LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
wesker replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I can't complain about the UT-AT. Its giving us something completely new from ROTS and it checks off two long awaited minifigures with Bacara and the Galactic Marines. If this is one of the sets coming with one of the two mystery Jedi its a safe bet we'll be getting a new Ki-Adi-Mundi as well. I do agree with the sentiment though that the theme is becoming too over saturated with the Clones and not really offering much else. Its why I'm really hoping the MTT is based off the Phantom Menace rather than the Clone Wars. I'd much rather be getting the characters from that film over more random clone commanders. -

One Age of Ultron set that can wrap up the remaining characters (Ultron, Quicksilver, non-phasing Vision) is enough for me. I don't really want to see the summer wave become too over saturated with MCU remakes at the expense of other superheroes. Depends on what the set is. I can get behind the suggestion of a D2C Helicarrier but don't really see the point in doing a cheap set if its just going to be a throwaway build with two recycled minifigures that are already available in other 2025 sets. But again this is just me wanting more variety out of the Marvel theme. -

Another Death Star is disappointing. I was hoping the next MBS would be Endor. Looking forward to a new MTT. I would prefer an updated Trade Federation version as that version is more iconic and we're long overdue for minifigures of Boss Nass and Theed Battle Padme, but I'm expecting it to be the Clone Wars version since we're rumored to be getting two more Jedi characters in addition to Plo Koon and this seems like a fitting set for that to happen. -

A combination of both the bunker and the village would be my preference. Might as well go for the full Endor package rather than just a portion of it. A set that size feels unnecessary to me. The exterior of the bunker wasn't that big in the film and the only room we ever saw was the shield generator. I'd rather Lego kept things simple here. The scale of the 2009 set is as large as I'd want it to go. -
It would be nice to finally get a fresh hairpiece for Ivy instead of the same basic one she normally uses. If she's based on the Animated Series I think Jean Grey's hair color would also work well on her.

Hopefully all three Force Ghosts are included in the MBS Endor set. The mentality that they can't be made because they're dependent on using transparent parts always seemed like a ridiculous excuse to me when its never been an issue for ghosts in other licensed themes. -

As long as the Separatists come with more than just Battle Droids. Its been ages since we've had Count Dooku, General Grievous, Nute Gunray and Season 1 Ventress in a set. Wat Tambor are Rune Haako are also long overdue. In fact I'd like to see more prequel era villains in general. Jango Fett is a great start for next year but Zam Wesell, Savage Opress, Aurra Sing, Pong Krell and Pre Vizsla could all use a modern update. I'm still waiting for a Mother Talzin figure as well. The only other clones I would add to that list are the Phase I Captain, Lieutenant and Sergeant from AOTC as they haven't been updated to the current style yet. Shield Bunker, Ewok Village or both? That is the question. -

Good riddance to the Advent Calendar. The Marvel ones have always had very little to offer in theirs compared to the other themes. Just repeats of minifigures that are already overused in a dozen other sets. I'm just about done with the legacy sets. There's only so many times you can keep getting the same MCU content over and over. Its just become stale now. At the moment its really just the Spider-Verse and Fantastic Four that's keeping my interest afloat. I'm just waiting to hear if there's any more X-Men sets coming in the summer wave but it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't. -
No Superman sets is really disappointing. I'm on the fence with the new Batcave. There's been so many over the years that the only way I'm going to be hyped for another one would be for a D2C. Its ultimately going to come down to which minifigures are included. BTAS would be my first preference but I wouldn't mind the Dark Knight trilogy if covered more of the missing cast. I'm not really interested in another comics version. I assume the character choices would just be the safe options we always get and many of them will probably carry over to the Arkham Asylum D2C.

I second Satine. She and Mother Talzin are the two biggest Clone Wars characters that haven't been done yet. They're both long overdue for a minifigure. I'm hoping Kit Fisto is one of the two new Jedi minifigures coming next year. Not only does the old figure look dated but it also suffers from the rubber head deteriorating and the brittle brown body. I wouldn't mind if they went with something closer to Ahsoka this time by using a standard minifigure head and a separate piece for the tentacles. Where are the missing prequel characters besides Kit Fisto and the clones? Boss Nass, Shmi Skywalker, Rune Haako, Wat Tambor, Dexter Jettster, Lama Su, Captain Typho, Yaddle, Yarael Poof, Oppo Rancisis, Adi Gallia, Depa Billaba, Tion Meddon, several Padme costumes and a new Zam Wesell are all still sorely needed. -

The new Bucky figure is just awful. Wrong hair color, no arm printing and a messy costume design. As if I needed another reason to skip this set. Hopefully we can get some Galactus pics soon and news on what's coming in the summer wave. The Marvel theme is off to a rather underwhelming start for next year. -
The Aquaman/Thor hairpiece would make more sense for Thorin, Kili and Fili. Eomer too if we get another figure of him. Balin could easily be done combining the Snow White dwarf beard with General Dodonna's hairpiece. Dori also has Morgan Elsbeth's hairpiece available which is styled almost exactly like his old hairpiece.
-
To be honest I don't think many of the dwarves even need new molds. Characters like Thorin, Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Gloin, Dori and Ori can easily be done using modern parts. Bofur, Bombur, Bifur, Oin and Nori are really the only ones I can think of that need new molds. That's about what I'm expecting. I can't see Bag End going all out with the minifigures when other recent D2C sets like Barad-Dur, X-Mansion, Sail Barge and Medieval Town Square all had a relatively low selection of characters.

