Nice.

Matthias' satisfaction is evident as each of his four tiny bullets hit their targets, but he can feel the sense of doom emanating from Calmcacil, Midge, Ruffers, and Pigley. The gnome hefts his weapon and continues his attack, calling out, "Lady Alexis, would you remedy Lady Nerwen? I think the two of you will need to remedy Midge and our animal friends next." Suggested Battle Order > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp > Midge: Fire Spell vs. Avery Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Crowley Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Morrison Bert: Halberd vs. Crowley Samuel: Heal vs. lowest health (%) party member Alexis: Remedy vs. Nerwen Nerwen: Remedy vs. Midge Next round we can have Ruffers & Pigley attack Avery, then have someone (Alexis) remedy them at the end of the round... so we're not using too many remedies.
-
So does this mean that Atramor only survives one round if Doomed?
-
Matthias looks ruefully at Nerwen. "We can remedy later in turns - right now we need to take advantage of the angels to press the attack!"
-
As two angels finally appear, Matthias continues to revel. "Everyone attack the Assassin!" the ranger yells as he fires twice at Thistlethorp. Suggested Battle Order > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp Alexis: Fan vs. Avery Nerwen: Sword vs. Avery Midge: Fire spell vs. Avery Samuel: Sword vs. Avery Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Avery Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Avery Bert: Halberd vs. Avery If by some miracle Avery dies before everyone has attacked, whoever's left should attack Crowley; if he dies too, then Morrison.

Since the two highest level characters in the game are female (Namyrra is 45.8 and Alexis is 45.6), I don't think there's any argument about butt-kicking gals. I say that about half of Flipz' posts hahaha.
-
Matthias laughs a deep laugh, filled with what Charissians would have called Joie de Guerre if there were any around to see, and for lack of any other options lets out another blood-curdling undulation, continuing his attack. > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp Looks like I'll still be able to post regularly, if not as often as I'd like.
-
Matthias attacks Thistlethorp twice, a primal gnome-scream rending the ears of his allies and enemies alike. How did Nerwen die? Avery's special doesn't even deal damage, just Doomed.
-
Matthias uses his remedy on Midge and then attacks Thistlethorp.
-
"Yes," Matthias agrees.

And you keep forgetting Matthias' power bonus as well. Anyway, I know what you mean about the end of summer. I'm actually leaving tomorrow for a three-week trip through an area where the infrastructure is basically nonexistent so I have no idea what kind of access I'll have. I will do my best to keep up on mobile where it's available and I should be able to get a post in at least every couple of days, but if at any point I can't get something in under the 24-hour limit, Matthias will take suggestions from Chromeknight or Masked. Matthias begins to wonder if they can win this fight. He pulls a Remedy from his pouch for Midge, but decides to hold off and instead fires twice at Thistlethorp. "Anyone with elemental weapons, attack the undead - that includes you, Midge: how about a spell?" "Blind as many as you can...." Suggested Battle Order > Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Crowley > Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Morrison Nerwen: Sword vs. Avery Samuel: Heal vs. Alexis Alexis: Fan vs. Crowley > Midge: Light spell vs. Avery > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp Bert: Halberd vs. Thistlethorp

Hahaha it's Nerwen who's racist, not Matthias - he was doing that because she was wearing Sylvania's Cowl. I've definitely been enjoying Miderun/Polly in the Hall, and I know I'm late to the party, but Polly's avatar (with Mr. Saunders) is awesome. Rats! I knew there was stuff going on there, but I couldn't figure out a way to do anything about it. Fixed that for you - and that's so weird, me too!! J/K, I think if I ever get to character number two, I'll want to do something different than Matthias, so probably Barbarian/Knight. P.S. - Where did you find a "halbred"?

As Vaugh Thistlethorp turns to attack and the bodies around them rise to join him, Matthias is barely surprised; what else would he have expected from a Necromancer? His most present feeling isn't betrayal, either; he's still too tired to feel that. What the ranger does feel is frustration that the party will need to fight the wily assassin again, and that he'll need to look into the faces of Watchmen he once fought alongside as he kills them a second time. Doing his best to pull together for one more fight, he calls out, "Samuel, that fiery blade should cut well against the corpses, although Private Bert is still hurt", and "Master Russel, try to blind them - the Necromancer and Crowley - but stay well back."Once again pulling on his borrowed Quickdraw Quiver and carelessly knocking his Dapper Hat back into the dirt, Matthias puts his back against the wall and lights off the Peashooter at Thistlethorp. Below battle order is based on my (quite possibly flawed) understanding that only elemental weapons damage undead, and the assumption that Zepher meant to make Avery and Morrison "Undead" like Crowley instead of "Humanoid" and "City Watchman". Suggested Battle Order > Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Thistlethorp > Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Undead Crowley > Matthias: Change Dapper Hat for Quickdraw Quiver > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Thistlethorp Samuel: Heal vs. Bert Bert: If healed, Halberd vs. Thistlethorp, otherwise Use Grand Potion Midge: Axe vs. Thistlethorp Alexis: Fan vs. Undead Assassin > Nerwen: Sword vs. Undead Morrison

