  1. Well this may not come as a big surprise but my favorite pirate set by far is the BSB. P
  2. Nice Ship B The ship looks real nice. *y* The main mast does seem a little tall, but i can understand wanting to out run larger frigates like Z's phantom. I'd put cannons of a smaller caliber on the top deck ;-) Similar to what Z did on his phantom. Is your ship going to go for a swim in the pool? Is this pool at your parents or your house? P
  3. Nice torsos woody I never thought powerpoint could edit images. kool, i'm gonna have to try that out. Thanx, P
  4. I think i did pretty good job on the top "stagnant" of the topmasts of the DDW. I used a flagpole/cannon ball plunger and 3 1x1 bricks w/ stud on side to connect one topmast on top of another. I figured something out to use for the first stagnant but it's at my brother's house when using 2x2 round bricks for masts instead of snot plates. can see if duke can get a pic online to show you if you'd like. P
  5. Nice MOC *y* There is a lot more detail in this moc now! :) I just have one question though... where is this island so i know to stay far, very far away from these cannibals? P
  6. Just a suggestion on this find vessel. The traditional design of masts on a sailing ship isn't straight up but stagnates (can't think of a better word) forward every one third height of the mast like this: P
  7. Aredhel, Nice MOC *y* The overall look of the ship has a cool and yet bizarre look to it. I like the use of the curved slopes and lattice bricks on the sides. The masts do seem a little tall and the ship seems a little "stubby" if you'd want to go for realism. Otherwise i'd just add more windows to the captain's cabin. I love the use of the mermaid for the figurehead. It looks a lot better than i'd though. Definitely going to have get one of them off of BL soon. *y* P
  8. That's a nice caffinated crew ya got there *y* :-D Is there going to be a ship for this crew or going to hang out at the coffee shop? ;-) Hey i know, they could be on the HMS Maxwellhouse and not drink rum but coffee :-P P
  9. All three of their PaBs are almost exactly the same except a couple types of bricks :-/ An F-FOL (friend-fan of lego :-D ) and i went to all three in one day and decided to only go to only 1 PaB next time. P Oh yeah, your elongated ship is coming along very well *y* How many cannon is probably going to be on it now?
  10. if they were to start up the pirate line again TLG could have something similar to how system town has been lately. For all the smaller pirate sets, they could go for way more playability than realism (or looks :-|| ). Then as the sets become larger focus more on realism and what AFOLs want. For instance with town, the fire and police stations. These structures don't have any back walls, and some of their vehicles are barely based on reality. While the Cafe corner is a beauty. This set is much larger and was built with the assistance of AFOLs i guess. So IF TLG decides to make system pirates again, they could go something along this route. Have a UCS frigate with a flushed deck and lots of cannons. Then the ships that are the same size as the BSB or RBR should still have a lot of realism but more playability while the smallest ships could be all playability. I figure, the more someone is paying for a set, the more serious they are at collecting sets and having more realistic sets, and the cheaper sets are for ppl's kids where the kids don't care much about realism and just want to play. P
  11. Maybe i should post some pics of what i'm looking for then ;-) Here be some other pics (click for full view): * * These are pics of the Naval Marines on the USS Constitution in the War of 1812. The dark blue are the regular combat marines while the red are the musicians. It appears there are two main variations of the dark blue unifom with different amount of yellow stripes. Not too picky about the yellow stripes though. Thanx Chief Torso Designer, P Edit: Hey B, Have you been able to keep up in the torso index with this thread?
  12. Hey Mosana, Have you done any American naval marines? I've tried looking through all the pages, and didn't see any :-$ Thanx, P
  13. From my house, there are 4 PaBs within a 3 hour driving radius. One of which is by Z's house and the other 3 are north and northwest of chicago. But after those 4, it's 900 miles (or about 1300km) until there is another towards my house. P
  14. If their shakos are $1.00 to $1.50 each like his other headgear, I'd get my 29 shakos at brickforge for sure. *y* And future business too X-D P
  15. Would a person be able to make their own copies of the exact lego shako just for themselves (and their family)? And not sell them to anyone. P
  16. You could try using pieces from this Harry Potter set (if you have it): You could have that mermaid with a spear as the figure head. P
  17. I keep on thinking of this comic when i read this thread :-$ Cracks me up everytime :-D P
  18. Hey jamtf, Just for your info, i think there is already a thread very similar to this one called Pictures of your troops. If it's the same topic then i suggest posting pics in the thread i mentioned, then feel free to post pics in the older thread. *y* If you want this thread to be different from the other thread, please specify how, otherwise this thread will probably be closed. P
  19. It appears we can make our own molds *y* If you look at this link, it shows how the mold is made and then how to make the part from that mold. Just pretend the ugly clone quatro piece is a beautiful shako. P
  20. I too am in need of shakos. Pretty soon, i'll need 29 shakos to complete all the headgear of the 55 marines on the USS Constitution :-/ and my brother will need about 100 shakos 8-o There isn't even close to that many shakos available in the US on BL :( I found this website called the minifig customization network. They suggested cutting up a top hat here to make a shako. |-/ Don't think i like that idea much. But the part i'm really interested in is silicone molding talked about here in another one of their forums. I think i may have to experiment with silicone molding. Seems reletively cheap. P
  21. CP here Didn't even know she excisted until i saw this poll |-/ Good idea Steve for a poll *y* P
  22. I see the similarieties now :-$ I was just mentioning the BSB inspired MOCs that had active threads at the time. but i found the thread to the HMS Unpredictable: So here be a couple more BSB inspired MOCs to check out: Mr. Tiber's HMS Unpredictable and from the new member Fender Bender The Triton's Vengeance Enjoy! P
  23. What's up with all you Minnesotans (Z and Commodore) knowing latin? :-D No one in Wisconsin seems to know latin. The ship is coming along very well Z. Since when on earth did you have all these tiles, plates and bricks? Seems like all these bricks came out of the wood work of your attic! Are all your other ships and forts still built? P
