At the sight of Calmcacil moving forward, Matthias readies his cannon, aiming for one of the Chaos Beasts.

"I think if Chaos-For-Brains doesn't have a really good answer, really soon, we should just end this and move on..." Matthias murmurs to the party.

Matthias merely bows in deference to the party leader's wishes.

Matthias, taken aback at Berthadhiell's conciliatory tone, says to Ruffers, "What do you think Lady Purpearl is up to? It's not like her to... talk instead of fighting." In a low tone he adds, "If this is where that beast came from, we should put an end to it and move on. I have no desire to 'ally' with such foul things."

Matthias stands back, allowing the elvish ladies to take the lead. "This place isn't safe, but we're dangerous, right?" he remarks to Malty.

Matthias packs up the Quickdraw Quiver and re-seats the Dapper Hat on his pate, only to doff it again in a small bow to Calmcacil. "Lady Nerwen, it is as always an honor to battle beside ladies of might and magic like yourself - and Ladies Purpearl and Alexis," the gnome says with a grin, "even if it means I must occasionally stand by." I'm on mobile, so no quotes... I was beginning to think that the bleeding/immune thing was Narrative Causality, especially when no one would answer my questions. As Matthias is about to reply to the animals, he hears Berthadhiell say something about a detour. "Were this the King's Road," he says to the animals, "we might not need to protect the roads. But there is no king in Uland... in any case, it looks as though Lady Purpearl intends to clear this evil." Turning to Berthadhiell, the ranger says quietly, "I agree; whatever evil made that thing should be removed. But remember, we are still on a timeline."

As soon as the angel begins to shimmer into visibility, Matthias raises his cannon and attacks twice. Howdy Flipz! > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Beast > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Beast P.S. - Will someone explain why Bleeding works against an enemy immune to all negative effects? I am confused.

Again, how can the Chaos Beast be bleeding if it is immune to negative effects? What did I miss? Matthias watches Calmcacil continue to dismantle the beast and remarks to Malty, "I told you, they're the dangerous ones." > Matthias: Nada > Matthias: Zip/Zilch

I am dying with the suspense in #100 right now.....

"I agree, Lady Nerwen - better to have the best chance for your angel to appear," Matthias says, though it's obvious he's not actually feeling patient. I concur with the autoroll option.

I'm so confused. Matthias begins to hop anxiously, antsy to get into the fight, but continues to do nothing. He bows half-jokingly in Fenral's direction. "Yes, excellent hearing, and excellent in so many other ways as well," he adds with a wink.

Matthias rolls his eyes as the elves poke at one another... "Master Malty, those are the dangerous ones," he mutters, not intending to actually be heard.

For a moment Matthias considers attacking anyway, but decides to follow Lady Nerwen's plan, at least for the moment. The gnome grins at Purpearl, pulls on the Quickdraw Quiver (knocking off his Dapper Hat), and attacks the beast. Glad your computer is back, Zeph - the quest is on! Hmmmmm... I get it, but now I see that I have read Grimmau's Clothespin wrong since I got it hahaha. Matthias joins Malty in the chuckle, but adds under his breath, "I am quite dangerous... and so are you, isn't that right Master Ruffers?" With that, he continues down the road.

I assume the cape works the same as Grimmau's Clothespin in Matthias' inventory? Also, I think Purpearl's stats were missed - she did rest in a bedroll. Matthias wakes up, quite refreshed and somewhat astonished that the party made it through an entire night without any 'goings-on'. He packs his things, happily shoulders his Peashooter, and jaunts along in the sunshine as they make their way to Ve'er. When Malty the Minstrel approaches, the gnome feels almost chipper. He plasters a dark grin on his face and says to the newcomer, "What makes you think our 'numbers' are 'safe', Master Malty?"

Matthias hesitates for only a moment, distrustful of the Reaper and uneasy in the clearing, but his weariness and pain overcomes all other thoughts and he fumbles his bedroll out onto the ground. "I hope this is as safe from her as she says it is from everyone else..." he remarks to the two animals as he settles in to rest. His last thoughts as he drifts immediately into deep slumber are, We shouldn't have let the Reaper off so easy....

As the information the party needs comes forth, Matthias feels his rage and his energy deflate. Doing his best to ignore the shiver going down his spine as the Reaper glares in his direction, he slowly turns around, nursing his crushed innards, and begins to walk away from the whole scene in a direction he hopes will take him back to town, and an inn, and a bed. "We require nothing more," he says, as coldly as he can muster, "and we will be going."

Where is everyone? Zeph's computer dies and we go 27 hours with no posts in the general discussion....

"To know what would have happened, child?" said Aslan. "No. Nobody is ever told that."

Matthias opens his mouth, the continued rage of a small, tired, frustrated man apparent on his face, but Nerwen speaks first. Good thing too, he thinks, I was going to tell her we would kill her no matter what.

Matthias hears that the party will have to travel again, and he loses it, consumed with travel-weary rage; blindly firing in the midst of the battle he gets a little too close and is flung heavily against a tree and can feel something break inside his tiny abdomen. As Calmcacil's angel descends, he summons the rage again and attacks Hel's Guard, hoping to kill it outright. The gnome yells to his crab friend, "Forward! Kill her!" Suggested Battle Order > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Hel > Matthias: Peashooter vs. Hel Ruffers & Pigley: Crabspirator vs. Reaper Ruffers & Pigley: If Reaper is dead or will die from burning, Rebel Sword vs. Zoot; otherwise, Crabspirator vs. Reaper Purpearl: Spell (Magical Staff) vs. Hel (if alive and not going to die from burning), then Reaper (if alive and not going to die from burning), then Zoot Nerwen: Light Sword vs. Zoot Alexis: Suitable weapon vs. whichever foe is still standing and not burning to death 'XX': Dagger to finish off whichever foe is still standing and not burning to death
