    MOC: chinese restaurant

very nice job! but actually, the ground floor can really looks like a chinese restaurant, but for the remaining part of the building, it reminds me to a more victorian english house! anyway, all the moc has great details and, as others pointed out, it's too bad we cannot see if it has an interior. have a nice lego day mrBlue

    MOC: Type III Ambulance

very nice ambulance! should really find bricks and time to steal your design anyway, I also used that design about one year ago for my rio grande train and that time, I took the doors idea from someone else's train, but I don't really know who was the first who used it. that is a very good way to make a realistic sort of "sliding" doors, especially on bus (it's strange that tlc didn't use it yet) have a nice lego day mrblue

    Being Disloyal to LEGO Trains

well... I have been for a long while into N scale trains and I also built with my dad (that time I was still young) a small layout, something in the range of 1 meter-something by 1.5 meter-something. yes, I know it's a small size, but in N scale we have been able to make a double loop with a small switching yard with a train shed and a hidden resting track on this mountain layout. as with lego, I had (and still have) more trains than the one the layout can accept! I have always been into trains, lego and not, but in those years, space was not that much (not that now is much more though) to allow a big stable lego layout. maybe before the end of this year we'll have chance to move house, and my 7x6 meters lego room will be now big enough for my big layout! but I'll bring with me, the N scale too, it's still part of my childhood and a good memory! have a nice lego/HO/N train day mrBlue

    Kids and Trains

... and for the scratched once-pristine sfsc coaches there is still your mastercard! this would surely be the best credit card ad of the last years! anyway this "novel" is wonderful! right now I have only lego to play with, but I hope to be in your situation soon! have a nice lego day mrBlue

Rumor that PF Maybe Going Away

... you can do that with PF, but only 8x trains and/or switches. my layout can run 7 trains so I have 1 channel free to use in one of my 24 switches. PF for switches or level crossings is an option, not that good also, but for sure is not THE solution. have a nice train lego day mrBlue edit: spelling check

  7. well, I know someone, who got injured with model aircrafts, and is not a kid. accidents happen everyday and to everyone! my point is not that heli models are dangerous or company A have better lawyers than company B, I'm just saying that lego has never been into adult oriented toys like those we are talking about. ok, 14/16 years old people can (and they should know how to) play with this kind of toys, but how much would cost a lego heli tht can fly? with the same price you can buy many of the "classic" one. so: why should lego get into a path that has never been into? that involve also some techs that "can be" (not "are") dangerous if not used in the correct way? if I didn't get this topic in the wrong way, we are not talking about micro heli (like 10/20cm), but heli of the size of at least 60+ cm to be able to have some details like we are used with "standard" lego bricks. usually, it's better to prevent than to fix late, and can you imagine the impact to the mass of a news saying "kid injured playing with lego"? it reminds me of the movie ghostbusters, when the marsh mallow monster is evoked: and the sentence is "I thought about something of my childhood that couldn't hurt anyone". have a nice lego day mrBlue
  8. just my 2 cents: I have been a lot into technic, but left before dark age and when I came back, I got into trains and licensed themes. I don't think it's impossible to make a flying heli with lego, but the main point is would lego spend time and resources to make a project like this? I don't think so! the motors would be too much powerful to make a set like this called "not dangerous" for kids, and tlc, first of all, looks at the benefits that come from kfol. even in the train system, they switched from 12v to 9v electrified rails to a 9v batteries operated trains... this should make people think... have a nice lego day mrBlue

    MOC: Vehicular Funicular

very good! also considering that I have never seen anything like that made with lego! this will allow you to connect your layout to an upper shelf where you can put some houses or even a cabin log set, making a very interesting two floors layout! have a nice lego day mrBlue

    Looking for Train Sheds

you can search in brickshelf: there you'll find quite a lot of train sheds. I remember not long time ago, I've seen a nice one here built using the colours of the lego set log cabin, and I also have made a Mod of the original classic one, but using only bricks available (that time) at lego shop@home pab. have a nice train lego day mrBlue
  11. after getting out of dark age, I started to build with LDD and decided to order some bricks, but not from LDD program, I used the pick a brick from shop@home after realizing how much more expensive was the first option... then I discovered bricklink and at first was tempted by prices, but worried by buying from many stores which means many shipping costs as well... then after realizing how much wider is the choice in bricklink stores, I had no more doubts and now no more regrets. I still use shop@home pab, but only for few bricks that I should order from stores that have a minimum buy and far from my country, and since I need only them I have no other option. after you try bricklink, you'll never come back! have a nice lego day mrBlue

How Many Trains Do You Own?

you can check mine too in the signature. then you have to add my moc/mod: one small shunter, two maersk style, one santa fe style and one small steam, plus one more maersk I'm planning to buy. keep in mind I collect them since the blue era and mainly from 12v period. I missed all the 9v sets when they were on shelves, but I have been able to catch the misb sfsc and the bnsf locos! edit: oops, I forgot the hogwart express! have a nice train lego day mrBlue

Rumor that PF Maybe Going Away

PF in remote controlled switches is an option, but not a good one, at least not for bigger layouts! my layout plan has a total of 24 switches and can run 6 train simultaneously plus a couple more on the yard. so even if PF gets an option to use 50 channels, it means also 50 IR and 50 battery pack! if you use them all with AAA you get to 300 batteries !!! think about replace them... and don't forget that sometimes, switches are out of range or not in the line of sight. for the train control I agree it's a good system, suited for kids too, since it has no dangerous electric parts, but for other remote controlled options, like switches, level crossings, signals, that are mainly used in big layouts and operated (played) by afol, lego has to come out with a better solution, that obviously must be plugged to the power line with a target of 14+. have a nice train lego day mrBlue edit: spelling check

