Matthias, frustrated as he watches each of the party members miss or take damage from the sheep, is as surprised as anyone else when a plea he whispers to Orrik under his breath turns to veins of living ore rumbling out and infusing each party member with health and sight. Best thing about a fantasy world - if Matthias ever meets a [insert historical enemy of the gnomes, not sure there is one], they'll have a battle royale! Heck, Purpearl pretty much attacked everyone in #102 just because that's her character! VAMPIRE APOCALYPSE. Hmmmmm, so are Vampires really even a race then? Rabbit hole opened successfully. Way to ruin it with your gender-biased plural group noun. Pig. I don't even want to think about minifigures explaining Lind's earlier post about Athens and Sparta. I feel suitably chastised - this is actually one of my personal failings with Matthias. I built a starting character that was too close to my own personality, and I am struggling to build more into him now. A lot of my frustration with #102 was not that Matthias was put into unwinnable situations, but that I felt like I was as well. Concur.

Matthias' mood is lightened a little as another Hero unsuccessfully tries to switch targets... he shrugs off the Battering Ram's hit and repeats.

Matthias grins in the joy of battle as his rounds find their mark. The Extraordinaire is firin' fine, [/i]he thinks to himself with pride. With a tiny chuckle he points his weapon at Battering Ram A and prepares to fire. Matthias gives the battle mage an odd look. "Of course it is...." What else could an item of equipment that's not his weapon be? And yeah, no problem, Lind; I just think it's better to keep the healing in battle so that RoL can happen. In any case, a single level 15 direwolf can only scratch our Mystic Knight, and only if she's in the front row.

Matthias' neck reddens and feels the embarrassment creeping up behind his beard. I'm a druid now, right? he thinks, and tries to think of how Lady Nerwen or other heroes healed him in the past, but nothing real comes to mind. They always just waved their hands or mumbled or something, he remembers, but it isn't helpful. Instead he merely pretends not to have heard Whisperer's request - the latter having ducked conveniently out of sight for a second - and tries to move the party along. "Yes, let's go get some sheep," Matthias says, hoping to hide his awkward dilemma behind a bored, aloof front. For now I think it's better to conserve Matthias' ether and hope for Roots of Life during a battle; I'm using the opportunity to RP Matthias' discomfort and lack of knowledge/training/experience in this role as well. Matthias is a high-power, low-endurance (ether) cleric at the moment. Don't worry, though; I'll not hesitate to use Matthias' items in battle if necessary and he will certainly heal where needed. Just think it's more efficient this way since RoL is a full-party heal.

Matthias can't understand what's wrong with the Extraordinaire - the blasted thing just won't fire. He hadn't used it since the Tritech researcher had worked on it... and as soon as he thinks of her name, Nicole, the gnome's mind clears up. "Of course, she replaced the safety mechanism," he mumbles, clicking the tiny lever off and then quickly back on again. "I don't care where we go next," he remarks, trying to sound casual and not like he'd just made the most rookie move imaginable. "Let's just get on with it." That was in-character, and meant to be. Both you and I as players know what's going on... but our characters have to figure it out. Replying out-of-character to in-character dialogue doesn't help.

Flipz, I wonder if your "dice" are sort of flat, with only two sides... maybe you're flipping a coin? There are supposed to be six possible outcomes there, not two! Such language! Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say klyzark and shume'a at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land, nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress in this period in history.

Matthias sizes up the opponents from the back and aims his big cannon at the Zombie Peasant, a glare on his face but happy to be doing something. > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Zombie Peasant As a note I should go last in the battle order to gain the most benefit from Roots of Life. And as another note, Actaeon's Defense isn't listed; I believe it should be 2.
