  1. Watching Guts depart for the shop, Matthias toys with the idea of following, but with snakes on his mind the gnome decides to stay put in the comforting confines of the tavern. Besides, he reckons to himself as justification, what if Doc Dan takes a turn for the worst? I should be here. As it seems he has no other business, he addresses Sir Barkley, who's hardly spoken a word since the arrival in Haddon. "Sir Barkley, do you have expereince with the Shivering Square?"
  2. "What sort of experiments?" Matthias asks, beginning to wonder what the others are speaking about, only having caught Rone's recent remark that the group would depart tomorrow. "And I think perhaps we might put off clearing the city of this evil until we are done in Duplovia, if my ears do not decieve me," he adds, clearly torn: happy not to deal with the forked-tongue flicking creepy crawlies, and yet still after adventure and accomplishment and defeating every evil everywhere.
  3. Matthias' heart sinks as Hissvetia is mentioned - he had hoped his last encounter with such a snake would be his last. "Oh... is Hissvetia really just all bad?" he asks with a slight shiver.
  4. Sorry, just went from "not much to say in the quest" to two straight 16-hour days at work. That may happen to me from time to time over the next two weeks, but I should be good after that. Matthias listens intently to the information about Sir Poletad, and is barely disturbed when a letter winks into existence in front of him... taking care of the letter, he questions the frog. "Minimizing dust? Make myself smaller? As if I'm not short enough?" A wry smile on his face, the gnome realizes his sense of adventure is on fire once again. Wondering what beacome of Sir Poletad, he looks around the room towards the others and remembers something about a magic shop. "High Priest Pylon, what is the Shivering Square, and how long would it take? Could we go and rout them out while Doctor Daneeka rests here?"
  5. The Z-Mail doesn't even interrupt Matthias' focus on the story of Sir Poletad; he signs up and speeds the reply on its way.
  6. The secret is that Win10 is an Endgame Boss.
  7. Matthias takes one look at the bartender and groans. Staying near the animals, he tries not to stare while wondering how Crypants McBartender can be so far from home. Addressing the frog, he says, "What do you know about this town?"
  8. Matthias follows Pylon to the tavern straight away.
  9. The "ironic commentator inside the story who talks about the action as it takes place"?
  10. Pylon's voice snaps Matthias back to reality, and the gnome wonders why he didn't feel Daneeka's wounds as he reached out from the deck. Jumping upright, he is instantly at the Doctor's side, joining his meager magic to that of the tiny high priest. "Captain, the High Priest knows where to take him," the gnome calls out without looking away.
  11. Makes me wonder what I'm doing here! Just wanted to say that I really enjoy your avatar matching your character.
  12. Matthias doesn't even get up off the deck, preferring to forge life back into his destroyed body through the ether and reaching out in the magic to find Dyric, Guts, and Lane, and nurture them as well Once he can find no further wounds, the gnome continues to lie on the deck for several minutes. "What now, Captain Lane?" his tiny voice finally booms out from the floor.
  13. Matthias heals Dyric, then attacks the First Mate, if that enemy is still alive.
  14. Matthias gives Guts a funny look, but spins ether up to nurture the Marauder anyway.
  15. <p>The scales removed from Matthias' eyes, he nods assent to Rone and attacks the Third Mate twice from the back row. "High Priest Pylon, please continue to heal Master Guts," grinning at Sir Barkley, who's still biting the First Mate. > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Third Mate > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Third Mate Barkley: Bite First Mate Pylon: Heal Guts
  16. "But he is a man, and I am a gnome, and you are a dog, Sir Barkley" Matthias says, distractedly throwing a bone at the Captain. "I will make better introductions later. For now, let's just take care of these pirates - need you to bite that werewolf again." The gnome rubs his smarting eyes and wills the ether into them, attempting to nurture his sight back. "High Priest Pylon, I can't see the others well - please keep healing anyone who's hurt!" Matthias: Bone vs. Captain Matthias: Nurture vs. Self Barkley: Bite First Mate Pylon: Heal first damaged party member (in battle order)
  17. "Barkley, change of plans, attack the Were-Wolf," Matthias cries.
  18. 2 questions - Why did Barkley attack an already KO'd enemy (I know I forgot to give him a target, my bad), and are Barkley and Pylon Hastened? If so, why didn't they each act twice? Another question: if Matthias throws his Doomsday bomb, the Mob gets completely killed right (99 damage to each member)? Matthias - not as practiced as Holla - awkwardly swears the few obscenities he can think of as the marauder and the assassin go overboard and the captain takes a huge hit. Grabbing Holla and pulling him back on board, the gnome shouts instructions in his tiny voice. "Master Guts, can you do something to stun them? We need a free second to regroup!" His arms numb from the freezing cold shock and the weight of pulling Holla back aboard - bigjobs are heavy! - the druid nonetheless plunges them back into the swirling waters, latching on to Rone and pulling the assassin to safety as well. "We need a distraction!" he yells. Realizing Sir Barkley has been running about looking for someone to bite, he switches to a language the dog will understand. "Sir Barkley, bite the one in the mask - bite him twice!" Suggested Battle Order Matthias picks up Guts (Guts gets back on board) Matthias picks up Dyric (Dyric gets back on board) Guts throws electro bomb Dyric throws the Captain a bone Dog attacks Captain Dog attacks Captain Frog does nothing Frog does nothing No free hits
  19. I'm sure we'll all find out!
  20. Rushing onto the deck, Matthias is momentarily speechless as he comes face to face with a terrifying orange mask. Ducking backwards (and losing his Dapper Hat in the process), the druid takes up a fighting position in the back row and attacks the Second Mate with his Extraordinaire, then throws a bone to distract the Third Mate.
  21. "Giants? Shouldn't be a problem with these arms," Matthias says, attempting to fit into the DDSA and apparently missing the fact that just because everyone seems giant to him doesn't mean that there aren't even bigger beings in Olegaia....
  22. "Master Russell and Sir Pigley?!" Matthias exclaims, clearly delighted. "I know them well! I am honored to make your acquaintance, High Priest, and yours as well, Sir Barkley. And I am glad to hear you speak well of this ship's master; I had an encounter with some sailors less ...worthy on my first Quest and the experience has made me wary." Compelled by intense interest into the other conversation once again, Matthias' joy at meeting friends of Ruffers and Pigley only grows as Daneeka speaks of Orrik's Anvil and unveils the DDSSA, and reaches untold heights when Guts suggests the gnome carry it. "It would be an honor," he says, stepping towards the contraption, but then remembers his manners, "if you would permit, Doctor. And I would not dismiss the story of Orrik's Smithy; why, his workings are the root of all wonders wrought in life and metal - including your device! I should very much like to try it," he adds, his frantic excitement impossible to misunderstand.
  23. "I am called Matthias; it is a pleasure to meet you," the gnome says to Barkington, ignoring the sailor's funny look. Addressing the frog, he adds, "And a pleasure to meet you as well, I'm sure, though I didn't catch your name? And what did you mean, perfectly reformed?" The gnome's ears perk up at the word artifacts - any gnome's would - and Matthias finds himself trying to listen in to two interesting subjects at once, plus still wondering about the Bonaparte admiral.
  24. Shouldn't 3 dudes chillin' in a back alley eventually be a really easy encounter for a party of experienced heroes? I mean, yeah, it won't be a challenge for the players, but that's what it would really be like. Eventually stormtroopers just aren't challenging any more.
  25. Matthias wonders again about the lack of proper crew, but does his best to push his misgivings to the back of his mind. "I feel like most seagulls are," he remarks to the dog. "What's your name?"
