The Council of Elrond (expanded set)

Nice job. I like how the other 3 hobbits are hiding behind the columns. Boromir seems to be sitting next to many dwarves... Maybe swap Thorin for anohter human?

    LEGO Glorfindel

Not very good but a start is to use some of the pieces (armor or torso) from the Jayko knight. Replace arms for LBG color and the legs could be plain LBG or some other legs from other figure. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=M&catString=9.536

    MOC: Mini Modular Apartments

Nicely done. I like the bench in the backside.
  4. Maybe asking on the Bricklink forum for stores that have store fronts?

[MOC] Yoda and Luke on Dagobah

The water is awesome, and the cross-sectional view of the water too. I believe you used this piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=57895&colorID=15 but I am still not completely sure from the picture.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Regarding the battle packs: A set like the mirkwood spiders but for LOTR would be nice, 4 elf soldiers (battle of Helm's deep type) and some trees and landscape piece to justify the set size.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

I agree with the cook, these are new arches a 1x3x3 version of the 1x3x2 pictured above if you would like to think of it this way. What is more puzzling for me is what is going on on the back, we see an arch piece there too but it is hard to guess the dimensions if it were a 1x12x3 that would be great! or even 2 half 1x6x3's imagine the latter in reddish brown!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Arwen looks fantastic. I agree that the spinning features look pointless. If the whole oval sectional plate where Gandalf stands would spin that would be better, but as it seems from the picture it seems like only the black circle with the Palantir could spin.

    Modular Madness

Even though the info provided above is more than enough to answer your question, I also suggest that you download the free building instructions from LEGO for some of the modulars. That should give you inspiration and is easy to measure all the dimensions you might need for compatibility. Here is an example link and the other ones are easy to find there: http://cache.lego.com/bigdownloads/buildinginstructions/4657774.pdf

When is the official date of the start of the contest? The date of this post? Or will you state a specific starting date? I would assume that since the prizes have not yet been announced, the contest has not officially started? [i would assume that there are several users (like me) who have lurked EB for quite a while but forgot/did not feel the need to register because they are not so vocal. Giving a small grace period of say a week from the post to the start of the contest, would not hurt the veterans that much, and would motivate several guests to join. OK this is just MHO. Thank you either way. ]
