Since most of the Italieri boxes were done by Guiseppe Rava, I would point him out as artist with a question mark. I would also do that for the Austrian gunner scene, since a lot of paintings on the side I got it was also done by him. Andreas

Damned got me. You're to clever for me .... ;-)

You're right ... For a short time I've thought it maybe a painting by Guiseppe Rava, who is also the painter of my avatar. I've taken a look on his side. But I've found no evidence for my assumption ... From the style point of view it maybe. Also he is one of the coautors of the side I've taken the picture from. So far we can only use the text on the side beside the picture: In 1814 at the battle of Arcis-sur-Aube Napoleon was knocked off his horse by a bursting Austrian shell and disappeared in the smoke. Then he got up - unhurt. Andreas

That's true, but for the decals I can make also different changes fast ... Andreas

Austrian Artillery Unfortunately I don't know the painter and the event. I'm sure I've found that also elswhere in the net but I wasn't successfull so far. Andreas

Looking on the detailed scene I fell some prickles to design some decals for the torso based on the painting .... I did a Nelson and added some fitting decals from Mosana: Nelson Officer on the right: Mosana's comodore Mosana's captain Doctor? Sailor: If you're interested I can give you some hints how to bring them on the torsos. Andreas

No, although I'm a linux guy I used the good old mspaint as shown in mosana's tutorial - shame on me . But at the end it is easy to use with the needed functionality and the tutorial gives some usefull tipps how to achieve the necessary results. andreas

That's a set of Italieri for 1/72 figures. The most covering collection concerning napoleonic minifigs you can find from H

For this scene I made special decals nearly for all of the figures. The french one got also decals for the back as also visible in the original painting. The french officers got also different fronts as in the picture. Andreas

Morning of Waterloo by Aylward. The Duke of Wellington Accepts a cup of tea from the 1st Battalion 95th Rifles. Andreas You can als do a google picture search using painting and some keywords from the napoleonic area. for example: painting napoleon storming

Don't you think that's the better one ...

And here are the decals for the torsos: Hensel (I have to admit already in the new design according to Mosana's howto) Austrian Infantry Austrian Artillery French: But here are Mosana's decals, which I prefer over my old ones:

Hauptmann Hensel: Geniecorps (Pioneers and Sappeurs), commander of the defenders Artillery Supply Staff: Brown/Blue Artillery: Brown/White Infantry: White French Infantry ? It happend during the french offensive 1809 through the Kanaltal. The Austrian forces were ordered back and the defenders got the task to hinder the french corps as long as possible. They did it for some days with a corps of less then 300 soldiers. After all the french stormed the fort with the help of one troop searching their way trough the mountains in the back of the defenders. That's why it's called the Austrian Thermopyles, since the end of the story reminds to the greek story. The 300 soldiers had a loss of 80 dead and further 80 wounded whereas the 17th may was reported with 1300 dead and wounded by the french. I found a very good sumary but unfortunately only in german: 1809 Andreas

92b I did a 2nd trial to adapt the painting of A.Adam "Austrians Thermopyles". Hope to add some further pictures soon ... Andreas

Exactly. Maybe we get more of them ... And I like to see more of them when I think of the retreat of Moscwa, which is a very nice example. If there's a need for special decals I'm willing to help . Andreas

Very well done! I think the arranging of the figures surrounding Bonaparte is done in a way which reflects the idea of the original painting without copying it. Want to see more vignettes of that quality ... Andreas

May I put your attention to this fake shakoo: I have to admit if I could solve my shakoo problem with this I wouldn't mind. (Shame on me ...) Andreas

Like this topic .... >:-) I would vote for a separete index in Bonapartes thread. We have now two scenes/vignettes based on paintings: Hougemont/Gibb Morning before Waterloo/Aylward Any more available? Andreas

I usually do it the same way: - Putting all the decals I need to a MS Powerpoint side - giving them the correct size - printing it on photo paper -- someone has argued that he uses finest ink quality because that gives the chance that the ink also comes to the deeper layers of the paper which might reduce the white strips on the side of the decal after cutting. - then I cut a rectangular stripe of decals (4-5 pieces) - to protect the decals I put a layer of adhesive tape on it (Tixo) - then i cut the decal completly - and put it with a uhu stick glue on the minifig Andreas -
My consideration was that using mlcad it may be easier (or maybe faster) to exchange parts, positions or maybe to reuse something from a former doing? Andreas

That are both great buildings but oo7's picture has some additional dramaturgy for me ... Andreas

Maybe I've missed it but what have you used for drawing and how long did you spend for the picture. Does it give you a better(faster?) possibility to try it? I'm interested in experiences you made with that kind of preparation. I was not sure concerning the arguments for opening the doors. When I remember some visits I think they swung inwards. Here's a picture of Hochosterwitz: one of the most important castles against enemies from the east. It has 14 doors. When fleeding back I think closing a door from the outside against a pressing enemy is hardly to do. But not sure at all ... Andreas

Sorry but since my mother tongue is not english and some details of the english/britsh(?) history are not present (damned I thought history is one of my hobbies) ..... ... or in this case I have to say my mother tongue is not british (.... I'm confused now ...). But by the way, also often phrases common and understandable are sometimes hard to difference. Is "to come down" : (kidding, annoyed, instructive ...) ? As we are on the point: Should I explain the differences between k.u.k, k.k., k. Austrian-Hungary .... ;-)

Are the Imperial Armada really all just Spanish?

To underline this point of view here's an english pikemen: That does mean grey trousers, breast plate on a green body and the helmet results in an english men. You will find a lot of pictures supporting this for other nations. Andreas
