Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion

That's a good point for Malcolm's skin tone, although I feel it's still going to stand out a little too much compared to the other characters we already got. I'm still somewhat hopeful for more JP sets next year but the chances are very slim indeed. A Jeep Wrangler set would have been amazing. As minifigs, we could get an injured Malcolm and Ellie and Muldoon with the yellow raincoats (although I would prefer a regular version for Muldoon). They could even throw in 1 or 2 additional minifigs like Hammond, wouldn't be the first time they include a minifig that isn't exactly in the scene but still somewhat relevant.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

Definite buy for that set. I didn't buy set 4737 (Quidditch Match) when it came out and by the time I was finally ready to get it, it was going for an insane price on Bricklink so I never got a Prof. Hooch minifig. Same thing with Umbridge, although I despise the character (like I think everyone else does), it's still a welcome addition. I absolutely love the fact we're getting a Slughorn minifig, the character was really missing from the original waves of Harry Potter sets. Not so crazy about the Snape-boggart though, that's the second minifig we get of that and it's way more representation than what that particular scene deserves imo. It's well-made but still a wasted spot. I'd rather have had a generic death eater instead or a new Bellatrix.

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion

I'm on the fence about this pack. While I like the fact we're getting Malcolm, I think they overdid the tan a little. I realize Jeff Goldblum does have a tanned skin but it doesn't translate all that well in the minifig since there aren't that many shades available for flesh tones and this one makes him look Asian... not to mention they didn't do it for his Grandmaster minifig in the Thor Ragnarok set. As for the baby Blue and her chicken leg (really guys??), let's be honest, that is a bit of a rip-off. It's cute and all but that little dino is already available in 2 other sets and a polybag and isn't worth as much as an actual minifig. That Owen does seem a bit unnecessary too, we've already gotten 3 versions of the character and I don't think we really needed another one. I think it would have been a good opportunity to get Lowery or Simon Masrani in his suit. I'm still gonna get this set for Malcolm alone but it could have been so much better. There are so many characters they could have picked like Hammond, Muldoon, Nedry, Ray Arnold, young Dr. Wu or even an unnamed Jurassic Park employee... all of those would have been better options than yet another baby dino. It was the perfect opportunity to get some of the missing main characters and unless we get more JP sets next year it's a bit of a waste.
  4. I was really curious to see what they were gonna do with the conveyex, like it was said before it's a nightmare for designers. I was even expecting to see something like the Constitution Train set from The Lone Ranger and maybe another speeder bike with a gang member thrown in. But I suppose this is a better (and less expensive) option, although a monorail without a rail is a bit weird. I kinda like the hauler but this minifig selection is the weirdest... but I suppose Lego based that on the info they got before all the reshoots. I just wish we had 2 mudtroopers instead of 2 helmetless enforcers. Aside maybe for Dryden's office thing, they have most of the important scenes covered now. They could still release a Dryden minifig in a polybag (would be sad if we got the unnecessary mud-covered Solo but not the main bad guy) but that's really too bad there's no Mimban battlepack.
  5. I'm pretty sure I saw a leaked picture of one of Dryden's enforcers while looking for pics on Google (I think it came from Reddit). If they have one of those, I can't imagine they won't include the main baddie in whatever set the enforcer will be.
  6. I thought people already assumed that would be the conveyex driver/gunner and it was based on a concept art (on the right in the following pic). I do hope I'm wrong because I'd be interested in a Mimban set.

    Subnautica

I love the design of the smaller vehicles. I think they would work well as Lego sets, they kinda remind me of the Aqua Raiders sets. If they don't get this license, I sure hope the next underwater theme does something similar.

    Future Star Wars Minifigs

Only minifigs I'd want from Solo are the Mudtrooper (of course!) and an imperial officer in a trenchcoat. Maybe one of Vos' enforcers would look cool in Lego form too. As for the other movies, I'd love to see: - Admiral Piett - Zuckuss - Nien Nunb - ESB Lando - Chancellor Palpatine (maybe updated with the new "skirt" piece) - Darth Sidious (Yoda duel) - Saesee Tiin (new updated torso) - Commander Bacara - Galactic Marine - RotS Commander Cody - TCW Ahsoka Tano (realistic, both versions) - TCW Captain Rex (realistic, both versions) - Noghri Warrior Also a bunch of old EU characters like Mara Jade or Darth Nihilus but that's not likely to happen...

    Future Star Wars Sets

This please, this minifig selection is exactly what I imagined one of the future Solo sets to be. Would probably add a couple of enforcers in that set too.

Do you buy toys other than LEGO?

I used to buy a lot of action figures (mostly Hasbro Star Wars and some GI Joe) but slowed down considerably a few years ago when their main 3.75" Star Wars line dropped down in quality. I'd also rather spend my money on LEGO sets nowadays, although I still occasionally buy some figures of the characters I really like. I've also bought some toy cars (Hot Wheels, Matchbox), mostly licensed stuff like Ghostbusters or Batman, but I don't own that many of them... one of the good things about them though is they are pretty cheap compared to most other toys.

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion

The interior looks pretty cramped up, which was to be expected based on how narrow the building looked from the front. Both sides of the building don't seem to serve any purpose aside from making the whole thing look bigger from the outside and add to the piece count. While it certainly doesn't look bad I don't think it's something I wanna buy. I think I'll just get the Indoraptor on BL, that thing looks mean. Oh and those of us who wanted an angry Conan O'Brien minifig will be delighted...

