Resolving incompatibilities between Stud.io and Bricksmith
elfprince13 posted a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It was suggested elsewhere that I share some of my models on Bricklink Studio Gallery as a way to try and draw interest to my LEGO Ideas project, but I'm running into some problems with Stud.io missing parts and being unable to handle custom parts bundled as subfiles due to ignoring geometric primitives. Presumably I could move some parts into Studio's Unofficial parts folder, but it seems like that would then not visualize correctly if shared via the Gallery. Any suggestions on possible workarounds?- 2 replies

There were 738(I think) entries into the Brick Train Awards but we only saw about 50 of them. There have been questions on Facebook weather they were going to post all of the entries and the answer was sadly no. So here I would like to see the entries you the reader submitted into the brick train awards. So please post some of your entries here so we can see them in all of their glory. You can post as many entries of your you would like. 6 or less photos of the model and one video are allowed and one photo of the prototype if you want(this is what was done for the BTA's) and please if you decide to post don't go on rambling about why you didn't win and be a sore loser but don't brag if you won. Lastly please say kind thing about other entries if you want to. Here is my entity.

Mindstorms Gallery Closing
DamonMM2000 posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So this is tragic news... the Mindstorms Gallery is closing? Does that mean that I lose all my projects that I uploaded? As if closing the message boards wasn't enough? Fortunately, I have a website, so all of that can be moved... but I still can't believe this is happening. So many memories... And I really dislike the format of the new gallery. It appears as if you can only add pictures, similar to the Technic gallery. That's a huge step backward. What is LEGO doing? -
Are there any MOC sites that highlight specific LEGO parts?
Henchmen4Hire posted a topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was hoping to find a place where I could browse people's MOCs, filtered by specific part. For example, lets say I wanted to find MOCs that use 52035: I would just type that part number in a search box and the site would give me all MOCs including it. Is there any site like that? And if not, is there any interest in a site like that? I think it could host contests to see all the clever ways people use a specific part. -
PHP-based one-script LXF Gallery Viewer-thing!
Gnac posted a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I've been hoarding this thing for a while - it was a proof of concept which formed the basis of a personal inventory management app which I've lost interest in, but I kept it because it performs its purpose so well. If you have a PHP enabled webserver or localhost, this script can scan a folder of LXF files and return some useful information, such as the thumbnail image, brick count, LDD version and brickset. It's probably not suitable for reading several hundred files at once, but I hope it will be interesting and useful to novices and experts alike, perhaps even serving as a basis for your own projects. See the thing here! (demo with some MOCs / official models, using a mix of internal and external image previews) Get the thing here! (link updated: 2014-12-10) CHANGELOG (full changelog is included with the readme, also viewable here) 20141210 @ 16:11 [bugfix] Added a check on the main gallery loop to supress a script error when no LXFs are found. [bugfix] Completely removed the XML parsing "function" responsible for the "file_exists()" issue - the functionality is used only once per loop, and can be done in a single line anyway. -
The Petraea General Trading Company was quick to take advantage of the art tourists visiting the quaint ateliers and beautiful light of Ruadh. In the distinctive gallery of Mme Franck, the wealthy could exchange their riches for paintings that told the world that they were customers of exquisite taste and discernment. This building was made entirely with stuff already on my desk, which is basically my PaB visit and some decorative elements I picked up at the HKACG. Still not unpacked my bricks post move
