  1. So, I’m glad to share with you another step pf my town layout story. This time, it’s not about houses, but street sections. After spending a lot of time on my buildings, I decided to take a moment on the streets. In fact, a city couldn’t be a great city without public furniture, flowers and roads ! In 2009, remember, I have already work on the pavement of my street. In fact, I don’t like how TLC made the pavements in the modular buildings line. And with LEGO, you can change what you don’t like ! So I have found a module, that used upside-down gives a more random look, even if it’s a regular module : But with all the modulars I have, with the official ones and my owns, I need a lot of straight road. And damned, TLC send only one straight with a crossed one. Damned, I will have a lot of crossed road, without any utility. So, some straight roads, I hurt my fingers with all of those dark grey tiles to put on ! Hopefully, I have some 1x2 plates to put too, and 2x2 tile with one centered stud. In fact, I want to have some modular road plates, with which you can put some street furniture and so on, without any effort. The 1x2 plates on each sides are here to attache the road sections between them, with a street lamp for example. And the other studs can fix flowers, garbage, fire hydrant and so on. The result of the street sections is for a crossed one : And for a straight one : After that, I worked on bus station, which need to be not too big and not too small to feet in the street. After some works and tries, I came up this this bus stop : I also made some garbage : Fire hydrants, simple but enough effective for me (some times, simplicity is your best friend!) : I need to put some touch of green in my town. Those flowerpot will help a little : Like those other flowers sections, in two kind of colors, for more diversity : Seeing the Gostbuster headquarters, I find the traffic light great and effective. So, I decided to duplicate it. I just add some flowers for a greener street and that’s all ! And without forgetting some traffic lights for pedestrians and other road signs : I also need some benches, and find a nice way to make them one day on a picture of a moc (don’t remember the source…), so I decided to reproduce them, Now, my minifigs can sit and have a quiet moment ! And I have enough white street lamps to fix all my road plates together. But I fall in love with a black version, from New Elementary, and couldn’t resist to reproduce them as well. Don’t you find them beautiful ? Just note that the base of the street lamp ha changed, with only 4 notches instead of the 6 for the older version, making it less beautiful IMO. And what a street without some trees? TLC never bring me some decent beautiful trees. It’s not that easy to make some nice ones, enough sturdy with a nice look. I have made some tries some years ago, remember, with those kind of trees : Time has past and TLC bring us a so wonderful part, like the new stalk piece ref 19119. Maybe it’s one of my favorite new part from 2015! So I tried to use this, and made a lot of versions. In fact, I wanted to build a tree that is enough sturdy, without small parts falling down (even if we are in autumn ^^!). And I’m quite happy with the result! Now it’s time to show you how all those elements go together. I have taken some pics to do so. Just note that I don’t have put some corner buildings just only because I don’t take the time to find them in my boxes. Firstly, some pics with one of all the element presented above : And finally, some pics with a touche of life, with some minifigs and cars, just to see how it looks in situation : So, this is just 1/3 of all my road plates I have made this way. We can image to have some other element to put in the street, like newspaper boxes, little food stands, a phone box and more ! Just let your imagination works ! I just hope that you enjoyed reading this long post! And you can discover some extra pics in my FlickR or Brickshelf galleries.
  2. Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunatly, I disasembled those trees to make some new ones. So I can"t take more pictures for you. I uses some standard leafs with brackets for the green structures. And after some flowers supports with a lot of green special round plates. Hope it will help.
  3. Hello, I try to finish the LEGO Vidiyo serie 2. I miss two figs, the pink bear and the singer with feathers. I can buy them or trade them with the two figs, the mermaid and the blue dragon.
  4. With all those new castle sets it’s time to see what classic castles are (nostalgia :-$ …). During my Christmas holidays, I’ve cleaned during six hours, bricks after bricks, two of my CC sets that I review here. Set ref. 6059 Name : Knight's Stronghold Year : 1990 Pieces : 221 Minifigs : 5 and 1 horse Weapons : 2 swords, 1 battleaxe, 2 crossbows and 1 spear, 3 shields This set is my first Black Knights set. It’s a door with two walls on each side that you can open as you want with the hinges. We have 3 black guards (sorry for my bad castle vocabulary in English). Just notice that they are totally red dressed. We have also a falcon knight, one henchman and a catapult. Here the front: Here the back: We find a prison to shut away the bad Falcons: But they can destroy the door with their catapult: For the anecdote, I just discover how to use this catapult! Because, when I was a child, I put two technic bushes to the axle. But one of it was an extra part. And with only one, you just have to draw off the axle and it fire by itself! 8-| So stupid I was! :-$ This set has one spin and a technic brick that permit to connect with other sets, like… Set ref. 6085 Name: Black Monarch’s Castle Year: 1989 Pieces: 665 Minifigs: 12 and 4 horses Weapons: 6 swords, 4 battleaxes, 2 crossbows, 2 bows, 3 spears, 10 shields First, you have to know that it was my first so big set. I can’t remember how old I was (6-7) when I had it, but I was younger than the indicated age on the box. I bought it with some Christmas money (certainly a lot for a young boy). I can remember when I opened the box. There were so many pieces, I can’t believe my eyes! :'-) It took me several hours to build this castle (maybe as many times as cleaning it). So, just let you discover it. We have 8 guards, it’s a lot nowadays! They aren’t all red, but blue/red or red/blue dressed, depend on the kind of guards. And with those guards, we have 4 knights with one horse for each. I think that the black knight is the king of this castle, the second one would be the one with the white horse because it has a horsewear too (I don’t know the correct word, even in French!) and the two other classic knights. The castle now has a big central part, which integrated the drawbridge and a portcullis entirely made with plate bricks. You can open/close, up/down them with strings, like you can see here: Here another view And here the back where we can see the two towers in the corners. This castle can be opened with the hinges pieces, so you can modulate it as you want. Instead of having a square castle, you can have a long one, a real good point for the playability. Here it’s the inside of the castle. There is any detail of life, just a prison under one of the tower. One good thing is that, like I said before, you can connect other sets with technic spins, making your castle bigger and more beautiful, like here: And here from the back: In conclusion, this castle is a real classic set: big, beautiful, a lot of minifigs, a good concept of spin-connection. But we can deplore the lake of details in the castle. It were great if TLC would have made more additional parts, like the guarded inn set ref. 6067. And for people who find that the one-piece wall is a juniorisezed one, those two CC sets have got 19 right panels and 10 corner panels… This set (I know they are 2 in real, but one for me, cause I had one, and the second just few weeks, I was really spoiled this year *sweet* ) is one of my favourite. It reminds me a lot of memories from my childhood, and all those LEGO periods, so nice… Anyway. TLC had succeeded with me, making me having the two sets just for the bigger castle, like it was shown in the catalogue. But it’s without any regerts! *wub*

