[WIP] 1/10th Scale Dune Buggy And Stadium Truck

Good idea of a Project. I Would love to be able to make 1/8 or 1/10 scale buggy out of lego. As for motors. I like some really cool creations out of lego, but a good few of them use buggy motors. Thats one part I dont want to go in to hassle of getting and setting up as an Casual AFOL. Buying 4 L Motors sounds a lot better and easier then buying any buggy motors and all neded stuff on Bricklinks.- 13 replies

News The LEGO Movie: 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow
shadowhearth replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I want it so much, but the price.... Man... that price... considering it is their own license Set 250eu in Ireland is taking a piss. 169£ in UK... If I would live closer to North Ireland I would just ask my friends to buy it, and save almost 50eu... I was planing on Collecting Lego Movie sets, but I am already pushed off a bit as I doubt I will ever be able to buy this beast. :(- 158 replies

42030 - Volvo L350F Wheel Loader
shadowhearth replied to AndroTech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I would actually love those trucks themselves! Fully RC would be great! I guess those trucks were only for Demo to play with. so many panels used in them. Would not be cost efficient for lego. :( -

As a Petrolhead I HATE Stance thing in Cars and the Sooner it dies, the better. Lets hope it wont taint LEGO too! Other then that, it does look cool. -

Question: are those standart rims that you can get from other sets or those rims are specially for these tires? I think I will be getting this set and those wheels will get in handy, but I dont want them in yellow. -

B model is really nice, but ( always, But, I know ) I hate when they do non solid wall construction like that. It does make it unusable for playing too... -

Did you see that New Agents Lego theme? What is most interesting that one of the sets ( that big truck ) comes with lots of black technic panels. Might be interesting source of black panels later on when these sets go on sale: http://www.thebrickfan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/500xNx12212038034_3e514c920a_o.jpg.pagespeed.ic.W6nq1gaSLR.jpg -

I was just wondering.... Does it really make sense making Licensed Models of such heavy Machinery? Lets think about it. Such Volvo would be a rare item. Most likely kids never sow these in real life and a very small %%% of adults could relate to such Machinery. For most of us ( I guess ) this Front loader looks like generic Construction vehicle and most likely we see it for the first time or we would not even knew what model and brand that thing is ( if noboy would say its Volvo ) For example, if we got a Licensed set of "Land Rover" or some iconic truck like "Peterbilt", or even Sports car like "BMW M3". Wouldnt a lot more people be interested in such licensed set? The Vehicles that a lot more people could relate to or even own? Surely even people who are not in to lego would like it? I know some people who are not in to Lego, but they LOVED their VW Camper Van Lego set. TL:DR version: Why paying and making licensed sets where Licensed adds very little to actual Set? Wouldnt set be better off being non Licensed and saved money spent on actual design and increased part count? Or if you do use License then choose a better brand and object that people could relate to? -

Its ugly... It really screams for face lift... and its not even out yet lol! All the red parts and red Panels - Great. Maybe with this set, it would be cheaper making your own 8258? The red panel price will drop like an anvil on Bricklink. -

All I can see - a great collection of Motors, IR receivers ( V2 ), good wheels and all non yellow parts for mocs... I thought I dont like MK2 crane, but now design wise it is actually very cool looking where this... is sort of a mess... Its not something that looks "nice!" My bet is its a 199eu set. I would love to pick it purely for mocs, but as a set it self I dont like it. Something to pick up on sale some day.
