  1. Matthias seriously considers just waiting for Guts to return from the bowels of darkness, but decides that it might be a minute and he doesn't want to get stomped into the floor before then. "Forget Master Guts, help me load this cannon!" he yells to McColt. Battle Order > Matthias v. Left Leg McColt Hastens Matthias > Eyric v. Right Axe > Dyric v. Left Leg Pylon heals first injured party member > Matthias heals next injured party member; if none, v. Left Leg
  2. Matthias has been doing that a little lately because he's been depressed through his last few outings (and because I as a player felt like that was the default); I've been wanting to explore it further. However, the Gnomes of Eubric seem to live in Zylstra, and I keep wanting to take Matthias down there, but it hasn't happened yet. Any QMs going that way soon? Homeless gnome seeks fellowship of own kind. Will fire cannons for food.
  3. Hahaha, yep, I figured it out. I couldn't understand for a second there how Guts' strikes were so weak... then I realized I was an idiot hahaha.
  4. Guts v. Guardian - Shield/Riposte (([64+20]*3+39+4)*2*2=1180) Eyric v. Axe (Right) - Hit (37-12=25 Damage) McColt hastens Matthias - Failure (4) Guts v. Right Leg - Shield/Riposte (([64+20]*3+39+4)*2*2=1180, KO@620, Guardian KO@640, Left Axe KO@1040, 140 damage Right Axe) >Dyric v. Left Leg - Damage/Special Damage ([55/2]-6=22 Damage) Matthias v. Axe (Left Right) - Special Damage ([30/2]-4=11 Damage, Stunned) (Guts: 30-8=22 Damage, *Stunned*) Pylon heals Dyric - Success (1) Matthias shakes off the crushing blow and does his best to focus his befuddled mind to nurture Guts out of the stunned state.
  5. FTFY. Matthias isn't following any of them. He only has eyes for the beautiful Phflynn Phflyspyrhyr! You know, because Heroica is a single-player game and all.
  6. Anywl's response is perfect, though, just right to not break the fourth wall and still comment subtly on Hero absurdity... well done.
  7. Matthias follows Guts' lead and simply attacks, standing well back and chosing the left arm as his target. "Master McColt, do you think you could help me reload? It would hasten my barrage..." Almost under his breath, he remarks to Pylon, "I hope you healing ether is ready, Your Grace. We may need it." > Matthias: Extraordinaire vs. Axe (Left) > Pylon: Heal vs. First Injured Party Member > McColt: Hastened vs. Matthias? > Matthias (if hastened): Heal vs. Second Injured Party Member or Extraordinare vs. Axe (Left) if no remaining injuries
  8. Yeah, same here, and I thought that was a lot... until now.
  9. Noticing Guts down a few consumables, Matthias decides it's a pretty good idea and looks through his pockets. He's surprised to find potions, elixirs, and venoms of various sorts, but dismayed that he can only turn out one Nostrum and two Meads. Drinking 1 Mead, he tucks the rest back away and looks around cautiously, wondering if slithery serpentine stooges might be lurking in the dark along with the ancient golems. Shivering slightly, the gnome pulls out a Venom again and dumps it down the Extraordinaire's barrel. "Do you think the Lady would have sent us here if that was going to be a problem?" he asks in response to Guts' query, but his eyes are still fixed ahead into the gloom. "Do either of you sense anything I can't?" he asks the animals. Also, just noticed the Staff of Ennon and Noble Mask still in Matth's inventory - he gave them to Hybros a while back.
  10. Other than, you know, the entire nation? continent? area? of Dastan We can tell. No more Photoshop for you!
  11. Matthias nods to Daneeka, and nods again to Holla, not entirely sharing the latter's view of "dangerous ancient golems with only the drive to kill". He fiddles idly with the Peashooter's firing mechanism, clicking the striker plate back and forth, as they wait for whatever is next. "I suppose we just wait for McColt, then?"
  12. What happened to my vote for Flynn Flisperer?!
  13. Well, obviously she could go off the deep end at any moment....
  14. Matthias continues staring, but in rapt attention to the Lady's words. Orrik's Anvil, he thinks, barely breathing. What a wonder this will be. Turning to his fellows, then to Daneeka, and finally back to Talligard, he finds his tiny bass voice. "Master Dyric, do you know of a place here where we can refit and prepare to fight these guardians? Doctor Daneeka, when can we start? Lady Talligard, the guards said they might be coming to check on us. Is there some sort of pass or mark you might give us to walk freely through the city?" The gnome barely realizes how rapid-fire he's spitting his questions.
  15. Even then, Karie the Minstrel will be (is) extremely powerful (and Lind the Dragoon may be too). But the story gets more and more outrageous as we have to fight bigger and bigger rats.
  16. Flynn Flisperer Forever!!!
  17. I think this is actually the problem. There's no analogue in real life for this (all too common in games) situation: the players have reached the end of the progression. It's WoW where everyone buys the new expansion and automatically has 1 character upped to the highest level so they can do raids; it's Destiny where everyone has a Gjallarhorn and the next expansion has to be solely focused on new content above the current level cap; it's what will eventually happen to Heroica if the same characters keep playing. When the Master Classes were introduced (before I got here, possibly at the beginning of the game?), they didn't seem too OP because literally no one could play them... and they still don't seem too too bad because only a couple of characters have gotten that powerful. But in a system without permadeath (thankfully, since Matthias has wiped at least 5 times), eventually everyone will reach the "Master" level, and that will ruin the game.
  18. It's a wonder there aren't more Druids around....
  19. Matthias is also Lawful Good. I think playing a Lawful Good character is actually really challenging and interesting in Heroica because as Guts ScubaCarrot said it's a mercenary organization, in a city with no laws. How can you be lawful good in a group like that?! That's the best thing about Calamity - it's great!
  20. Matthias' bewilderment at the guard's reaction to "Lady Talligard" evaporates as they enter the hall. What was it Daneeka called her again? he wonders, but can't remember. The strange features of the lady's face leave the gnome staring uncomfortably as he waits for the Doctor's reply.
  21. Wondering why it is that heroes always get asked that question and not their employers who actually know what's going on, Matthias looks at Rone as well. Didn't he say something about being from here?
  22. I'll put 1 gold on that.
  23. As he stands before the gates of Duplovia, Matthias' bag suddenly feels heavier...
  24. Throughout the trip into Duplovia, Matthias can't shake the feeling that he's let the priest and the dog down. When Daneeka finally speaks, the gnome is relieved that he has something else to think about, and the proximity of Orrik's Anvil raises his spirits. "Who is Lady Talligard?"
