I actually bought the Rock hand specifically to be able to trump an Icy 8 and walk out with an Opal, but no luck. Oh well hahahaha.

Matthias laughs at the man's guess as Holla walks in and after the alchemist passes, Matthias doffs his hat to give Bruhalv a better look. "I'm 27 inches; 41 pounds of cider and firepower." He laughs, and dusts the brim of his topper with a sleeve, settling it carefully back on his head to give the impression of as much height as possible. "So, Master Boris, are you the same man you were before the bite? Are you still in control?"

"Of course I do," Math says, wondering if he likes the sound of 'Matti' as he waves the Peashooter. Grinning, the gnome indicates the Extraordinaire, knowing that it was the gun to which Bruhalv was actually referring. "This one too," he says with a laugh. With a more somber look on his face, Matthias questions the vampire. "How does one get to be a 'ex-cleric' of Ennoc? Did you find a new god?"

Matthias looks up at the sound of glass breaking and is glad to find something happening in the hall other than gross romantic ickiness. When the man with the mace orders a cider and marmalade, the gnome is intrigued. He moves over to the strange figure. "I'll have a cider too," he says to Scheherazade before facing the newcomer and extending his hand. "I'm Matthias. Well met, Master ???"

Matthias makes his way to reception after his match and immediately cashes out all four of his cards, gaining 1 Potion, 1 Grand Potion, 1 Remedy, and 1 Elixir. With no cards remaining, he wanders around the room a bit but finds himself fading slowly away... and comes to his senses back at the Hall.

Matthias watches with amusement as Holla and Calmcacil bandy words, but feels alarmed and a little nauseous when he wonders whether they might... well... whether it might become more than banter. As the minstrel leans close, Matthias blushes and turns back to his drink, which is empty again. "Oh, bother," he says to no one in particular.

Matthias winces and plays his Dune Ghoul (Rock 3), then leads with Shedu (Rock 5).

Excellent choice of subject matter, and excellent execution. :thumbup:

Matthias plays Mud Frog (Rock 2) and collects the Carrion Squirrel (Dark 1). He starts to lead with a high card, but fear gets to the tiny gnome so he plays Scarab (Rock 1) to start the second round.

1. Passed the last Mafia school, though I lost the last night (picked the wrong Townie to stab in the night). 2. I'm pretty new still; I could have won the School if I had gone with my gut instead of flipping a coin, but I got a lot of feedback saying that in a more advanced game I would have been outed pretty early based on my play. 3. I read (most of) Red Menace Mafia while I was playing the School, but it didn't seem to help - I didn't really understand what was going on without more context. 4. I'll be able to post every game day (and at least every 24 hours), but I'm in a new job that is much more involved and time consuming so my posts won't be nearly as often as the Mafia School game I played. 5. The "Dino" line (including Dino Attack and Dino 2010) - how can you not love these great helicopters?

Matthias approaches Fenral immediately. "I will trade you any of my Rock cards for that Moon Elemental, Lady Alexis."

Matthias is as surprised as anyone to find himself down 25 gold and holding a Rock Elemental Hand.

Well, rats. Looking forward to the revamped tournament!

Matthias signs up for Quest #121, grabs a cider, and heads back to his seat.

Matthias bought 100. Exactly. If this happens, those characters who bought large numbers of cards as an investment will need to get their money back.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This is, more or less, what I am shooting for with Matthias - a kid who has dreams but needs a friend (or ten). Thanks for your encouragement!

The gnome nods quickly and turns back to his seat, his face red as a beet.

Matthias' head jerks up as the staff clatters across the room. He hops down from his chair, picks up the staff, and presents it back to the minstrel. "Lady Nerwen, allow me to say how lovely you look," he says, momentarily forgetting his inner dread of the unpredictable, violent elves.

I enjoyed this thoroughly. Two in a row... on a roll!

Turning the Hunter's Plate over in his hands, Matthias vaguely overhears Guts handing out gold like candy and wishes he was a rich man. "Yubby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dum," he humms quietly.

Matthias accepts the upgraded Extraordinaire from Pretzel, bowing his head to the artisan. "Thanks," he says simply, not wanting to delay Pretzel too near the vampire because of the obvious dislike between them.

Matthias takes a sip of his ale, straightening his shoulders as the vampire remarks on his more experienced appearance. "Yes, the Fireball is extraordinary, though I haven't used it recently - Doctor Tesla of the Tritech Corporation was restoring it for me and I just got it back," he says as he counts out 50 gold onto the table. "When do you think you'll be wanting this armor back?" he asks, taking another sip of ale.
