LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I can understand the disappointment. The OT has been so well covered at this point that there aren't many potential new minifigures left they can come up with. The only characters that are still missing are Aunt Beru, Nien Nunb and less notably any named Imperial Officers and Yavin Pilots. Costume variants are down to the Force Ghosts, Bespin Escape Leia and Medical Frigate Luke/Lando. And aside from an Imperial Dignitary the only background characters anyone really still wants are more Cantina and Jabba's Palace aliens. Meanwhile the prequels have a pretty large backlog of missing characters that doesn't look like its going to be filled anytime soon. The Disney Era has its fair share too but due to the interconnected nature of their Disney+ shows isn't as big a deal since many of those characters are likely to show up again in the future. -

Curious to see what Yoda's Training turns out to be. A more detailed display piece of the hut built into a tree and the addition of the cave of evil would be a big upgrade to the 2018 set. Not sure what to expect with the Death Star Battle. The duel on Kef Bir would be something new and exciting, especially as we don't really get Sequel Trilogy sets anymore. Another possibility could be a diorama of the trench run from the original film. If its just going to be another playset reenacting the interior scenes from ANH it will be an easy pass since I already have the UCS/MBS version. Bit disappointed we aren't seeing anymore of the downsized sets at affordable price ranges in the new wave. -

I imagine they won't be any different from the blister packs for Marvel, DC and Harry Potter. Major characters recycled from existing sets with a unique character or two thrown in. Just for example: A Mandalorian Pack would feature the same old Mando, Grogu and IG-11 figures but also come with an exclusive Kuiil. A Cantina Pack would feature the same Han and Greedo figures but also include an exclusive BoShek. A Bad Batch Pack would feature the same Hunter and Wrecker figures but also include an exclusive Omega. One downside is that they don't normally create new molds for these packs. Reprints of existing ones sure, but I wouldn't hold out for any Kaminoans showing up. -

It would also make amassing armies a lot harder as the blister packs are normally exclusive to Lego stores. Plus the moment they include desirable figures like Clone Troopers you can guarantee the scalpers will be hoarding up all the sets before anyone else has a change of scoring a copy. -

Definitely keen for a new Jabba's Palace set but its one of those locations I would rather see as a large MBS set over a small retail one. The Mos Eisley Cantina really raised the bar for iconic Star Wars locations as display pieces and Jabba's Palace could really benefit with a set at that scale and level of detail. A big part of the appeal is also the crazy background aliens that populate the palace which can only be pulled off with a large 20-something minifigure count (double that if they coincide a release of Jabba's Palace with a D2C Sail Barge the following year) Still it does make sense as a potential tie-in for TBOBF and would be a nice alternative way of getting the new Boba Fett and Fennec Shand figures. I'm not sold on the legitimacy of the rumor just yet but we'll see what happens. -

Nice to know they've changed the proportions to reflect the different model used in the film. I second the suggestion that Chewbacca should be a snowy variant. -

The packs are normally exclusive to Shop@Home and certified Lego stores. This really isn't the kind of set you'd want to be building armies with. If you thought scoring a copy of the 501st Clone Battlepack was hard, getting one of these will become near impossible. -
Only problem with that theory is the Master Builder Series sets coming out every two years. We should be due another playset in the second half of 2022 to replace the Mos Eisley Cantina. And the other D2C spot for next year is already rumored to be a UCS Landspeeder.

Going by the Marvel and DC packs I'm expecting it to include named characters rather than army builders. They usually include at least one exclusive figure. Kind of hoping its based on the Mandalorian if it means getting Kuiil. -

Sounds like we'll be getting a Star Wars figure and accessory pack next year similar to these: https://brickset.com/sets/40453-1/Batman-vs-The-Penguin-Harley-Quinn https://brickset.com/sets/40454-1/Spider-Man-versus-Venom-and-Iron-Venom -

There was a recent interview with the design team around when the summer wave got announced at Lego Con. For the life of me I can't remember which site posted it but they did mention they're aware Beru still hasn't gotten a minifigure yet and ended somewhere along the lines of "we can't comment on upcoming product but keep an eye out for the future". For me it was the 18+ Darth Vader's Meditation Chamber set. Could definitely see them doing the homestead entry hut on a black display stand with a small sand dune for the Binary Sunset scene. -

While I'm glad they're continuing the 18+ sets, $60 seems a bit much for an AT-ST even with a display base. The last couple releases have already been pushing it with the size. Hopefully we find out what the rest of the wave is soon and the leakers don't keep dragging it out one set at a time. -
Going to reply to this post in the wishlist topic since its more relevant here - but what about Darth Maul's Resurrection? Its a pretty big moment in Maul's story and wouldn't be any different to having a set based on Darth Vader's Transformation. Something similar to the Mandalorian Forge could definitely work. All you need for the builds is Maul's spider appendages and some Dathomir scenery. Plus you'd have some pretty desirable minifigures with a new Maul variant, Talzin for the first time and a non-animated Savage. Anything else from those episodes would probably be too niche to release today but this is one scene I think could actually work.

