  1. Thanks for the input, I'm trying to match with the "Lego design aesthetic". Can you give me a hint which parts you feel as over-detailed to bring that in with the next adjustements ... Andreas By the way, the beta version of the shop is available for a first visit. http://www.shapeways.com/shops/minifigcustomsin3d (beware it's still beta and maybe unstable till 8th January)
  2. I've updated the Baker rifle Design (see picture above) and actually I'm working on a Pallasch and a Periwig Andreas
  3. So far I also have used acryl colors: - warhammer - revell - tamiya Andreas
  4. Excellent designs. And now also reusable with the generator ... Andreas
  5. I've a run at the moment ... - Yes and no, I intended to make a prototype for a rifle which can be varied to different forms. -- the baker for skirmishers -- brown bess -- smaller sized for cavalry - 2nd I have to check if such an item is 3d printable. - 3rd: the manufactorer starts a personalized shop very soon,, which I will use for selling. For designing I use K-3d. Blender or sketchup would also be an opportunity. Andreas
  6. Unfortunately a lot of things, that*s only the basic design: - checking for correct sizes - checking if the mesh is waterproofed (to be printable) - converting to 3d format usable by manufacturer - uploading - doing the 1st check by the manufacturer - getting the 1st prototype - doing some corrections - 2nd pass .... Andreas
  7. I've stzarted to work on a rifle which fits more to the beginning of the 19th century (Napoleonic times) Here's a first snapshot: Andreas
  8. Mosana has some designs for the 7 year war which are very suitable for this picture ... That may also be a good starting point The hat looks more like a beret. Andreas
  9. Based on this hint that can be the outfit: I've used Mosana's torso design: Also I've seend troops with top hats, Bicornes and Farmers in this picture link. Andreas
  10. Yes, there's already a French Shako with 0,8 wall size ordered. The Ulan makes some problems ... Also the British shako is already based on that design. Let's wait for the results. Back to brickarms and brickforge. I was in contact with both and they use traditional molding forms. The advantage is that they got cheap mass peaces but the molding costs the price. The last info I got from them was more then 10T $. I think there's also a remark in the minifig customization center. The plastic injection itself is afterwards cheap and so it can be reporoduced very fast. Therefor I was searching for a cheaper method, which I found with 3d printing at higher per piece price and the surface looking a little bit grainy. But for some items that's not the problem and if somebody spent time in sanding it can be improved. Andreas
  11. I'm working on the shop version but based on the experience from french shako I assume $2 - $2.5. Andreas
  12. The problem is that: - LEGO is the owner of the design - a form costs some thousend EUR But the new shakos should be available soon, isn't that an oportunity. I also had the design already available for 3d print but I didn't test it for copyright reasons and availablilty of the new pirate series. In princible it's also possible to use my french shako as basic and make an shako which comes very nearby. If that's wanted I can make a test version ... Andreas

    Bajonette

Today I've uploaded a new mesh where I minimized the borders to 0,8. That's the minimal possible size. Will give it a check with the next order. http://www.shapeways.com/model/12104/french_shako_v3.html Additionally I've visited today the Military Museum in Vienna and checked the typical bajonettes of this area. I think the principal design matches. To make it more realistic the attaching element should be twice as large. Concerning length there were differnt lengths used. From 20 cm to half a meter. I saw the picture of a J

    Bajonette

I think it's wrong but the bigger one was at 0,33 cent ... For the ones which have asked for the way I intend to sell, there are now two remaining possibilities: - bricklink ... there's already a test store woody64 custom 3d prints - but more favourable is the newest offer from the printing office which plans to open a shop possibility with the begin of january andreas

    Bajonette

Uuups .... Thanks for the hint there was something wrong in the final sizing. Here's a correct version ... http://www.shapeways.com/model/12025/bajonette.html Hopefully that dimensions are printable. Let's see. Andreas If you mean with fur the surface of the item that's right. That's the best which can currently achieved with 3d printing. Currently the company producing the items is discussing a sanding possibility. But that's only an internal discussion so far. Wall size was a problem at the beginning but now it seems that smaller wall sizes can be achieved. Maybe I have to work over one of the items to see if that's possible. Andreas

    Bajonette

Which hat do you mean? In the beginning I calculated a bigger wall size as needed with the new material. For the French shako/ulan that may be a possibillity to improve the look ... Andreas

    Bajonette

If I decide for ebay I will do a "buy it know". I tested the auction possibility and I think that won't work. Andreas

    Bajonette

This ins't complete clear to me. The production office has now solved the sending task and my current favorite is selling it via ebay or direct, payable via paypal. There will be a minimal volume. For example for the bajonnette 50 pieces will make sense. Maybe I will take some interests directly during the next weeks via email. Checked items are currently: french shako, ulan, austrian grenadier, french dragoon, austrian dragoon, fez, Hussar. The next order from my side will verify the bearskin and the bajonnette. Andreas

Quicker then expected: http://www.shapeways.com/model/11998/custom_bajonette.html Needs to be ordered for a check but the first impression is that it can work as expected ... andreas

    Bajonette

I'm considering the possibility of a bajonette. Based on the pictures big French/British army in the pirates thread, I saw the Playmobil version. That's a possible first design idea ... A bigger picture can be found here: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/woody64/...o/bajonette.png Andreas
  24. No this army is not intended to be sold. The owner asked for some of my creations and provided me with the pictures of his army and gave me the allowance to publish it. But before seeing the pictures I couldn't believe the number of 1500 minifigs .... Here are some other previews: andreas