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion

A bit late to the party and this has probably been discussed over a dozen times already but I just wanna give my 2 cents on the new sets anyway. Those are just not very good, let's be honest. I was under the impression the production for the sets of the first movie was rushed because they got the license rather late (I think they got it from Kre-O/Hasbro if memory serves me well) and I thought they'd take more time and just do a better job with this new wave. Well, seems like I was wrong. 75926: Very simple and rather ugly vehicle with a lot of wasted space for the driver. I thought it was another Juniors set when I first saw the pic. You can find much better vehicle designs in the City line. 75927: Very reminiscent of set #75920. I kinda like the new colour scheme, the grey/dark blue looks less toyish than the original white/bright blue. Nice to get a new dino too. I'd say it's one of the most decent sets despite how simple it seems to be. 75928: A rather plain-looking helicopter which very much looks like it comes straight from a City Police set. Also the build around the rotor seems a bit messy for my taste. It also seems that neither the minifigs nor the dino are exclusive to this set, which pretty much makes it an easy pass for most people I fear. 75929: Seems like a very lazy reuse of the build from set #75917 with very minor changes and different colours. The only appeal for those who already own that set seems to be the dino and maybe the minifigs. 75930: This one seems to be where all the efforts went (although we still need to see what's inside it). I can also easily see people picking it up to make their own Wayne manor or X-men mansion. The minifig selection does seem a bit plain (the exclusive ones are basically a little girl and 2 guys in a suit) but I suppose we need to see the movie first to decide if those characters are interesting or not. The new hybrid is scary-looking and does add to the value of this set. Also, maybe that's already the case but I guess LEGO is gonna get in trouble again for showing too much in their sets before the movie gets released... All in all, it's a pretty weak wave and I feel like they're mostly using the dinos to sell very average sets. I'm tempted to get the dinos I want from BL and possibly use modified vehicles from the City theme... Edit: Just saw the inside of the mansion on the previous page, can't say I'm really impressed. :/
  13. You can't put it against a wall or you won't be able to open it completely. As Aegis suggested, it has to do with how the building opens up. I guess the designer had to choose between either saving the outside or the inside.
  14. It's not that bad, it's probably the best option there is. Janine did have a short boyish haircut in the 1st movie But if you want other ideas, the only pieces I can think of are Anakin's hair from Ep. III or this: http://brickset.com/sets/containing-part-6065515
  15. There's just no other way to do it without making the building even bigger or the car smaller.
  16. It looks like you'll have to remove everything, including Venkman's office. Well that was to be expected. They do, look at the pic on page 32.
  17. Oh, that's nice. Damn, where am I going to store this giant thing?
  18. The interior looks pretty darn good to me, so many great details. I love how we even get the dark room from GB2, never thought we'd see that. The only things I would have changed is (like many have said) the number of stickers and the kitchen, which doesn't really look like that in the movie. It's understandable though because once you've added the table and the chairs, there isn't a lot of space left in the room for a lot of other stuff. It's pretty cool to see that even the stove made it to the final product, great attention to details. You could use Jor-El's head or one of the Lake-town guards'. Episode II and III Obi-Wans could maybe work too I guess. As for the body, I'd probably go with president Business or one of the regular Lego city suits. But I see 3 different faces: 1 normal one, 1 with a strap for the helmet-thing and 1 with red eyes which appeared on the original picture.

    MOC - Peter Parker's bathroom

Well I guess this is going to end badly for that comic. Great vignette, I especially like how you built the rug and the shower. Pretty clever.

    REVIEW: 79018 The Lonely Mountain

Thanks for the great detailed review, WhiteFang. I just got this set last week and I must say I'm really impressed with Smaug. Fortunately I was able to find it for a really good price. I've seen a lot of online stores already selling it for > €200 and even > €300... It really is overpriced but keep in mind Smaug is exclusive to this set and required a lot of large new pieces. The minifigs are all exclusives too. Still, I guess a price around $100-110 would have been more appropriate.
  21. Yeah and it's never mentioned anywhere and that version has never been seen again as far as I know. It really surprised me when I noticed it. Yes, the dark orange bricks would have worked well too. The contrast with the gray parts would probably look a little less stark too, making it a little less cartoony. I must say I'm confused too, it does look a little clear for it to be dark red but maybe that's due to the lighting.
  22. Yeah, that's what I thought and I guess that was the best decision. That's also pretty much how it appears in the video game if I remember correctly. Nope, they repainted it in black after they bought it. It's very subtle but you can see it if you pay attention when the cops hand Louis over to Egon or when the containment unit blows up. I guess most people never noticed it, especially since it's red/orange again in the second film. (3:02 minute mark) True but neither do the library ghost or the possessed Dana.
  23. A bit late to the party but I was blown away when I first discovered they were making a GB firehouse. Never thought they'd greenlight such a big set for this franchise but I'm so glad they did. I can't wait to see pics of the inside. The minifig selection is pretty good, although I wish they made a Gozer minifig instead of the Zombie cab driver. It would also have been nice to have the ghostbusters in their dark gray GB2 jumpsuits or maybe in civilian clothes, but hey, at least we get printed arms with these. It's a bit weird though to see that no minifigs are based on the second movie despite the fact this looks more like the GB2 firehouse (red walls instead of black ones, pink slime). Anyways, my two main concerns now are the price and all the space I'll have to make for it.
  24. Oops, sorry about that. Well I still talked about LEGO sets in the end... kinda.