    My city story

Layout Here it is my city story. I have already told it in my presentation topic, but here it is better to show the evolution of my town : ___________________________________________ The beginning (see below) My first roads: (see below) The non independent period (see below) The arrival of the trains (see below) In 2007-2008, a new layout is coming In 2009-2010, the expension of my layout 2011 the rebirth, in modular size ___________________________________________ Modular building n°01 Modular building n°02 Modular building n°03 Modular building n°04 Inside my Café Corner Modular street and furniture 2021 diorama ___________________________________________ The beginning: Far, far away, with my city sets and an extra large grey base plate, I decided to make a small town centre. But I have no pics of this period. My first roads: But the extra large base plate didn't give my town a town look, so I decided to buy some roads. You can see the pic below. The non independent period: My collection grew up, like for my small brother, who wants to do like me (he bought some other city sets and roads too). He lent me his roads to make my town bigger. The arrival of the trains: But I would have my independence, so I decided to buy some new roads, even if they had changed. It was also the time for me to show some city sets that I never put in my town, like my police centre or the ResQ one. And when I discovered that TLC would sell a new train line, I decided to buy it! In fact, I remembered that I always want a train, but my father didn't because he has trains but not in LEGO, so he didn't see the interest to have a LEGO one if I could play with his train. But I was major (hey I became a city Afol!) when the new line came out, so all the sets have been bought (green and with ICE, green cargo train, the crane, the train station, the crossroad, the big garage and some tracks.). My city was bigger than ever! Here a map of the city of this period. I organise my city with a town centre in the train tracks, and the suburb out, with the security area. In 2004: After, I continued to buy some sets for my town. I made some houses that I destroyed regularly to build new ones. And I discovered the LEGO web community with all those so beautiful city with awesome buildings! But they don't have the same spirit than mine. In fact, I would give my town a LEGO spirit, with building which respect the minifigs scales and not the human scales, with its default, like no upstairs to go to the upper floor. I would like a city like we can see in the 80's lists. Each year, I change my LEGO unofficial houses, added some new roads and the city sets of the year Here a general view of my city in 2004. The rest of the pics are here. In 2005: Here a general view of my town in 2005, with new sets like the fire fighters. The rest of the pics are here. In 2006, my town is still growing : These year, all the new city sets are in my town, except to the new airport, because the planes are oversized for me. I decided to buy some new tracks to make my train bigger and introduce the new cargo train with an "old" 9V motor, which will come very soon! I decided to buy sets like Arkam Asilum and the tunner garage to integrate them after some modification. For this year, I try to work on the well integration of all the elements and particularly the road parts. I didn't want some roads opened on nothing, I would have a closed layout, which you can see here: With the time and the fact to build, break and rebuild houses, and with some new ideas seen on the web, my houses are more "adult": more realists, with more details like those big beautiful ones seen on Brickshelf, but with the LEGO spirit. For the houses which are in the suburb, I take my inspiration on the old houses, it gives to my town an authentic LEGO touch. This is what I think and what I hope to have and show with my city. And for the centre houses, I want them to be bigger with more detailed frontages. I make the park bigger too, and a central places with sites for the pedestrians. I try to work on some details like fountains and the inside of the houses, and made my first modern building just behind the train station. This city gives me a real satisfaction result. Here a general view of my town in 2006. The rest of the pics are here. I really wanted to take more pics to show the mini scenery I created and the houses indoor, but I made my town in my garage, so I didn't have enough light to take some good pics. But I'm working on a system to have more light, for my 2007 city pics with, I hope some new good sets.

