  1. I don't know if I have understood your question correctly, but yes the designs can be reprinted at any time by the company. First I have to solve one design problem (the hole at the top of the hat) but afterwards everyone can order this item ... andreas
  2. Today the 3rd trial arrived for my new french shako design. It was done by a different printing service where prices beyond 2.50 EUR can be reached per piece. The first impression can be seen in this picture: Unfortunately there was a design or printing failure and the top of the hat wasn't closed. I'm clarifying that during the next days with the company. In the meantime I closed that with fimo to get some pictures done. But the principle results can be seen ... Here is a more detailed picture: In principle the quality is good (I also used a new material: white and flexible, which is cheap but robust) The preview of this item can be found here: http://www.shapeways.com/model/8103/french_shako.html After having solved the problems I will gave the dragoon helmet a try: http://www.shapeways.com/model/8324/austri...ier_helmet.html Austrian Hussars: Andreas
  3. Now all Hats have become printable and are ordered. Currently we have: - French Shako - Ulan Shako - Dragoon helmet - Grenadier Shako (Austrian) - Hussar Kolpack Here's a link to the missing Dragoon Shako Model: http://shop.rapidobject.com/shop/de/products/view/428 The prices for Ulan and Dragoon seems now acceptable, but for the others not, so I've opened a 2nd printing resource for the french model, which can be seen here: http://www.shapeways.com/model/8103/french_shako.html (Other material, white, better price, acceptable for mass ordering) Also here a order is pending. With some luck I can present the results next week. Andreas
  4. I think for building figures there's some stuff available: - Mamelukes (Napoleonic) - Brickforge offers now -- Arabian helmets -- Turbans -- Round Shields -- Weapons ... Custom Decals are not known to me, but the original lego torso used for Mamelukes can be used for starting new designs ... Andreas
  5. Here's another one: I think that was already presented but may I pay your attention to: - the french bearskin shako (which allows a lot of french troops to be built) - the drum equipment (maybe tanotrooper can share the parts since I can't see exactly of what parts this design is built on) Click the picture to follow the link ... One Example for using the bearskins (but also dragoons, gendarms, ...) Andreas
  6. From time to time I find some interesting army stuff at brickshelf, which are worth to be shown to the comunity. I wondered where to bring that in, but didn't find a topic. Here's a Vignette showing a gunner scene: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=347759 The very interesting part is the gun, because the parts are given in an extra picture: Andreas
  7. The shop has adapted it's price (as I hope correctly) and now the price is given as 3,18, which seems attractive to me now. http://shop.rapidobject.com/shop/de/products/view/421 Please beware this objet isn't verified yet. There are 2 further waiting for the printing OK (dragoon, hussar). Then I will buy the first charge and present the results.
  8. Some more are public now: Ulan: Austrian Grenadier: Andreas
  9. Molding I: 3d print http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=21932 Ulan Shako: Molded 3d-print http://shop.rapidobject.com/shop/de/products/view/421 Shako Thread http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...shako&st=30 French Lancer, Austrian Hussar, Austrian army http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...amp;hl=Austrian Andreas
  10. Nice landwehr creation ... I will react with my Austrian/Prussian contigent: Still waiting on my dragoon helmet to buld up a dragoon regiment ... By the way, maybe someone (Napoleon) has also a tip for some resin based spray or gloss for building a clean surface for molded parts. Andreas
  11. The folder seems to be public now: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=345972 Yes you are right, the surface looks a little bit crumped, but that should be improved with a finer printing granularity. If not, some improvement can be done with sand paper. At least I can show the possibilities which can be reached with the current status of 3d print: - the items fit to the minifig head - the borders with 1 mm are sufficent - the 3d creation process can be done with open source means (k3d) - stl export has been written by me - there's a public print shop available - everybody can buy from this shop - best case price can be seen with the french style shako after loading up the improved design - nearly all sort of items can be created with this procedure - it's a good an inexpensive mean for fast 3d prototyping even without cnc tools Drawbacks: - it seems that some final handling is needed (sand paper or some varnish) - the price is maybe a little to big for mass buys, let's see the final calculation Andreas
  12. I've got some examples from the 3d print shop for some shako designs. Here are some results: The prints are not in fine print modus, they are only to verify the principle design. They have fit immedeatly, and so far they are ok. The following designs are available and will be uploaded soon: - French shako (smaller then in the picture, a plumb on top, ...) - Hussar (more expanded, maybe without plume) - Ulan - Dragoon - Austrian Grenadier Andreas
  13. Cool stuff :-) Indeed a new rifle would also be welcome ... Andreas
  14. Tried that several times with two different printers and the results were far away from yours. You mentioned using an old flat bed scanner? Maybe that's the miracle (using another kind of sensor) ... Andreas
  15. You mean you have scanned the minifig? I like this idea since I want to improve my minifig-generator which does exactly this step of pasting on a web page. Did you use a peace of paper as background? Andreas
  16. But isn't that aproximated very good with the original lego hat, which exists in any colour.
  17. Can you give me a reference picture.
  18. Yes that's fine. Nevertheless I will try to finish the principle technique and possible prices for this kind of work. I've added a second object: a hussar kolpack. This one has a own design and is not based on a lego part. http://shop.rapidobject.com/shop/de/products/view/420 I've also added an ulan which is not public yet. I will get some test objects next week I hope. Then I will publish the photos. With this design I'm able to nake any kind of shako we want ... Not solved yet: The first impression was that prices beyond 5 EUR will be possible. But this couldn't be reached now. Andreas
  19. Good point, that was also one of my assumptions ... Thanks for the reference. Andreas
  20. To my point of view it should be no big problem to have both types. Since it was also common that there were different dresses in one army. Sometimes also big parts got new dress codes and some parts had still the old ones ... Maybe if you don't like this idea you can use the old ones for cavalry and the new ones to make aven bigger infantry units. andreas
  21. Currently I'm trying to find a puplic 3d printer. Yesterday I gave it a try and the results can be seen here: http://shop.rapidobject.com/shop/de/products/view/419 But beware the object isn't verified yet and since there's a minimal number of pieces I have to check how I can verify the item at minimal costs. Andreas
  22. Not really a moc but since there was so long no new message I present the newest page of Minifigs based on Knoetel drawings (so it's still nearby) .... http://lego-minifig-generator.mac-au.eu/pn...goKnoetel4.html Andreas
  23. During my investigations to have a low cost production process of custom items I found the possibility to print them via 3d printers. That's interesting for quick trials and items not worth for mass production ... The first results can be seen in the custom shako thread. I also found an internet store where such items can be uploaded by the designer. The store afterwards makes the complete ordering, printing, selling, sending process for the public, sharing some revenue with the designer. The 3d modell itself is not public. That would also be very nice for Will's designs not going into mass production. Do you think Will can imagine this? Andreas
  24. what a shame .... One question. The prototypes we see are all made with the aluminium cast box built with Will's CNC machine. Andreas
  25. 1) The pistol would be a new great item. Is it finding it's way to mass production? 2) Any rifle suitable for this periode with attachable bayonnet would be great. 3) And a sabre looking like this would also be great ... Andreas