I can't speak for anywhere else but according to the staff at my local Lego store its been a moderate seller at best. No where near as successful as the Marvel modulars but not a complete failure like the Hulkbuster and Black Panther Bust were either. Just a mid performing set overall. I imagine if Arkham Asylum is a modular we'll be looking at a similar footprint to the Natural History Museum with brooding colors and gothic architecture. I don't think we'd have to worry about Marvel coming out with anything too similar to that. Most are assuming Oscorp and the Baxter Building are the next logical options and both of those are modern skyscrapers. They couldn't be further apart in appearance to Arkham. -

Brick Reporter isn't a reliable source. He's a clickbaiter that takes news from other accounts and passes it off as his own while filling any gaps with BS. Jedi Bricks is another one that's just as bad. -

It should be worth noting Arkham is supposed to come out during the summer next year. If Marvel were to release another modular building of their own in November it shouldn't cannibalize the sales that much if the two sets have a six month gap between them. That's the same period of time that's separating Arkham's release date from the X-Mansion's. -

Poe's X-Wing seems like a safe choice to go with. Takodana also gets my vote if it includes some of the background characters like Sidon Ithano and Bazine Netal. Would love to get Babu Frik but I suspect we'll probably be getting some of his species when The Mandalorian and Grogu movie wave comes out. -

I don't think the quota has been filled just yet. I suspect they will at least follow through with either Nightcrawler, Jubilee or Cable after teasing them in the mansion and Cerebro. I don't mind DC getting the modular spot given that the theme has been on life support the past few years. Hopefully Arkham doesn't suffer from the same size restrictions that the mansion did. I'm still keen to see what Marvel has in store for their D2C next year. We're overdue for a new Helicarrier set and there's still plenty of opportunities for non-modular location sets like Iron Man's Malibu Mansion or Asgard. -

Hopefully their main outfits. With how little we get out of DC these days it would be incredibly cheap to have all the villains reuse the same torso. The only character that should come in the Arkham jumpsuit is Joker like the 2012 set. This is roughly the line up I'm expecting. I think Batgirl (existing comic figure) or Robin (BTAS) are probably more likely than Nightwing depending on what source material the set will be based on. If we get Poison Ivy I hope she has a unique face and leg printing again. Her last figure that came out around 2019 with the Mantis head was really underwhelming. -

I hope they can keep the momentum going forward when Season 2 rolls round in 2026. It would be a shame if the X-Men sets dried up until the films start up again post-Secret Wars and Doomsday. There's still a lot of ground to cover and I think the three main areas that need to be focused on before the MCU takes over are: Completing the '97 Roster (Jubilee, Nightcrawler, Morph, Cable, Sunspot and Forge) Release the remaining core X-Men from the comics (Colossus, Kitty Pryde, Angel, Emma Frost and Psylocke) Expand the roster of villains beyond Magneto -

Both sets are an easy pass for me. The new Red Hulk figure looks good but that's about all the set has going for it. The rest of the characters look pretty boring and the set itself is just another throwaway build for a film that's going to be forgotten about in a few months time. The Hall of Armor looks far too small for the price range and aside from Iron Patriot the minifigures aren't really all that exciting. -

The skin tone is a huge improvement over the tan. It looks to me like a new color somewhere between white and light bluish grey but that could just be the lighting. Another thing that makes this figure stand out is the printed skirt piece. It looks so much better than the oversized capes the ROTJ figures use and I'd like to see this change carry over for all Palpatine figures going forward. -

I've given up trying to keep track of this topic. Between Turtle's trolling and the Asylum spam its impossible to discuss anything related to next year's sets. -
Hopefully the Witch-King Battle too.

I don't think we can rely on the minifigures to accurately guess what the next modular is going to be. There's just too many options on the table. Based on what minifigures are available in 2025 you're already looking at: Oscorp or Fisk Tower (Venom and Spiderverse sets) Avengers Compound (Civil War and Endgame dioramas) Avengers Mansion (Comic Avengers sets) Malibu Mansion (Iron Man 3 Hall of Armor) Baxter Building (Fantastic Four vs Galactus) Daily Planet (Superman tie-in sets) Arkham Asylum (recently rumored with 5 BTAS and 4 comic book figures available for reuse)