    [REVIEW] 7965 Millennium Falcon

ok, my vote goes to average... the set is not that bad, but maybe, since I already own a 4504 copy, I don't see the reason to make a new falcon, except to let the unlucky people who didn't buy the old one, to have the chance to buy the new one. minifigs are a good selection, even if I would have personally swapped Darth Vader for the two droids who match better in this set. the great addition of the lower cannon is imho the most interesting feature of this set and all those stickers are the most awful part... come on!!! even the 2x2 round tiles with grill are not printed !!! with a little effort, tlc could have made retractable landing gears and with a better interior, like separated rooms, this set could have been easily in my wish must-buy list. I have the same opinion for the slave-I and the AT-AT of this year, but I see only the fact that today, many people can put their hands on slightly better sets that haven't been on production for a long while. I consider this (and the other mentioned sets) like a "legend" edition. have a nice lego day mrBlue

Rumor that PF Maybe Going Away

I am personally wondering who may wants to control 8 trains at the same time! even in a big layout, running 8 trains at the same time and avoid collisions would be a big challenge! ok, you may have 10, 20, 50 PF trains parked, but you still can turn them on and off, and use those you need at the same time. kfol or afol, it still is lego, it still is a toy! I also think that PF is the good direction, but still need some extras! have a nice PF train lego day mrBlue edit: spelling check

Rumor that PF Maybe Going Away

anyway, the lack of remote controlled switches should make people think about something... I'm not saying that I think that lego is going to give up with PF, but for sure they are thinking about a way to improve what they have in production. right now, even if I still have to make my definitive layout, from what I have been able to test, I like PF like it is, but honestly I would like to see a more compact battery box and, of course, remote switches like in the golden 12v era. have a nice train lego day mrBlue

MOC: PC Shop, P.I., Artist, Bar, 8-bed Hotel

thank you to surprise us again with this beatiful moc! my favorite part is... all! full of many stealable wonderful details! really good the fact that it has full interiors, not forgetting toilets, for all of our minifig needs. have a nice lego day mrBlue
  18. clever and compact solution! but... PF train remote control already has a speed regulator which increase the speed by steps (not variable), so I don't see the point of adding more speeds. or maybe I am missing something... have a nice lego day mrBlue

    The Evolution of LEGO sorting

...and I'm at the stage of planning the new house around my lego room! all old lego sorted by shape, not color, all unopened sets not sorted, but piled in my small lego room (cannot get inside the room anymore, and cannot close the door as well!), and all the once built sets now inside ziploc bags inside big storage boxes ready to move... and last, bricks ordered from bricklink for my next projects, all mixed together inside ziploc bags ready to be built in the not so near future! omg, it seemed to me that my lego were so well organized before reading this post! have a nice sorting lego day mrBlue

Picture Comment Challenge - Counting up the votes

2 points to Andru T - Jack: "So long freaks, and thanks for all the fish!" being a fan of that movie and reading this, made me really laugh! 1 point to Daan Bargerbos - Jack: "Really guys: this fish is healthy, but wait for the kraken, it is even better!" and for this, it really sound like something that the real Jack Sparrow would say!

    MOC Buildings

personally I would not be angry if someone copy one of my moc and use it in his layout (it would make me very proud of my creation), and I would not be angry as well if someone take inspiration to make a mod of my moc and post it, as long as there is a credit, but I don't see the point of making a copy and post it in a forum... copy to increase your personal experience it's ok though! have a nice lego day mrBlue

    MOC Buildings

it may sounds weird, but sometimes when I see a MOC I really like, I try to copy it. in this way you'll discover and learn many new techniques for building your own MOC in the future! the good way is to make your copy as close in details as the original. following this "rule" you'll be forced to find out the new snot (stud not on top) and so on techniques used by the best lego moc-ers out there and then have new ideas for your future creations. nb: I'm not saying to copy a building and make it yours!!! have a nice lego day mrBlue edit: spelling check

What got you into Lego Trains?

since when I was a kid I have always been crazy for trains and aircrafts, and that time my parents started to buy lego and non lego trains for my collection, until the 12v gray era. after my dark age, I started to collect lego again, but only star wars, no more trains in my mind, mainly because of the lack of space for a layout. but then came the emerald night! and from that moment I started to look for older 9v trains too. that's all! have a nice train lego day mrBlue

    Balancing Towns with Trainyards

talking about this b&w idea, I remember I saw here, not long time ago, a small diorama of a wonderful steam era station with a loco stopping by. I'm quite sure the photo was in b&w and the real brick colors were very close to the gray gradient (but I may be wrong). maybe someone here could help to find that topic back. I remember it looked like a scene coming out of a painting! anyway, I agree with the fact that a diorama would get a better chance of good execution than a big or even small layout. have a nice train lego day mrBlue edit: spelling check

    Balancing Towns with Trainyards

@Bricktrix: I have always been a big fan of your works, and both layouts are wonderful. I like the first because you have a lot of space to "work" (have to read "play") with your cargo trains, and your second layout is a truly a piece of art. if I were you, I would not finish that and I'll keep the center part with the station finished, with all those "non-lego" details, and the outer parts just the way they are. this setup imho will be able to show the difference betwen a "just lego" layout and one with a special touch! I used to have a N scale layout with all those look like real life things, and even if I'm now a lego purist, the pictures I have seen are redeeming me a bit! have a nice train lego day mrBlue
