Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
wesker replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think we may get more minifigures than what was shown in the leaked image but it won't be anywhere as high as what the Daily Bugle and Avengers Tower got. Probably around 15 at most if we're lucky. The main additions I think could stand a chance are: Jean Grey and Gambit (too popular to be skipped over especially if the X-Mansion is the only other set we're getting next year) Jubilee to complete the original team Bishop due to his prominence in other X-Men 97 merchandise from Hasbro and Funko Mr. Sinister as he's the main villain of the new series I'm less confident on Deadpool appearing. The 18+ branding is an easy way to get around his character and capitalize on the new movie but I can see them holding off on releasing him if he's going to be one of the leads in Secret Wars and keeping the set's focus solely on the animated series. -

I'll be surprised if they can even get Blade off the ground. Everything about its development has been a complete disaster so far. I think Fantastic Four probably stands a much stronger chance of making the 2025 release date than Blade does at this point. I wouldn't be shocked if Iron Heart gets ends up getting shelved either. Aside from being a show nobody asked for it sounds like its story is also going to be heavily tied into Armor Wars which doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon. -

The Mandalorian finale sets sound fantastic! Plenty of great minifigures to look forward to with Beskar Gideon, Koska Reeves, the Super Commandos and Praetorian Guards. Just a shame that the Mandalorian Fleet Commander will be reused. They missed the opportunity of having Axe Woves in his place. Its also great that we're getting Captain Rex as well as multiple sets for amassing Shock Troopers at such an affordable price. A new AAT and MTT would both be welcome. If they do show up in the summer wave I hope they take the opportunity to finally give us minifigures of Boss Nass and Theed Battle Padme. Its ridiculous that the theme has gone on this long without them. Shmi showing up as the anniversary figure for the Boonta Eve Podrace diorama would be great as well. -

The tower looks massive in that video compared to the box images. Can't wait to see how it looks displayed alongside the Daily Bugle. Hopefully the Bugle's sign overhanging the building won't be an issue. The Leviathan also looks to be a pretty substantial build. Just less than a week for an official reveal now. Check the Rogue post on the Legoleak subreddit. The second pic is at the top of the comment section. The colors look much better in the second image. The costume is using the correct shade of yellow while the hairpiece appears to be brown after all. -

Glad to see Rogue will be included in the X-Jet. Overall the figure looks good but is not without flaws. Dual molded legs would've looked much better (although realistically I never expected it to happen in a winter wave set) and I'm not too keen on the choice of dark orange for the hair instead of reddish brown. I'm guessing its going to be the same color for Cyclops as well. With 5 members of the team now covered we better be getting Jean Grey, Gambit and Jubilee in the Mansion to complete the original TAS line up. Also nice to see a new Quicksilver minifigure is on the way, especially in light of his absence from the Avengers Tower set. Can't say I'm excited for a new Hydra Soldier if its just going to be another Age of Ultron figure again. They look pretty boring compared to the First Avenger variant seen in the Lego Marvel special. Hopefully we get some set images soon. I'm eager to see how the build for the X-Jet turns out along with the No Way Home, Guardians of the Galaxy and Age of Ultron sets. -

Those three definitely seem the most likely. I'd also throw in Bruce Banner and Loki. I can't see those two skipping out on this set. I assume the second Captain America figure will round out the final spot. I'd prefer getting one from each movie, but I can also see them reusing the unmasked figure from Advent Calendar to recreate the bridge battle. I wasn't expecting he would to be honest. With 31 minifigures in the set it didn't seem likely that we would be getting much in the way of dual molding or excessive printing. I'm really hoping for this as well. Not really a fan of the pink head they used on the previous figure or the way the green printing cuts off on the sides. I have no doubt all the existing characters will be repeated. That seems inevitable especially with their presence in the leaked preliminary image. What's going to make or break the X-Mansion is how many new characters the set is going to include. Xavier, Mystique, Sabretooth and Emma Frost are decent offerings but as a whole they're not enough. At bare minimum the set HAS to include Jean Grey, Rogue, Gambit and Jubilee as well. Those characters are too essential to the series not to be included. If we at least get those characters I'll be satisfied enough that we have a decent start with the X-Men. I'd love to get Sinister and Nightcrawler as well but realistically I don't expect to see much of the supporting characters. I think many of those will be held off for future X-Men sets from 2025 and beyond. -
The Gotham City set sounds interesting but its a shame we're only getting four figures. Including Catwoman is fine but I wish it wasn't at the expense of losing Mr. Freeze and Phantasm.

Glad we have confirmation Barad-Dur is definitely coming along with a Sauron figure. I'm also hoping it comes with some Last Alliance minifigures. A new Gollum for the dungeons would be welcome too.

