    Corner town house

I agree, those flowers add a nice touch of life to your house. It's just few additions, but the general look is more better. And the red colors for those flowers is the right choice IMO. After looking carefully at your beautiful house, I have another small things that I will change... On the first floor, there is a tan strip between the top of the windows and the white decoration while those decoration are just on top of the windows, without that strip of tan on the ground floor. I know, I'm a little perfectionist, so take it as a constructive comment and not like a criticism. I really love your house and I will perfectly see it in my layout! I'm actually working on a corner house, on which I have already made the ground floor. I would like to take some ideas from your house, if I have your permission : how you made the chimney, the decoration above the roof and the rounded bow window. For this last part, if I don't happen to fix it properly like you, could you post some pics on how you made it?

    Modular Neighborhood Preview Pics

It seems that we have some nice layout presentation for this beginning of the year, which is really good! Your piece of downtown is lovely done. The overall look catch the eyes, with nice details put eveywhere (a Super Mario mushroom tag!). You have put enought street accessories as benches, streetlights, trafficlights, and of course nice trees, which I think are really important in streets. I will not complain about the lake of minifigures and cars, I know that it takes some time to put them in a funny and pleasant way. Maybe you will post some pics later with such add-on, I hope! My only minor complain is the black used for the sidewalk. But maybe it's because I don't like black that much. The LEGO black is really black and appears as a very harsh color, making the details using black pieces not that visible and a too strong contrast, which catches the eyes a little too much for my taste.

MOC: Completing my Pet Shop block

Nothing more to say than Wow! the way you have made the street is fantastic! The hillside aspect is very well done and not blocky using blocky LEGO bicks. It add a very nice touch of realism, without this flat syndrom of the majority of layout (as mine). Your builings are always great and they are well underlined with all this life in the street. And finally, you have made a decent wall to hide the structure. And that gives the final touch, making your street really clean and finished! So, I confirm, nothing more to say than Wow!

    Attack of the Aliens!

What can I say more than the other done? I'm not a Space fan, but I have to admit that TLC has made a very great job with this Alien conquest line. I really like the design of the Alien. They are the only Alien that I like among the try of TLC. I really like the spirit of this line, with crazy aliens who come on Earth to conquest uor planet. It's really cartoony buy the design, the colours used and the overall design. Back in your great moc, which has all those aspect that I like in this line. The Mother version of those tiny and non so friendly little alien looks very very great. The rounded look is very well done. And particularely in this color, in which the choice of pieces is a little limited. The scene is very pleasant to look at and the faces used for the minifigs really capture this moment when you can't do anything before the invader! Just imagine, you're walking down the street, wanting to be quiet at home after a hard day at work. And this big alien comes from the sky, cracking down the road (nice effect!). Grr, I would'nt be one of those poor figs. But it seems that girls had less luck in your vig! Just a question, doesn the mother put of her children before eating us?
  5. I'm not a Technic expert neither a Mindstorm one, but it seems that you have passed some times to make this outstanding MOC! The design of the vehicle is very well done and clever. It's great to see a Technic moc with a more standard System look, it works very well. And last but not least, the NXT controler! Wow! I have recently tried a Mindstorm set, and I have to admit that it's not that easy to master. I am not familiar with informatic codes, so I used the LEGO Mindstrom software. And it's not that easy! I've spend about 10h to make a 9V train layout controled with one NXT. So making such a command for your Demag just blows me! It really gives us to "play" with your creation!

    Corner town house

Great house! I really like how you made the corner section, with the round bow window on the street flour, and the balcony on the first floor. The decoration below the roof used simple pieces but it's just so wonderfull! And of course, we can't pass on the furniture. The interior of your house is absolutely beautifull and very well executed. If I were a minifig, it doesn't bother me to live here, on the contrary! The only thing that I would have added is some plants or flowers somewhere, on the windows.