Is it too much to ask for some Nightsisters next year? Doubt it will happen but that Mother Talzin minifigure looks seriously awesome! Ren and Vanee would be pretty cool too. -

A Razor Crest microfighter was bound to happen sooner or later. Wonder if they keep the arm printing on Mando or omit it like they did for the Wookie Gunship? Don't mind if the second microfighter is Slave I assuming Boba also keeps the arm printing, but I also wouldn't mind Gideon's TIE Fighter if it meant having a more affordable way of getting the show's main villain. -

Glad to hear battlepacks are returning. Been ages since we last had a Hoth themed one. Not too keen on the price increase and hoping the Scout Trooper is the same standard version from Endor and the Mandalorian. -
Definitely buying the smaller Tumbler. Minifigures look great and the set itself looks amazing! Hopefully there's plenty of stock available because I imagine this one is going to sell out even faster than the 60's Batmobile did.

The trailer looks amazing! Hopefully the long delay will be worth the wait. Seeing Crait Luke and Battle Padme reminds me how badly those two need a proper minifigure release. Not always the case. While Lego games do mostly create their own designs for unreleased characters, there have been instances where upcoming minifigures due for release in the near future were first revealed in the video games. I remember it happening with the first Marvel Superheroes, LOTR and Hobbit games. Even this one has already given us our first look at arm printed Darth Vader before the Final Duel set was even unveiled. -
Its too soon for a Daily Planet now but there shouldn't be an issue releasing one in 4-5 years once the Bugle has been retired, especially if superhero modulars become yearly releases. Despite both being press buildings the Daily Planet does have a notably different exterior from the Bugle which would also help distance similarities between the two.

Either one could work for 2022. In the Sanctum's case you have it appearing in two upcoming films (No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness) so it makes sense to release a modular set while its relevant and getting plenty of on-screen exposure. Plus it avoids the issue of another skyscraper feeling repetitive so soon after the Daily Bugle. On the other hand the Avengers is celebrating its 10th Anniversary next year and the Avengers/Stark Tower is such an iconic part of that film. Having a modular set themed around the Battle of New York seems like the perfect way to go about it. -
I'd be happy for them to just re-release the Rebels version of Darth Vader's TIE Fighter as a stand alone set. It's already down scaled and matches perfectly with the 2021 TIE Fighter. Plus there's very little they can do to improve upon the design of the build other than changing up the roof canopy. On the topic of scaled down sets I really want to see a new Naboo Starfighter. The 2007-2015 models feel too long and stretched and it could really benefit from going back to the smaller size of the original 1999 set. Would also be nice to have the astromech droid in the correct orientation, maybe utilizing some SNOT techniques on the sides like the X-Wing does. If they cut down on the side builds they could easily come up with something as low as $29.99.

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Looks like a pretty solid wave. Falcon Cap is definitely the best of the lot. For a moment I thought Bucky was reusing Poe Dameron's face but its definitely new, just very similar. Will be interesting to see if any of these parts show up in next year's Infinity Saga sets. -

Not me. As much as I like the films the costume designs are among the most boring and unimaginative to ever appear in a superhero film. I would rather get X-Men sets based off the comics or 90's Animated Series because those versions of the characters are much more visually interesting. -
Yeah unfortunately for Snootles there's no way around that. I think Droopy could get away with using a standard minifigure head like Ten Numb and Goss Toowers do.
-
Only problem I have with that line up is there is a lot of redundancy with the background characters. Do we really need four different Nikto characters? Especially Ak-Rev who is among the least memorable of the band members? I'd be happy just sticking with one figure labeled as "Nikto Guard" in favor of getting a bit more character variety. I think the palace has enough notable characters with the performers. Sy Snootles and Droopy McCool are all you need to complete the original pre-Special Edition Max Rebo Band. In Snootles case she also has the benefit of appearing in The Clone Wars which takes away a lot of the obscurity surrounding her compared to the other background characters. The trio of Rystall, Greeata and Lyn Me would also add some much needed vibrancy to the palace and could get away without the use of new molds.