Wasn't expecting to be getting anniversary minifigures and even better that they're all new characters rather than some kind of gimmick like the golden minifigures. Fives is a welcome addition and its great to be adding another Sith Lord to the collection. Can't wait to find out who else we might be getting. I hope its Boss Nass. He's been one of the biggest gaps in the saga for the past 25 years and easily one of the most requested minifigures in a long time. He would also tie in well with the anniversary for TPM. It depends on how many Great Mothers they would intend on making. One of them wore a similar headdress to Talzin and is going to require a new mold for it anyway. The benefit of releasing one character is that it would open the door for the other. Perhaps the Medieval Town Square could also remake the Classic Castle cone hat in a way that can be repurposed for both these characters? The other two Great Mothers should be fairly simple figures to make as they can just reuse the CMF wizard hat and the 2019 Jedi/Sith hood. I would welcome every one of these characters. Nien Nunb would be a great choice for the Falcon! I don't really see them doing a ROTJ themed playscale version so including him here as a bonus figure here would be a nice alternative. -

I'm not bothered that she never appeared in the tower. We haven't had a proper minifigure of the Wasp since 2018 and she has been due for an update for some time now. And regardless of the set being based specifically on the MCU, the Wasp is still an important character in Avengers lore being a founding member in the comics. For me that is enough to warrant her a spot on the set's roster even if the films have done such a poor job at utilizing her character and incorporating her into the team. I also don't have an issue if Lego wants to include other heroes not associated with the tower. If Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and Winter Soldier show up in the final product that's fine by me. Might as well go all out by giving us the ultimate Lego Avengers line up. -

Unfortunately I don't think Lego will go that deeply into the rest of Ahsoka. The Police Gunship is a set I could see being on the cards. Ezra, Sabine and 2 Night Troopers wouldn't be far off what we got in the Clone Wars version with Anakin, Ahsoka and 2 Shock Troopers. The Chimera is the only other set I think could be a realistic possibility. We're due for another play scale Star Destroyer/Imperial Cruiser soon so this set would fill that void. They can at least wrap up the essential characters with Ahsoka the White, Thrawn and Enoch here. I have doubts we'll get all three Nightsisters but the lead Great Mother (Klothow) might stand a chance of being thrown in. She should be a fairly simple minifigure as she's more or less just a red version of this: My guess would be the updated costumes introduced in Tales of the Jedi. They seem to have retconned those into replacing the original Season 1 looks, especially in light of the Teth and Ryloth flashbacks from the Ahsoka series. -

The Wasp figure looks similar to the previous one but it addresses my main complaint I had with the original which was the helmet mold. The new helmet looks much better here. The Keven Fiege figure is unexpected. Don't really care about getting him but it does open the door for other potential characters to show up in the Avengers Tower that we don't know about yet. Hopefully that won't be the case. I don't mind passing on the new additions to the team but I hope they at least prioritize on including all 9 main characters from the original show. I thought Thor was mentioned in the initial rumor. I believe he was listed among the reused minifigures indicating it was going to be the same figure from the Quinjet and Thor's Hammer sets. -

I'm pretty sure minifigures already in production don't add to the cost of a set. That's the benefit of having the CMF series and X-Jet come out first. As a hypothetical scenario lets say the X-Mansion has the design budget for eight new minifigures. The CMF has already provided Wolverine, Storm and Beast The X-Jet provides Cyclops, Jean Grey, Rogue and Gambit That's seven minifigures now available in addition to the eight spots from the mansion's design budget. Now the X-Mansion can include: Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Cyclops, Jean, Rogue and Gambit as recycled minifigures Professor X, Jubilee, Bishop, Sunspot, Magneto, Mystique, Sabretooth and Mr. Sinister as new exclusive minifigures The exception to this would be if one of the preexisting characters has a costume change. If Beast came with a lab coat then that new torso and leg print would be coming out of the mansion's budget, taking away a spot that could have otherwise gone towards a new character instead. The leaked image looked like an early concept for an X-Men set that took inspiration from a number of different sources. The tan colors in particular are definitely more reminiscent of the mansion seen in the Fox movies than the browns from the cartoon. As a product likely based directly on X-Men 97 I think the model will have to undergo some changes to closer reflect what we see on the show. -

Hopefully they have a few surprises ready in the summer wave. I'm expecting it will just be more Infinity Saga sets again but I'll be happy if we at least get a Sentinel set thrown in there somewhere. Just any characters missing from the leaked minifigure list. Quicksilver, Loki and Selvig are the main omissions that stood out to me. I'm also hoping Ant-Man comes as a regular sized minifigure and not just a repeat of the trophy piece. It doesn't make sense to leave him out if we're getting a new Wasp minifigure and who knows when those two are going to be revisited again after how poorly their last film did. Coulson and Maria Hill would also be welcome for the sake of completion but realistically I don't expect to see either of them appear here. More likely we'll have to wait for a SHIELD Helicarrier remake to get them again. -

