  1. Matthias hears the assassin and grins. It's a new feeling for the young ranger; he's been gung-ho before but that naivete was beaten out by harpies, rioters, and paladins. This time, he finds he feels the somehow enjoyably grim determination of battle. "I vote for wailing," he says in his tiny deep voice.
  2. Why use a level 52 to play fetch when there are a lot of lower level heroes around doing nothing? Matthias can easily grab a consumable from someone on the East side and take it to Tesni. If you want him to, just give me an action - I may not be able to post again before the next round. Matthias chances to see Tesni go down and wishes he could assist. Why doesn't he have healing among his skills? Why can't he call upon the ether, the trees and stones and metals of the deep, and provide protection? He makes the decision in this instant to seek training in healing magic, to learn saving power for his comrades. Matthias, full of vigor as he is after the cosmic essence, is more than a little apprehensive about getting steamrolled a second time in one battle. "Is there no better way? That hurt the first time!" As Purpearl's outburst continues, Matthias is relieved to hear he doesn't have to endure the pain of another paladin's blow. He casts about for something useful to do, and remembers Tesni lying on the far border. "Can anyone give me an essence that I can take to Tesni?" Suggested Battle Order Benji drinks a Mulled Wine Haldor moves to heal Benji Dyric vs. Cassandra Benji consumes a health core, or gives Matthias an essence Purpearl heals Benji if possible - every little bit helps Thormanil Dreyrugr Guts attacks Cassandra thrice, dual hits hitting Cassandra Jess uses phoenix essence on Alexis Alexis vs Raguel/Cassandra Matthias accepts an essence from Benji (or someone else) and moves to the West Border
  3. Matthias looks around the battlefield, noting the fallen prince and circus performers, the bodies of knights in armor... he stays his crossbow once again, waiting for the combat between Guts, Benji, and the two remaining enemies to end.
  4. Whoops, could have sworn I put in an action last round.... Matthias, invigorated suddenly by the cosmic essence, jumps up so hard he loses his balance and is momentarily confused. Is it better to have Matthias attack Cassandra and possibly need another essence, or have him do nothing? Slightly unnerved by the Daughter of Light's fearsome appearance after his near-death experience, the ranger aims his crossbow at Cassandra and decides to wait for orders.
  5. If Matthias is raised, he'll attack Prince David. Same for Glup.
  6. Does that math look wrong to anyone else? 400-9=391, unless I'm just too tired....
  7. Matthias, Glup, Dyric, and Nelvin lie scattered at the eastern end of the bridge; Cinna, Baradock, and Nerwen likewise at the western edge. Groans and gasps occasionally escape from their lips. If Matthias is rezzed he will attack Prince David. If Glup is rezzed, she will make more rude gestures and also attack Prince David. Heh, I'm not opposed to getting rezzed eventually but I've got no call on that particular essence. If the party needs someone else up more, use it on them; Matthias can barely affect the battle since Prince David is the only target left that can't immediately knock him out again and that's just wasteful.
  8. Glup pokes her head out from under a discarded cloak near Cassandra's fallen horse. She looks left and right, then hops up excitedly. "Hey, you missed me!" The daredevil grumpkin, surging with adrenaline, makes a semi-rude gesture in Raguel's direction and then attacks Son B again. Matthias simply lies limp on the field.
  9. Just want to point out that the reliance on consumables is a big deal not just for non-rogues vs. rogue classes, but new players vs. established ones. If enemies are already overpowered vs. a character because that character is lower level than the rest of their party, and then the QM rebalances for consumable use by all the experienced characters, that just sucks for the newbie because they don't have any consumables to consume. I like both the idea of making consumables only usable during battles (so that they require 1 turn per consumable used) and making the multipliers less than double (50% increase in damage, or even only 20%; hastened gives you a free action every other turn, etc). Adverb. In any case, I hope everyone doesn't think that I talk or complain too much for a newbie. I've really enjoyed Heroica for the past few months (has it really been so long?!) and I know lots of people work hard to make it fun. I applaud you.
  10. Glup looks around, finds Son B, and swallows nervously. Then she summons her daredevil courage, grips her rapier tightly, and attacks Son B.
  11. Glup overhears some of the heroes making strategy and yells out, "Hey, who's my target?"
  12. I actually feel like that makes sense... if the scroll didn't work, that means it probably didn't arc to all the enemies, so why should it cost that much? If you fizzle, not all of your fuel is consumed. Agreed.
  13. Matthias' tiny body doesn't even make much of a lump as he lies unconscious.... Glup just keeps attacking Prince David. See new post.
  14. Matthias, scanning the battlefield, notes again how overmatched his party - his friends? - have become, and decides to try and at least distract some of the heavily-armored enemies. He attacks Raguel David and prepares to attack Son D if no one else does, his tiny gnomish heart pounding in his ears.
  15. If Purpearl takes David, Matthias can attack both Raguel and Son D, and prevent at least one of their free hits. As a side note, he will die, unless he manages to not roll Damage or Special Damage on either one. Matthias, scanning the battlefield, notes again how overmatched his party - his friends? - have become, and decides to try and at least distract some of the heavily-armored enemies. 16. Heh, if we start a SPRING FLING event this late it will have to be GROGMAS IN JULY!!!
  17. I will not be bribed! Heh, the essence is only necessary if he actually falls - Matthias' loyalty is to the party; he's been KO'd twice already in this quest and won't hesitate to jump in again if needed. However, someone's going to have to (in-character) let Matthias know which enemy's sword he's supposed to fall on, because it's hopeless for me to try and figure it out. As a roleplaying lead-in, it would be nice to know who he's directly saving as well.
  18. I think I'm confusted again - why would that matter? It only matters if the damage is dealt to Tarokin Dyrok C and he will return it, right? Say he takes 100 damage from an attack, regardless of how that 100 number is arrived at, he returns 100 direct damage to the heroes, right? Or do I not understand how "returns damage" works?
  19. Welcome to Eurobricks! Heh, as an American expat who has lived abroad in both Europe and Asia, I hate it when non-native English speakers say that. Inevitably they speak better English than I do! Your English looks as good as any I've seen on Eurobricks and is a credit to you.
  20. Welcome to Eurobricks! That movie has probably done more good for LEGO than they realize by bringing AFOLs out of the woodwork.
  21. Welcome to Eurobricks! Do you mean these? BrickLink is the place to go any time you're looking for something specific.
  22. I can see this becoming a stacking or tiered option: *Hastened* = 1 extra action *Hastened +2* = 2 extra actions *Hastened +3* = 3 extra actions Now I'm not saying this is a good idea, I'm just taking the idea to a logical conclusion so that it's out there.
  23. You should be able to do anything but attack from the back row.
  24. Matthias hears Guts' shout and figures movement shouldn't affect him, so he nocks another bolt on his crossbow and attacks Prince David twice. I suppose that means that Glup should also have one fewer bombs? Glup will attack Prince David if the party doesn't retreat to the Front; otherwise she follows the party.