    MegaMOC 2011

What a great layout! There are so many things to look at! All those street scenes make your layout alive. All your vehicules look so nice, they are very well done and look like the real one, and in such a small scale, great job! I like the statue of the chief in the garden of your town hall ! Your Esso station is excellent! Nothing more to say about it. The color scheme is really Esso and the design vey nice and sleek. It's one of the best LEGO gaz station than I have ever seen!
  8. Glad to see the Minifigs series 6 reviewed by you Whitefang! As always, it's a pleasure to read you and to see those pics that you share with us. Your review makes me impatient to have my own 6th serie of those lovely minifigs (already bought!). I will wait to have them in my hands to make a jugement aout which is my favourite, but I really like the genius, the paramedic and the roman soldier. And of course the tired man with its bear. And just for the hisorical apect, the major part of the steel used to build the statue of liberty, and Eiffel tower, comes from the area where I live. One of my aunte even has an entrance of one of those old mine.

    MOC: Dutch Irish Pub

Great modular building! Your MOC has a really tiny look, I really like it! The color scheme is very nice : the dark green with the yellow strips work very well. The white sections from the roof add a nice contraste with the brown of the wall and the black of the roof. The porch section is very well too. I would like to be a minifig and go under it when it rains and to discover all the sides of this cossy house! The road section to go to this porch is well done, with the different of level with the regular sidewalk. And you have some great details inside! And that adds a lot! Great work! You have a nice layout with all your other modulars!

    MOC : Irish pub

Thanks for the comments ! All those dark orange pieces come from the 4728 Escape from Privet Drive Harry Potter set and from Pick a Brick in Legoland Germany. I was really pleased to find those bricks in this colors. My only regret, I don't pick them enought... Blue tiles ? Do you mean blue windows ? They come from 4840 The burrow. I'm always open to read some suggestions about creations, it could only make them better. L@go, you're right with the 1x4 tan tile underneath the windows. The shutter tabs are not really a problem, I can put them inside. The matter is that I don't have enough tan tiles now, so I prefer to keep them for a better usage than making some good back buildings, which are not so many visible. For the brown studs, I will try to put some tiles, I think you're right too for this point. And finally the roof... The section that I'm not happy with... Seeing the pictures that I have taken, I know that I need to work on it, it needs some improvements. I just have to wok on those points now!

    Residential House

Great work here! It's nice to see a moc and its real inspiration! The colour scheme is unusual, but it works very well. Looking at the picture of the real building you have captured the spirit and the general look more than very well. Once again, great work! I'm impatient to see your future lego town now!

MOC : art nouveau and modern modular buildings

Thanks for the feedbacks! And thanks Sonicstarlight to have blogged it in BTT, what an honor! Sorry Pagan, but I don't understand what you're asking here... I know that I have a lot of work in furnituring my modular MOCs... It will take me some times, but I want to do so!

    Rue de la Gare

How can I missed this awsone street scene? I particularly like the house with the tower, very nice use of roof bricks, that works very well, with its great roof! I like original roof elements... You add some nice features in the street that makes us want to be a minifig, like the nice coffee, the orgue of barbaria (nicely done!) and your awsone cars! The more I see this 2cv, the more I need to build one to put in my street, if I can copy your creation?... And I confirm, we have some british booths here here France. There was one in my town few years ago, but now they put it off, like a lot of other more french booths (which don't have any particular design...). It was fun to see such a booth in a french city. A lot of people, as I did, takes a picture above it to make their friends or family believe that they went to London!

MOC : art nouveau and modern modular buildings

Thanks for all the great comments! I have a look at your gallery. And in fact, it's not impossible to put some stairs in such a small house. I will take some inspiration from your very well detailed interiors!

MOC : brown and grey modular buildings

Yes it is! No, those windows come from the old worldcity train station. I have put the stickers on during those old days, and I don't put them of here... Thanks to remind me that I need to do so!

MOC : brown and grey modular buildings

Thanks for your nice comment! I have already thought to make the grey building a corner one before, but I don't know if the result will be that great. I mean, I prefer to make it a front house than a corner house like Café Corner for exemple. this 90° angle will not suit it that much, not more than a front building as I have made. Making a corner version like the real one would be great, but with this angle, it can't be integrated in a layout with other modular buildings. I have made some minor modifications on this moc, but for me they are welcomed. I have changed the grey windows with some tan windows to have the same colours in the tan section. I have also put some rounded pieces on top of the grey windows, instead of the 1x4 tan tiles. This "iner" section looks more sleak, but also more sculpted. And we have a kind of echo to the studs from the balconies. That's all!

