  1. Seems pointless to me. Propeller in water makes sure the boat can fight wind, but at the same time adds extra drag. It's reducing that drag that is the whole point of airboat.
  2. So, I had this idea for a realistic airboat. But it kind of failed against realistic wind. Photos & reading: http://sariel.pl/2014/04/leviathan-airboat/
  3. The inverted shocks are an accident that I somehow missed, because I was so focused on propulsion :)
  4. I beat my personal LEGO speed record today: I don't think this is the maximum speed you can get with LEGO using legal solutions, but it's probably cutting it pretty close. Photos & reading: http://sariel.pl/2014/04/torpedo-trike/
  5. Diameter alone won't tell you which rim fits which tire, and as for possible rim/tire combinations, there's Bricklink and there's http://isodomos.com/VPH/Wheel
  6. Well, I thought I should put my wheels collection to some use: http://wheels.sariel.pl/ All measurements are taken by me, and I'm surprised to see they are sometimes very different from what Bricklink shows. Oh, and the images link to Bricklink catalog, to make things easy. Hope I don't get sued for that ;)
  7. It's because of the lacking differential that you can spin the truck, as shown in the video. Hamsters are affordable, this one still has to work for a threadwheel she broke ;)
  8. That's actually funny - the protection kicked in every now and then when indoors. Outdoors, where it was much colder, it never happened.
  9. So, I wanted to test a single RC motor with some very light, softly suspended vehicle. I've noticed the latest trend is to talk here about a MOC without actually showing anything, but let's do things the old way once more: Some photos and a bit of reading: http://sariel.pl/2014/04/mini-monster-truck/
  10. Not to offend anyone, but what's up with all the dust?
  11. It will improve the grip, though.
  12. Sorry to say, it's very inaccurate.
  13. Sort of. I, for one, don't see the point in using something the size (and weight) of a brick, when the Lego rechargeable battery suits me fine.
  14. The RC components will probably keep working until rust damages them. I don't think a boat made of panels would swim well. It would probably turn out heavier than the ready-made hulls. No, I think I'll try an airboat next.
  15. So, I wanted to start the season by testing that unique old Technic propeller, and my boat ended up capsizing: Pics, and some info about the pieces I've used: http://sariel.pl/2014/03/catamaran/
  16. Thank you for your kind words. The photos and a little description are here: http://sariel.pl/2014/03/monorail-mk7-cargo-terminal/ The Control Center worked flawlessly, and I'm greatly impressed with it. I'm already thinking of some other ways to put it into use.
  17. Any apple or Android phone can serve as a screen and remote at the same time, at least with GoPro 2 & 3. And at least GoPro 3 SE allows to use narrow field of view, too.
  18. I had to build this thing, because how else could I show you a hamster rescuing a Lego zombie from drowning? A few photos are coming soon...
  19. I put a lot of work and hardware into my videos, but I still stick to 720p rather than 1080p. 1080 = huge files and much longer rendering times when editing. On my PC it takes some 6 times longer to process a 1080p video than to process 720p one.
  20. Huib has contacted me, thank you very much for your assistance.
  21. Thanks, I've somehow missed Madoca being here at EB, but he seems to log in rarely. Zblj - I would be grateful, thanks.
