  1. Way down in the bottom - 'Nati.
  2. Fun. If you like these, Toys R Us usually has 5-6 similar displays. At least mine does. They often have nobs that rotate things. Target has 2-3 similar displays. At least mine does... etc.
  3. Greetings! I am also new and also from Ohio. Which part do you reside? Enjoy EB.
  4. Oooo, I had to comment here as I am working on a Suntron MOC too! (It's about 50%, but a few weeks away.) Very bold decision to go all* yellow. I... hesitated on mine, it's about 75% yellow, 20% white with 5% trans bright blue highlights / cockpit. I like the engine, within engine, within engine look. Also props to the minimal weaponry; in regards to the source material, ST I believe was meant as a civilian faction, so some weapons are appropriate for fighters, but not too many. Critique? Hrm. A playability issue perhaps. Taking off the cockpit breaks the gun on top, no? Also, no interior cockpit? No minifig? If you are going almost all yellow, why the two white pieces? If they are meant to be bold accents, then perhaps they should be in more prominent locations (like a racing stripe). Overall though, nice job. Finally, if you are into Flickr, you can add this the Suntron group for more recognition: http://www.flickr.com/groups/lego_suntron/
  5. Legostein: Gotcha. I tend to overuse trans light green so I think I cut them back here. Actually, that is almost the extent of my lime green, so maybe it's good I didn't have more. Computerbug: Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. It was sort of the aesthetic I was going for, the circuit board metaphor meant I built a flat plane and added pieces / details that look more stock to it. Each piece isn't supposed to jive with the rest. Just plopped on an assembly line. That's why the sensors look boring, the cockpit is one piece, the large cannon is oversized, the engine sits on top, etc.... then the connections are made the easiest way possible. For the exposed studs, that was a design choice as well. Since it's low stud (minus the greebs) I left some studs exposed at certain spots to give texture, the hollow studs at the cockpit, the asymmetrical stripe on the cockpit top, the L plus 1x1 logo, etc. (Or maybe I'm making excuses b/c I have no lime tiles?) ------- Thanks for the critiques, glad you all liked it and the comments help me a lot! Blacktron forever.
  6. OK. Question to staff, I might have missed it, but what kind of time period do we have after all minifig clues are given to find all of them? I ask, since I I am behind a few... will I have no time or weeks to research the ones I missed? Thanks.
  7. Bad pictures but I get the idea. Keen! If I can find my cutting mats and X-Actos I might try one.
  8. Incredible! I don't think I can do justice using words. Don't know anything about HP, but this is great. Full of nice details from: - dirt texture at rails - planter styles (not sure if I have seen that 2x2 tile version before) - Tudor dark frame style - great trees! - all kinds of nice slope bricks and elements for the walk-over - bay windows look gorgeous Could go on, to the interiors, at least. Sorry, I always try to include some criticism or help in my reviews, but I'm at a loss here. Great style, and "I'm a conformist!!" (as another user says) Matn!
  9. Ha! Great. I've seen this or something similar... somewhere. Who knows where though? Also... props for keeping the lime green Power Miners color scheme.
  10. I fall into (I guess) the most common category... Display for a few months (hopefully to show off to real life friends once), take pictures, then dissemble and sort. Exceptions for me are only one so far: 4504 Millenium Falcon. Everything else is assimilated. EVERYTHING! But... I see the other side. If you can afford it, keeping a small number of sets / MOCS fully assembled makes sense.
  11. Has anybody ever shrink-wrapped a set to preserve a set? If so, you might make friends with certain store employees. I worked at a certain office supply store back in the day, and we had a shrink wrap machine in the back. If not that route, you can probably do at home with shrink wrap and a hair dryer. Keeps dust off as well.
  12. Proceed directly to your trash can. Deposit non-LEGO. Hard to say. Sounds like it could be a castle gate piece. If they say LEGO, they are, or you can post a picture here.
  13. Oh, I must have missed this! Great big-vig! The robot is futuristic, complex, yet... clunky and primitive (with claws and teeth and such) at the same time. Make sense? If one criticism, perhaps a bit of variance in the grassy area. Too repetitious. A bit of dirt, or patchy grass, or small 1 or 2 stud hill could have been nice. Not too much though to distract from the main attraction!
  14. Interesting build. The central wing looks a lot like the newish Star Wars shuttle... the one with new Vader, but looks a lot better with studs on both sides. Even TLG didn't use this nicer solution! Surprisingly roomy interior. One criticism: the flames are weird and distracting to my eye. I'd try trans-red bars (AKA lightsaber elements) or trans-red antennas like the old Space Police jail bods instead. More sci-fi and cleaner looking. I like the lime accents. If you are into Flickr, it looks like your MOC falls into the guidelines of Blacktron 3. I made a MOC last week to BT3 and you can check it (down the sub-forum a bit) for the link to the Flickr group to post your MOC there or see more lime green. I had problems with how much green to use too!