I agree the Phoenix figure could be much improved today. In addition to using a lighter shade of green I think the yellow parts of the costume could be replaced entirely with pearl gold instead. Firestar's hairpiece from the Daily Bugle would also look a lot better than the one that was used on the Comic Con figure. I don't mind if they did give Mystique a printed skull. It wouldn't be much different to Bo having a printed headset on her minifigure and it looks fine there. If they're going to create new pieces for the characters I'd rather they went to someone like Juggernaut or Apocalypse instead. For other villains in the X-Mansion we can't forget about Sabretooth. He was present in the leaked set image and is a pretty important antagonist being that he's Wolverine's arch nemesis. It would also be a shame not to get Mr. Sinister given that he will be the primary villain of the new series. -

Dual molded legs would be preferable but I could see Lego cheapen out on a couple characters. Rogue could very easily just get leg printing like this Wolverine figure. Gambit and Jubilee could also use the printed trench coat technique that a lot of other minifigures have been using lately. One character who will definitely need dual molded arms is Mystique. I just can't see them pulling off her animated/comic costume without it. She's already expected to appear in the mansion so hopefully they can find the budget for it. Also hoping she gets the new Bo-Katan hairpiece in red. A molded visor would look great! I'm expecting him to come with a printed one again like last time but it would still be nice if they did decide to go all out with a specialized piece. I can't think of too many other characters who really need new molds. Mainly big figs like Apocalypse and Juggernaut but I doubt we'll be seeing them next year. -

There's the 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers. We haven't seen these guys since 2007 while Commander Bly has yet to appear in a set. There's also the BARC Trooper that was last seen in 2014. Finally there's the 442nd Siege Battalion Clone Trooper. This one doesn't actually appear in the movie (they did have CGI models for them) but it would still be nice to get a modern remake of it. -

I don't think it will happen with the X-Jet. If the CMF figures are reused its more likely to be in the X-Mansion. Four unique characters seems plausible to me. A lot of X-Men 97 merchandise seems to really be centered around Cyclops, Magneto, Gambit, Rogue and Bishop in particular so I could see those being the primary characters Lego might choose to focus on with the X-Jet. With the CMF figures I think Wolverine and Storm have a good chance of being completely reused for the X-Mansion. If the set is themed around X-Men 97 it wouldn't make sense to be putting them in costumes they never wear on the show. Beast could end up being the lab coat variant we saw in the preliminary image with only the head and hair reused. -

Hopefully any reused minifigures will be limited strictly to the X-Mansion. I do wish we could get some confirmation from leakers already as to which characters are actually included in the X-Jet so we can put all this speculation to rest. -

Lego reusing elements from CMF figures has happened more than you'd think. Sometimes it will just be a single print such as a head or torso. Other times it's an entire minifigure that's either completely unchanged or only receives minor alterations such as a new facial expression. The main examples I can think of include: Head prints for Aquaman, Scarlet Witch and Wonder Woman Series 22 Bard in the Lion Knights Castle (only the legs remain exclusive to the CMF) Dobby in Privet Drive (only the face print was changed) Series 8 Santa in multiple Advent Calenders and the Winter Village Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and Krusty in the Simpsons and Lego Dimensions sets Donald Duck in the 2016 Disney Castle Princess Tiana in the 2023 Disney Castle Dick Grayson and Arkham Joker in The Lego Batman Movie There could be more beyond that. I believe a few early CMF figures like the Wicked Witch and Statue of Liberty were also reused in some Lego store exclusive products. -
Sign me up for some HK Droids! I do wonder if regular minifigure bodies are going to be the standard for most droids going forward. We haven't really had a specialized droid body since 2-1B in 2018's Hoth Medical Chamber. I also remember there was an interview last year with the Lego designers (I believe from Comic Con) mentioning they are aware of the issues surrounding the Super Battle Droid's brittle joints and how they will need to be redesigned before appearing again in future sets. I think both the HK Droids and MagnaGuards would work perfectly fine as a standard minifigure and wouldn't be opposed to K2-SO, EV-9D9 and 2-1B getting redesigned in that fashion either.

That's good news. The set already has a low piece count as it is. At least the focus will be solely on the jet and not wasting parts on a pointless side build. I stand by that the Sentinel needs to be its own separate set. They're supposed to be huge towering robots and the tiny mech we got in 2014 did not do it justice at all. -

The Baxter Building seems like a prime contender for 2025 when the Fantastic Four make their MCU debut. I think its going to come down to either that or the Daily Planet from Superman Legacy depending on which film gets the bigger marketing push. Oscorp is another option but they might wait until the Bugle has retired before coming out with another Spider-Man themed modular. Beyond those two I could see them moving away from the modular building format in favor of stand alone D2C sets. We're already expecting that to be the case with the X-Mansion next year but Asgard and the Avengers Compound could also be done in a similar fashion.
