  1. TLC as in the LEGO Group? Would you please explain very birefly and simply what exactly you see as a problem?
  2. Andy, this set is from 1987. What do you mean?
  3. I'm sorry but I still don't see your point. You obviously don't like the minidolls, but the Friends target group does, since Friends is a success. I don't like the minidolls either, but I won't let that bother me. I happily buy the sets and MOD them to be a part of my modular city.
  4. Wow, the ice cream truck is awesome! And the portable toilet – who said there are no toilets in LEGO city? :) Those two cityesque sets are probably the ones I'll get and they'll fit in nicely in a modular town. I already have the present garbage truck and that'll do just fine.
  5. While this might be true, what is the problem here? Why should LEGO try to integrate Friends and City? I see no problem in modding City or Friends buildings into modulars; similarly, one could easily mod Friends buildings to be part of LEGO city.
  6. Could someone help me out with Brickshelf? I tried to register there yesterday, but I never received the email that you need in order to verify the account and start using it. And I checked, it's not in my spam folder. Today I first tried to re-register but it won't accept it because it has the data from yesterday in the system. Then I tried the "forgot your password?" and they claim they sent a new password to my email address. But I did not receive it. Anyone else had similar problems? As far as I can see, there's no way to contact anyone at Brickshelf for assistance. Thanks! Edit: There's an email address on the site. I'll try that and we'll see!
  7. What do you think, businesscase-wise, about a set with 1000 pc, $100, that would be a sort of cross-over between City and Modulars and work as a good AFOL parts pack too? A 32x32 baseplate, a three-storey modern building that is easy to build and doesn't have that many architectural details but would come in a rare color, say cool yellow for instance. The ground floor would use four of those big windows that the 60026 Pizzeria has and it would be a car showroom, with two cars included. The second floor would be some other business (I wonder what would interest boys apart from pizza places and bike shops, any idea?) and the third floor would house an apartment. I believe all this is doable with ~1000 pieces. I've tried it with LDD and it works out allright. If the shops are of interest to boys, which I believe a car showroom would be (plus you get two vehicles, as well!), and the price is not too high, then this should attract the City target group. If the building sits on a baseplate with a sidewalk like the modulars and meets the size & scale requirements of a modular, it should be of interest to Modular collectors. A Modular city with historical buildings would be more realistic if some of the buildings were modern, I think. And a modern building is usually not as detailed -> lower price count. And if the building uses rare colors, then the set would be of interest to AFOLs as a parts pack.
  8. LegoFan117, I bet you just want the supermarket, but bake in the cops to make it City-appropriate ;) But yeah, the idea is good. Supermarket is good, the police make it even better in the eyes of TLG. I'm thinking of something that would be nice to have and could be made fire-related somehow. School with fire drills or evil pupils setting their school on fire? I wonder if the Friends school rules out a City one. Edit: now I know! A gas station that catches fire!
  9. Front view of the minifigs in set 60041. Now the system says I have a 6K upload limit so no back pic :(
  10. I agree, ResIpsaLoquitur, yeah, a cool yellow house, for instance, would certainly be great. BTW, has anyone else taken a real good look at the pineapples in the Juice Bar? I think the pattern might be a sticker, not a print.
  11. Mixed. If they made more Creator houses each year, that would certainly be a big plus. But OTOH, the Friends could very well move into the existing houses. They used to come with no minifigs at all. Now, they come with a minifig or two, but just evict them and have Mia and Stephanie move in instead. Eg. the Apple tree house or the 2013 Family house would suit the Friends quite well as they are, I think.
  12. I'm no City collector myself, but the vehicles make an exception – they work well with the Modulars. I have MOCed two 7498 Police Stations into one modular police station, so the motorcycle will fit in well. I've got to admit, though, that the primary reason I bought it was that it surprised me to see it so early on. I wish they'd be selling the LEGO Movie Ice Cream Truck and the Friends Juice Bar already...
  13. There you go; set 60041. There's printing on the cop's back. And 5 extra pieces, one of which is an extra wheel.
  14. I don't really see the OP's point here. I love it that the Friends theme is (almost) on scale with the minifigs, giving us lots of great sets not only for a city layout but also for a modular-based layout. Two Corner Bakeries make a wonderful corner bakery modular style when you add some details (and a couple of floors above, which is still in progress...). The City Café likewise. What I do is I simply ditch the minidolls. No one forces me to display them in my layout and I have plenty of minifigs who can staff the bakery etc. A kid will probably happily mix minidolls with minifigs – I loved the way tkatt described it, the ewoks partying at Olivia's house. No problems there either. I find Friends compatible enough with minifig scale themes and do not understand what exactly would be the problem with the minidolls.
  15. Reading about the rerelease 60031 here, I thought it was an exclusive for BR Toys. However, TRU is selling it here in Finland for €64.99. (BR sells it for €69.95 and gives a €20 discount to "members", which makes it rather attractive. Anyone can be a member, you just sign up on the website.)
  16. My very first post here, although I've been lurking for about a year. But now I couldn't resist anymore, I just had to let you know this. They are already selling set 60041 Crook Pursuit in Finland. Found it at a Citymarket in Espoo for €4.95. I would never have imagined that Finland is the place where the very first sets emerge. They didn't have any other 2014 sets though.