    MOC: Rural Train Station

What a pleasure to see the pictures of this MOC! You've done a very great job! Like the other, I really like the classic feeling of this train station, but updated with more actual bricks and colors (2x3 windows, dark blue roof, tan and dark tan elements, selection of classic mixed with modern minifigs parts...). The design is quite simple but really effective with some nice details here and there, like the grey downspouts for raining water, the flower pots, the great street lamps... No back, nice furniture, great playability. The addition of the light bricks add a nice touch, giving a more alive feeling in the dark. And last but not least, the modular aspect : The concept of having 3 modules that you can put like you want and change the look of the station is a really great idea and very well executed here. Seeing your work on this aspect, I don't see why TLC doesn't apply more often this concept of modularity in their production (which can be apply in City and Castle line, adding a more “collect all the sets of the line”). Now, the only thing we have to do is to wait our trains in this lovely Station!

    MOC: town house

Great house for a first try in modular builiding scale! I like to see some brick built versions of real houses. It's always funny to see how people capture the style, choose the details to put in. You have made a great work here. But I have just a small comment about the colours used, compared to the picture : why do you used some light grey bricks and no tan bricks? Maybe the use of the tan colours will make the caramel bricks more "expansive". Just my thought. By the way, you've made a great job.

    More classic cars...

Great! You have made some very nice cars! The 2CV looks really great. The Ford Capri looks also very nice, with its sleek design! You capture very well the feeling of those vehicules! I probably take some inspiration of your models to build one or two cars to put on the street of my layout!

    MOC: The JALKOW collection 2.

You have made a very nice work! The presentation is really excellent with this ikea catalogue style! But it's not just the presentation. The furnitures look great too. It's a good source of inspiration for me, who have some work to make some interiors to my mocs... Good work, truly!

MOC : brown and grey modular buildings

I permit you and others to do so, no problem on that! Have you seen the “new” Place de Jaude after all the works that have been done to receive the tram “Fleur de lave”? I like the variety in towns, like in Clermont or in Nancy (where I lived). It reflects the history of the city and its evolution over time (Middle adge houses, Renaissance, post-war style, art nouveau, pop art, modern architecture...). I like this heterogeneity, making the streets less boring, with some nice details to discover for those who take the time to observe their environ. Building in a modern style is not that easy with LEGO. It's a little paradoxical because we can think that with smooth and square bricks, it's easy to make modern buidling, which are smooth and squarish. But in fact, it's not the fact. The LEGO bricks gives a kind of heaviness to the architecture. For the different architecture, I like to have a great stand alone building but I imagine it in its street, with its neighbors. I go down the real street to see how it's done in our world and try to apply it in the LEGO world. I try to understand what make people not being chocked or surprised when they walk down the street with all its heterogeneity. It's not that easy to explain in english, sorry. And I stop here, I will be boring! I hope that you will let you see your building with this similar idea! Thanks for your suggestion, I will take it into account, but if you have some pictures or other illustrations, don't hesitate to send them. So, thanks for all the great comments, they make me glad! And thanks for blogged my moc in Classic Town, Brick-town-talk and frontpaged it in EB!

    MOC : yellow modular building

Nothing really news, I just put some very small modification to my Yellow house. Old : New : I just put more grey bricks on each sides to make them more beautifull and more finished. I know that the sides will not be visible when other modular buildings will be put aside, but I like to have a building which looks great alone...
  24. I think that your're right here. When you ask people to describe what minifigs they would like to see, they come with stereotype kind of figs. As examples, just take a look here : In this post, Tanotrooper has drawn a musketeer minifig. And we have one in series 4, which is closer to this draw. In this post, I have drawn a scientist, which appears in series 4, and looks like the draw too : same hair, with glasses, the flask, the white blouse. I don't think that TLC takes our draws and makes them come true. We have the same vision of what a musketeer or a mad scientist looks like. But it's really funny to see that those stereotypes of typical minifigures are universal.

    Pizza Corner

What to say appart wahou! Your pizza corner is very nice! I like the use of different coloured slopes for the roof, the way you used 2x1 bricks for chimney, the contrast between the ground floor and the others, the trees with their protections. And if it was not sufficient, you have put two great cars (is the white one a Citroën DS?) and an awsome tram! It's a really beautiful alive street scene in which I would be happy to walk down!