The gnome nods, eyes still fixed on Thistlethorp, but replies, "I don't think that's necessary unless he resists. I must admit that I'm not certain why these allegations are so grave. Experimentation is the father of invention, and if I'm not mistaken there are Necromancers among the Heroes of the Hall... I suppose grave robbing is a crime, though." Matthias glances at Crowley and Morrison, dead and still warm on the floor, and shudders as his eyes also take in the assassin's bloodsoaked corpse. "I think we should return their bodies to the Watch house, Bert. Would you wrap them up so we can carry them, or do you have something else in mind?" Absentmindedly, the gnome pulls off the Quickdraw Quiver and brushes off his Dapper Hat before placing it back on his head, perhaps subconsciously trying to look taller and more authoritative to the accused Watchman.
-
Concur. Boo! "You see, it would not be wise to cross my friends and I at this point," Matthias says to Thistlethorp, "so will you come quietly?" Using animal language to communicate with Calmcacil outside Thistlethorp's understanding, Matthias adds, "We don't have time to investigate this now - we should turn him over to the Watch. If they discover a plot, we can deal with it once our current task is complete."
-
Matthias' satisfaction at finishing a foe is tinged with nausea as Avery's nose and eyes pour forth her life force; both feelings fade into a sense of betrayal as she utters her last words. As his adrenaline fades, weariness floods his body and dulls all other feelings. "Peace, Lady Alexis." The gnome makes a calming gesture towards Fenral with one hand, and addresses Bert. "Bert, you are injured, and in any case you will need to make a full report I'm sure, so we should go to the Watch house immediately. Perhaps Lady Nerwen or Master Samuel can heal you as we go." Turning sadly towards the Watchman he hoped would be his friend, Matthias doesn't know what to think. He does know what needs to be done, however. "Thistlethorp, I think you will understand if we ask you to surrender your weapons and come with us the the Watch house. We will turn you and your belongings over to Serevan and he can conduct an inquiry into your associations." As the ranger holds his hands out to accept Thistlethorp's staff and helmet, he glances at his party members. "We have no more time to waste here. We must secure Lady Purpearl's release and continue our search for Master Bart as soon as possible. And I really need to get some sleep as well."
-
Well, we should be putting an end to that problem here soon I also prefer the white background/transparent PNG, and I concur with The_Customizer that increasing contrast would help. If you are using GIMP/Photoshop, you might also try upping the color saturation of the not-white bits.

Matthias glares as the Assassin stabs Fenral in the back. As the angel appears, determination sets in on his face. "Finish her." The ranger speaks to the party's animal companions. "I think now might be a good time to use that Phoenix Essence - I'm sure Lady Nerwen won't mind." He then opens fire again. Suggested Battle Order Russel & Pigley: Phoenix Essence vs. Alexis Nerwen: Sword vs. Avery Alexis: Fan vs. Avery Midge: Axe vs. Avery Samuel: Sword vs. Avery Matthias: Peashooter vs. Avery Matthias: Peashooter vs. Avery Bert: Halberd vs. Avery Thistlethorp: Heal vs. Bert Russel & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Avery

We wait with bated breath.
-
Yes, but he only counts as ½ an NPC and Sir Pigley more than makes up for his agreeableness.
-
Zepher, do you ever play any NPCs who aren't contrary by nature and built to make every Hero question all they hold dear?
-
The ranger happily obliges, uncorking a Mead for Calmcacil to drink. Finding another Mead in his pack, Matthias decides it could be worse spent and opens it for Fenral. Suggested Battle Order Matthias: Mead vs. Nerwen Matthias: Mead vs. Alexis > Nerwen: Sword vs. Avery > Alexis: Fan vs. Avery Samuel: Heal vs. Bert Thistlethorp: If Bert is less than full health, Heal vs. Bert, otherwise Heal vs. Most Hurt Party Member > Bert: If Bert is healed to full health, Halberd vs. Avery, otherwise Nothing Midge: Nothing > Russel & Pigley: If Bert attacks, Nothing, otherwise, Crabspirator vs. Avery Russel & Pigley: Nothing

The gnome doesn't answer. Also, this should have been Round Three, meaning the next round Avery will ignore SP?
-
Wow, that's not even the post I was quoting.... nice catch! Should be fixed now.

Matthias can't help responding to the Assassin's ridiculous speech. "If you protect only the sinless, who will you ever protect? Who is sinless?" As Calmcacil's angel fades, the ranger motions his companions backwards. "Everyone stay back - don't wade in unprotected." Looking at the Assassin, the gnome raises his weapon to the ready but does not fire. "You have made your choices, then. While we would rather know the who and the why behind them, we salute your honor. Now die." Blast, I could have sworn Guardian Angels lasted more than one round... oh well. Also, Midge still isn't wearing his armor and helmet, and is still missing the resultant SP.