    My city story

Hello ! I’m back here to share with you some new pics of my city diorama. With covid and the fact that we can’t have some guests at home, I decided to use the table of the dinning room as display for my city. I can’t remembered the last time I took it out of boxes, with cars, furnitures and cityzens with urban life. Even if my table is relatively big, it is not enought to put all my modulars on. So I have to make some choices, and decided to put all my creations first and official ones in a second time. After that choice, I try to mixt them to have some nice arengement in therme of architecture and colours, making this mess pleasant to look at. It was time tu put the roads and start to make it alive. And this was the first time that I put my new street furnitures down the street. In fact, I have made a quick review of my street furnitures the past, but I have made a lot of modifications, making those details more frenchy (parisian). Here a picture of those items : I put some cars, some cityzens, few urban animals, made some all-day life scenes everywhere... So, few hours later, my city is readdy to go ! Unfortunatlfy, the pictures are not as good as I want, because of bad lightening (not big sunshine during winter here I lived…). Here a general view to see the size : And here some other views : And here the whole gallery for more ^^.
  7. I can't remembered the last time I have created a new topic here. Even if I'm not posting a lot on EB, I'm still here and into LEGO and particularely into modular buildings. So here I will show you some pics of my latest creation. This modular is inspired by a "art nouveau" house from my city, thta I really love, the Villa Majorelle. I have sceduled to make a LEGO version of it from a very long time, but didn't take the time to do so. The last period of pandemic gave me the opportinuty to spend time with my beloved bricks. So good to moc again! What a challenge that villa was! Making art nouveau with LEGO bricks is not easy, but I like challenges. And this house is very special, with so many details everywhere. So I tried to capture its spirit in a modula buidling that can be insered in my layout (I have made some compromises). Here we go for few pictures : And finally, a picture showing the villa in a layout :
  8. Thanks! I'm always here, but not so active in topics and I don't have as many times as before to build as I would like ^^. Yes, I like to give some space for pedestrian mminifigures ^^ . So, there are some spaces for furnutures, doing some micro stories, and have a better view of buildings.
  9. So, after some tries and tries, I think I have finalised my city furnitures. Good by grey square style ad welcome more parisian style for all : It lakes some parts in black (bus station, pedestrian lights), but the spirit is here.
  10. Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!
  11. Hey! During this time at home because of Covid19, I have decided to create and to change my bus stop. My first version looks too big and bulky and would like something thinner. So, after 2 days working on it, I came up with two prototypes : all the pieces are not in the write color for now, I need to buy extra pieces. But before doing that, I want to share them with you to have some feedback : what is your favorite version? What do you like or note, how to improve it? First, some pictures with the 3 iterations. The first version is the white one. And now, a closer look at one prototype : And the last prototype :
  12. I've got mine yesterday ^^. Thanks a lot @CopMike for the raffle, organisation, and the manatees!
  13. Thanks a lot for Copmik and this funny contest !
  14. I juste need to buy my christmas tree to put my santas in !
  15. Glad to help you. Just tell me if you need more ^^
  16. Hello, Here's a picture t show you how the trees are mad. Like Vindicare said, I use some 5 prong flower stem piece & 1x1 snot bricks (a lot of them for one tree!) on big foliages. You will see how those foliages are attached. Each face of tree is made by twi big foliage, and only one on top. Everything is legal here and doesn't move, it's quite sturdy. Hope that will help you ^^

