  1. The bigger they are... the easier they are to aim at. Just remember that! X-D
  2. Could I live with myself ever buying these? *Checks conscience for about 0.00001 second* Nope! X-D
  3. I'd be a lot more accepting of brown epaulettes on soldiers (blues) rather than imperial guards. Blue and brown seems to clash a lot less than red and brown. White looks good on everything naturally.
  4. Already working on it Phessy, done about half a dozen different locations so far, in plain, antique and showing territorial colours. I haven't rushed ahead because there wasn't much response on my post nor on Lord of Pies maps.
  5. Hmm, so much for the Dutch Secret Service then. :-P Surely we can all pretend we never saw anything. ;-)
  6. It looks good to me Capt. K though I wouldn't have a clue where to start with these backgrounds. I really am in the 17th century when it comes to technology. The spray isn't quite right but it's a good extra feature and a great way to soften the difference between the superimposed picture and the background. *y*
  7. Most the little backstories on the boxes weren't particularly inspiring but that one is... It's fairly exciting and gives some background on the relations between the Pirates and the Soldiers.
  8. Welcome to the forum HMS243! It could just be me but I haven't seen you before and see you're relatively new.
  9. I didn't say the marines wore blue... I meant the officers and crew - i.e. - of the ship. Obviously the marine officer will be wearing the red with yellow epaulettes the same as his troops. Perhaps you'd have to use a different hat or face to denote rank. The tophats aren't quite right because the cyndrical part should be more conical than what they are. Funnily enough I did a graphic design of what you're talking about and I only wish lego had made these - halfway between the tophats and the shakos.
  10. It says... here is Forbidden Island, haven for the criminal, villanous, poxy vile scum you don't want living next door to you. :-P
  11. Couldn't have said it better! There are many items I'd preffer to see rendered as a mold over weaponry. Different colour epaulettes etc. I think most are fairly happy with the official Lego cutlass, musket and pistol. That's not to say a musket with a removable boyonette wouldn't be appreciated, it's just I think it's a fair bit down on the list of customised pieces we'd like to see.
  12. To me the Imperial Guards are the Imperial Guards... This means that as lego made them is exactly how I want them to look. Blue epaulettes for grunts, yellow for officers. If you want to change the colour or order of the epaulettes then what you have is not 'Imperial Guards', it's something else, British of some description etc. I think of the Soldiers (those that wear blue) in exactly the same fashion. It's that simple to me. Most would be inclined to say that yellow looks good on grunts, making them particularly British. White is a very useful colour of epaulette as an alternative for officers. I'm looking into using white and possibly brown ones to represent Portuguese troops at some point. Honestly I'd find the brown on red a bit naff...
  13. Basically you'd want to use the standard red imperial trooper, though with yellow epaulettes. That figure is almost entirely a British marine, the actual officers and crew would be wearing navy blue etc.
  14. Looks like I might have to reduce the size of the template, is it just that bit too big for the 2x2 tile piece?
  15. I yeah for sure... if the maps are meant to go with the early early stuff they will be too accurate but in the end of the day we have to take slight liberties with history, otherwise the maps would look too much like the default lego one - just a lump of Terra Incognita. Also the maps will run really for the length of our time and I'm sure that by the 19th century the mapping was fairly good. Besides, how much accurate detail can one fit on something so small?
  16. That's a good question, admittedly most are modified versions of one another... I would probably say around an hour per flag, lot of playing around and reading up on wikipedia.
  17. You don't want to see my British Isle version, too much of a squeeze. :-/ Yours seem a lot more proportionate Lord of Pies! Did you also use MSPaint? How do those look printed out because I'm wondering if working on such a small scale our stuff will end up like an ink blob? :-/
  18. Oh well... that's technology for you. Atleast he knows where to look.
  19. Of course I have... Ka Boom, this is only a quick sampler, believe me when I get going, if I get going I'll have hundreds of these. I have already done French ones. I'm simply not going to continue until someone prints out so I can see they work otherwise I would waste loads of hours on something that isn't going to work. The flags took ages of resizing and many e-mails between myself and Lord of Pies to get the sizes right before I could continue. By the way - I like the avatar!
  20. Their flag is a little too close to that of Nova Scotia. Had thought to make that just to show the difference. I doubt the Northern Fleet does much these days except have fender benders with Norweigan fishing trawlers.
  21. Blue Dog, here is your flag, you were lucky to get it as I hadn't heard from you and I'm losing interest in doing further flags fast. That's really it now guys... No more flags until I'm ready, I actually don't feel like doing any more ever, or anything at all considering the crap I've gotten from another forum. I honestly don't feel like checking in here anymore if I have to deal with that sort of thing.
  22. I'm not going to be baited. I have the right to my opinion much as that annoys you Natelite. The discussion is now finished.
  23. I'm looking at doing that when I mentioned a large wall map but it'll be a bit of time away, I want to make a load of regional sized ones first. Could someone print those out though and tell me how they look or is the scale too small and the ink too thick from the print?
  24. What about the whale, icons etc? Too much, not enough? I like the idea of showing territory and will look into making wall maps that would go on the walls of cabins, inside the governor's office, that sort of thing because one can show a bit more detail than what's going on that tiny map.