  15. Nice start to a shape, but needs a lot more! Even at midi-scale, you need some details that give us a idea what it is. If you hadn't told me, I can't tell if it's a spacecraft, a land or hover type craft, or an underwater craft. Try details like... engines / propulsion methods, weapons, sensor arrays, doors, exhaust, communications, etc.
  16. You might just have to get creative. There is certainly a lot of "overalls" torsos in City/Town (a lot in the Farm line) and if you've gone through them and don't like them... hmm. Maybe if your store has a color theme you can use mono-color torsos. Otherwise, load up Bricklink, hit town minifigs and browse. Some of the Adventurers line had some basic tan w/ pockets torsos if I remember right... EDIT: The Adven one I was thinking about was this one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=973pb307c01
  17. /me likes this. You might not have any, but perhaps dark green and green instead of green and lime green? Less color contrast might look better here.
  18. Marvelous. The texture of the rib cage and the half-cocked tire head really do it for me; that and the animal tail piece arms are novel too. One thought: perhaps a non-black base would accent the sculpture better? First look I thought it was a foot... any neutral color would be nice, tan, light grey, light bley... white, if ya wanna go ying/yang style.
  19. Ahhhh, every time I see Clickits, it reminds me I want some. /runs to Bricklink But I know nothing about them, what pieces can be used on studs, dimensions, etc. Is there a Clickets MOC AFOL'er guide or something? Ahem. Sorry for that. Back on the topic at hand... This is quite nice, and looks good to the source material. The use of minifig heads and the "rail" plate is novel. That and the... CLICKETS! EDIT: I'll probably say over there too, but thanks to the comments on my recent MOC.
  20. Logging in. Loading Blacktron 3 ship files. Loaded. Search term? prompt/ Instigator 1 Entry found Log Entry 1: The B3 Instigator, simply put, is a "jack of all trades"; (but master of none) fighter. BT3 designers took the "less structure for more weapons"; approach here. Nicknamed "flying wing"; by BT3 vets, the design incorporates a sort of circuit-board approach; the wing structure is a platform for weapons, sensor arrays, and the such to be be installed on top, while connections are run to each. Visible connections and the wide area necessitated the shield generator seen near the middle. Attacks on large capital ships or ground installations is made possible by the large gamma cannon while attacks to small craft is via the rotary laser guns near the middle. The cockpit comes with two small cargo holds for a bit of storage. Short and long range sensor arrays are on the opposite end; engine is in rear. Seen pictured here is Lieutenant Markov. I'd watch yourself if you meet the pilot. He's gone a little crazy since he lost his hand. Next Entry? /prompt N Logging out. --------------- The best way to view this (so I don't have to resize everything) is with the higher res photos and tagged items here at my Flickr album! But if you like MOCPages it's there too. Color scheme / building guidelines / design inspirations via standards set at http://www.flickr.com/groups/blacktron3 A teaser shot (sized for EB) here: B3I-Splash by TheWarden007, on Flickr Hope you enjoyed and thanks for looking!
  21. I haven't started #2 yet... but I think I've found one in advance. Stumbled on it. Sorry, I shall give no hints. Wonder how far in advance... #3 or #16? Heh. EDIT: Well, I guess I know more about LEGO than I thought, b/c I found #2 easy-peasy - first try. But I'll agree good clue, though. Nice forum game, EB!
  22. I'm bringing this back, since you built a vignette around it! http://www.flickr.com/photos/jameson42/4858195131/in/photostream/ I love the new vig. Mama bear was funny, but there is loads of fun details in the room: toys, furniture, the wall treatment / chair rail, window sill... Well done, Jameson42.
  23. I don't know much about HP, but I know a well-done bar MOC when I see one. The partial front is clever, nice patrons, and a guy getting a chair to the face (Did I miss who threw it?) was funny. Nice work, Mocer.
  24. I wasn't around for this in Jan so.... Awesome! Best Mythbusters figs around and you are lucky to meet the crew. Nice work!
  25. You might be able to use your college's light box / photog setup / etc. which might be better / not in your space. What to bring? Lots of little pieces might be nice if you build microscale. Otherwise.... not sure. What do you store in? I store in plastic shoeboxes with lids. If you don't have a lot of floor space, go up! My storage containers can stack as high as I want.