    Making Eurobricks More Active

I'm find and still here event if I'm not as active as before. So I will answer the questions asked : Would you like to see more contests? Yes, evenif I don't have all the time I want to enter those contest. What is your opinion of Tags (those small images on the left <---)? Don't have any opinion about them. Do you use, if ever, Eurobricks reference materials (ie. lists of Reviews, lists of MOCS, lists of Forums)? Lists of review is very usefull. And alsow lists of MOCS, if they are from good quality. Have you participated in games on Eurobricks (ie. Role-Playing, Mafia, etc.)? I have participated to one game like that, and it wad funny. Do you use/visit the Eurobricks Facebook page? Eurobricks on Flickr? etc. No facebook for me at all. Flickr not too. I don't like social app like that. Do you post MOCs online? What hosting platform do you prefer to use? I still use Brickshelf, old style! Do you prefer broadly defined threads or multiple specialized threads? multiple specialized threads What is the first page you visit when opening Eurobricks on your browser? The index page Personnaly, I have less time to go on EB. I was more active when I was student. And all the people with wich I speak here seem to be in the same situation. So, I don't know the newer member. And with the smartphone and all those apps, It seems that the discussions in general are not as constructive than before. Maybe it's just an impression. And last, because I don't come often here, I don't write in english, and I lost a lot in that. It's harder for me to think abour how to write properly. All in all, I'm still an EB lover, where I discovered the LEGO online univer, other AFOLS, during my study, when I didn't have my real bricks with me!^^ I'm still mocing my town, with some inspiration moment and other period without envy to MOC. I often think about posting some new pics to share my work, but I don't have the time to take pictures, host them and post. Or maybe I don't take the time to do so... I know I have to, but I have so many things to do aside...

Thank a lot Copmike for this prize!
  21. Thanks for this detailed review! This series is not my favourite one, even if there are some nice figs. I don't find a general cfeeling about those figs, some are in the costume theme, when some other are not really. By the way, I really like the new mouse, which looks really cute!

  24. Thanks for this review! I find this serie funny and cool, and great for a city fan too : - Those bowls and spoons are so great - nice new hairepices and recolour - new "clothes" with scarf and hoodie What can we want more? And this serie is a good way to have the fish gear in a cheep way, so I like it! And the octopus one is so great too, by its own. The Npop girl is definitevly my favorite fig from this serie! I'm an Unikitty fan... It's funny to see that LEGO has made a technology update on the stereo player ^^! Whitefang, do you have the Harry Potter shark head, it's missing on your shark family picture Thanks for this great job!
  25. Not so far away, the world was divided in two, between Zombies and Minifigures, each tribe with its one rules, its own cultures and traditions. Zombies lived together in some quiet, peaceful and comfortable towns. They were very respectful of the other Zombies, independently of their zombie appearance, origin or color. Contrary to them, the Minifigures grown with the vision of a one colored world : in yellow! They don't have any rules and hated this wonderful and cute Zombie-land so much that one day, they tried to go to fight them. Poor Zombies, it seems this is the end of your quiet life! Never trust Minifigure, they are treacherous and will make you out be the baddies of the story... And here the link of the gallery for all the pictures.
