I've been torn as to which type of figurehead to do :'-( I would have loved to do one with my wife's blue bucket and a small sail boat, but my creativity was lacking. |-/ So I used my new Black Skeleton to see how it'd turn out, so here it is: :skel1: Here's the third (and worst :-P ) image from the starboard side. Thanx B, I think i am going to use those nets like that for all the "hammock netting" on top of the rails instead of lattice bricks. That just means i need about 18 more nets :S Boy am i glad there's BL X-D Here's a nice little equation i've come up with: :-P + + + = That's right, that pile of bricks is what used to be (from left to right) my Xebec, my DDW, and my HMS Charlie. X-D (Hopefully you guys aren't too mad at me 8-| ) The pieces of card board in the above large pic are cut to lego scale of what the interior of the top three decks are on the constitution. Here's a couple err few semi-updated thumblinks of the constitution: I ran out the color of bricks i needed, but i used other colors instead until i get the needed bricks from BL. That looks really kool Mr. Errorist *y* I really like the way the stern looks. I liked it so much, I resized one of the images in your BS folder and posted it X-D If you have your images down 800x600, you can post the image right into the forum instead of posting a link ;-) P

Do you have any rown or brown inverted slopes to put between the hull sections? Well i'm glad you like that idea for a name. Careful though, i don't come up with good ideas often X-D P

I suggest making a larger ship then ;-) How about the Firebird? BTW, if you do come up with a name for this vessel, the title of the thread can be changed to what ever you like. *y* P

Check out this ancient chinese junk found in the Index of MOC Ships: From what i've seen, this ship uses that technique most extensively and maybe most successfully. :-$ Trying a similar method on the bow of my USS Constitution to get the curve in the front. P

I never thought about the gun boat part either :-$ I think it would be classified as a cutter, being that it has less than 10 long guns on it. P

Just a question on my limited knowledge of resin casting: IS, do you spray anything onto the wall of your caste before placing in "the goo" for casting? In chemistry, we made bouncy balls and there was something sprayed onto the walls to prevent the ball from sticking onto the wall. P

Are you talking about the wall height on top where the carronade is? Here's a couple of updated pics: Since i don't quite have the bricks needed to work on the stern or bow, I'm working on the "squarest" portion (or middle) of the the ship. Where there aren't any carronades, the spar deck walls are shorter with hammock netting along the side. Thinking about using the same netting for the tops of walls where carronades are instead of lattice bricks. I think this netting may work better. Where the 3 tan 8x8 lattice plates are is exactly half the width of the ship. There's going to be another 3 8x8 plates for the other half of the gangway. P

IS, This is very promising :) Do you have any clone shakos? They're discussed in the fake shakos thread It might be easier to make a mold for this one with the flat feather. P

Oh yeah, I was going to mention something about that in my last post :-$ I already am using 8 of those hinge plates for each porthole cover. If you check out this pic on my MAJ... In someone else's model of the Constitution shown above, you can see that the porthole covers are two small doors on top and bottom. So having 2 2x4 doors seems to work the best *y* (hopefully :-/ ) P

Will do *y* Here's as up to date as possible... Less than 15 minutes ago, I quickly built this larger "vig" so i can see the height differences of the spar deck (the one with the carronade) and the gun deck. The gun ports are 6 to 7 studs apart. (which is really close to what diagrams of the Constitution show) With that much room between cannons, i can see how there is up do 14 ppl manning a cannon at once. ;-) The gun ports on this vig (and on the ship) are little bigger than they're supposed to be, but to have a swinging door on the top and bottom wouldn't have worked otherwise :-$ This is supposed to be a "typical" portion of the ship. The slopes are going to be different at each portion of the ship. On an off topic note:(since it is "my" topic ;-) ) What's up with Mr. Tiber's and B's new avatars? Why aren't they piratey? X-D P
