes very little effort to put a blue board behind the MOC's or take them outside into a natural environment like Bonaparte suggests. There are some great models but I find it hard to appreciate them when my eye is distracted by the mess of the house or room in and around where the model sits.

The reason I didn't list them as "Imperial Soldier" is because Lego simply called them Soldiers in the catalogues and the reds were named Imperial Guards as well as the conquistador types being named "Imperial Armada" so it's not the listing inaccuracy it may seem though we commonly reffer to both fractions as Imperial here because it's an appropriate adjective. You mean 0% British/Irish or 0% English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish... as British is not a sinonym for English, that tends to upset a few Scots and Welsh, and rightly so, the mistake is made far too often and it's comparable to Canadians being called American because they are part of North America. I will be using the blues to represent the Scottish colony of Darien prior to the Union and creation of Great Britain, they are the more versatile of the two colours. It's hard to find a country that doesn't use blue in it's uniforms and maybe that's why I preffer the red, it's a bit more exclusive. -

Ditto, though it's good to see us reds fighting back, we were looking too much of a distant second there. -
That's very impressive, pity we don't have a name to go with it. It looks more like a real fortress to me - square structure with four-sided ramparts. The only thing that's always such a shame with this and almost every MOC is that people go to such lengths with the model but don't take care with the display, hang a blue sheet behind for the sky or put the model on a blue or green blanket, atleast something!

EB Pirates! - Episode 1, Green Hair and the Yellow Thief
Col. Whipstick replied to El Bucanero's topic in Pirate MOCs
Ugh those commercial breaks! As if tv wasn't bad enough they've invaded our comics! I would ask for Miss Bikini 1728's phonenumber but I imagine that wench isn't looking too healthy anymore... :-X That must have been a lot of hard work guys, how many hours do you recon went into it? -

Nah, the reality is blue has always been a colour used by almost every single nation ever so more members will feel a stronger affinity for blue. Even Britain used sufficient blue when it comes to the navy etc, though the British and a few of the Commonwealth members are mighty keen on their reds. I also think people see it as the blues came before the reds, atleast in Lego Pirates so they take precedence. I'm a little more suprised that the Islanders have overtaken the Armada figs because everyone, myself included seems to say they like the Armada figs and would vote for them second etc and no one has every really championed the Islanders in this forum. I'm wondering now if I should have included another option - one for the wildlife, perhaps the sharks and crocodiles will eat everyone and rule the seas! :-P -
Looks like I'll have to give this one a miss too... *Thinks of my poor little ship in ITP locked up in a box with all my other lego 10 000 km away* :'-(

What qualifies as successful, a certain number of replies?

Doesn't this kinda relate to that thread we had about what Lego should release as a new official pirate line? Personally I feel there should be new parts made, certain pieces that would enrich our building so if Lego would never re-release Pirates it would be nice if they atleast opened up the old mold production and a few new things made. Epaulettes in some different colours like green for example wouldn't take much. And we all know the agony of the shortage of shakos etc. |-/

No one is suggesting otherwise but the 13 Colonies were British colonies, certainly at the time of the American Revolution, not French or German colonies regardless of them living there so they were primarily settled by Brits and Irish and certainly regarding colonial regions outside the US the mass multiculturalism is a relatively new condition owing to global liberal political agendas of the later 20th century. The ship is from the War of 1812 and that post was on the War of 1812 so I feel it is perfectly within the realms of the topic. Things have more often than not deviated considerably more off topic in other threads but that isn't picked up. Your reason for protest here whilst evident from your having differing opinions in no way lessens the significance of that particular post being relevant to the War of 1812.

The intreague of your alliegence has lost it's appeal now, I'm too busy thinking of who felt sorry enough to vote for the Islanders. :-P The only sad thing about these polls is how people just vote to keep things even rather than what they really believe in, like how it was for the Holloween competition. -
*Coughs, chokes* *Gasping for air* *Coughs some more* *Gasp* Oh the fog of war... Easily your best work yet TinyPies. You'll have to excuse me for not being able to say so earlier but I was struggling to breathe for all your excellent smoke. That looks extremely cool! I notice now you didn't have to improvise the red uniforms either. *y* I also like the multiple angles you've shown in the photos that aren't seen in the single painting, particularly the scenes from behind the defenses and inside the farm building.

Well I have more blues than reds unfortunately, reds seem harder to get hold of... probably because more people preffer them :-P Anyway, my blues work for my reds. Alas... If only I had the finances to make my army of Green Imperials. -

Well at the time I voted there was only two votes and seeing as I'd only just voted when you'd made the poll I am surprised by your choice and here I thought you were a Conquistador through and through. -

Col. Whipstick replied to Col. Whipstick's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well ask yourself whether the blue or red uniforms have to represent France and Britain? Just choose which colour you preffer, afterall Lego never called them French or British and that's what this poll is about - what Lego created not what we interpret. -
Well the ship is too modern a design to belong to the Armada forces given really the Spanish and Portuguese would be more at home in Galleon's. Of course this ship could be Iberian just not of the Golden Age era. Likewise I'd follow this logic for the Dutch so in all reality the ship should be British/French/American. This being the case Soldiers or Imperial Guards would be more ideal though I'd recommend red uniforms given the ship is largely very red and it would tie in nicely. Perhaps the nationality of our ship is best determined by the name of the ship. Notice how for example the Americans name their ships after places or people, whereas the British name their ships after adjectives or concepts.

You just can't help but hope the islander is going to stick that pirate over the fire and go cannibal. X-D

It should be but I can't make a poll. Hopefully one of the big wigs around here will notice my thread and put a poll on it. Anyway, let me take this opportunity to welcome you to the forum Brickulator, the more the merrier and certainly if you have a lot to say, we seem to have loads of members but few you'd call active. I know I'm not one of the big wigs here but sure they'll give you the official welcome aboard when they get to it. Well fortunately this isn't based on the numbers of minifigs as that would be impossible to prove but by the affiliation of our members. I have more pirates than anything and more blues than reds personally but I'm still an Imperial Guard at heart and so far the only one to this thread. I think the Islanders are going to come off the worst here... Don't get too comfortable with that title laddie... the Royal Navy is watching you. X-D -
