  1. It's 2 way, there are sound and proximity sensors in WeDo, they couldn't work with 1 way communication.
  2. Here's my little video review of the final SBrick:
  3. I'm glad my book helps you to find good models, but... I don't know specific details behind Makorol's pulleys, but one thing I'm sure of is that he drilled nothing. The guy is a purist. Also, you got the wrong video. The right one is below, it actually shows how these pulleys work.
  4. Well, I can confirm it helps when separating. You can't use the brick separator when plugs are connected to the IR receiver because of the receiver's wall, after all.
  5. Maybe I'm the last one to notice it, but look at the small ledge just above the right plug's wire. To the left is the original PF plug, the way it's been since 2007. This obviously helps to disconnect the plug without pulling at the wire. The interesting thing is, I found it on all my PF Servo motors and all PF V2 receivers, but not on the PF L motors which suggests that they've been produced quite a while ago. Anybody seen it somewhere else?
  6. I did my share of experiments with WeDo, like the one below, but in the end I was discouraged by the poor performance of motors running at 5V off the WeDo USB hubs. It kind of felt like poor man's NXT.
  7. I'm watching it with interest, especially since I'm too ill at the moment to build something myself :)
  8. Well, maybe if I quit my job and did almost nothing else. And even then we would run out of ideas at some point. But on a more optimistic note, this isn't the last book you'll be seeing :)
  9. Add to Blakbird's long list of skills: reading my mind ;)
  10. Pics & reading: http://sariel.pl/2014/12/crawler/ Tires: http://store.rc4wd.com/Mickey-Thompson-19-Baja-Claw-TTC-Scale-Tires-pair-_p_1260.html Now I'm just waiting for my chair area to thaw out ;)
  11. That's very creative! And I actually like your version of the bike better :)
  12. Yes sir, you are. I took it apart already, sorry. I don't recall any errors in the instruction. It's quite possible I did some mistake while building and simply fixed it on the go.
  13. Not that anyone was holding their breath waiting for this one ;) but here's the 42041 B-model:
  14. The new ring works with all old pieces. It's the old ring that doesn't work with some new ones - with the red clutch gear, to be specific.
  15. Thanks. We didn't think about it. The models are property of Blakbird and they're his to release or not. For what it's worth, there are links in the Credits section, including links for building instructions for 33 of these models.
  16. That's a very conscious choice. With limited pagecount (a factor that you perhaps haven't considered), it was better to pick a few models that deserved a spotlight in form of a few extra pages than to give every model in the book the same amount of space, like 2.1 pages.
  17. On the contrary, a rather old one: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30602
  18. Thanks. There is one edition of the book only. The imperial units are used as primary, with metric ones used as secondary in brackets. If the metric ones are missing somewhere, it means we let something slip. This was a decision by the publisher, to make the book more suitable for the US market.
  19. We had this idea with the publisher, we tested it, we didn't like it. QR codes aren't exactly so small nor pretty, and then they would be actually used by like 5% of readers. Which is why we made this - and you can find this link in the credits section, too: http://www.nostarch.com/techniclinks
  20. Musssssst use these piecesssssssssssssss...
  21. They're available in Full HD quality in the videos. Absolutely. I have no room to display sets and no interest in wasting interesting pieces just to stand around catching dust. I know it's fun to many people, but I will cannibalize any Technic set near me the first chance I get.
  22. Well, seeing as I'm not a collector but an avid user of pieces: the Arctic Truck, definitely. By the way, here's how all the new sets compare in size:
