    [MOC] Zoids

Amazing work! I love Zoids; I have over a hundred. It's great to see some MOCs of them!

    UK Sales

The Smyths sale is in store as well, and it's REALLY good; the discounts apply to EVERYTHING, including ALL Lego, and some Lego sets are already discounted as it is. I picked up the Technic 42000 Grand Prix Racer today - it was already reduced from £79.99 to £67.99 (i think) and with the 20% discount on top of that it came in at just under £55.
  3. Great review, as always! And what a gorgeous design; this takes the original Crawler and turns the cool factor up to 11. If I could afford to splash out on it, LOVE that license plate idea. I would in a heartbeat.
  4. Perfectly put Blakbird. I'm still getting back into building with Lego, and since I stopped an entirely new way of building Technic has come out. It's been pretty much like starting from scratch all over again. Building other people's MOCs is helping me get a handle on how SNOT building works. I can't thank the people who take the time to prepare their plans & put them out enough.

    What did you buy today?

    9398 Rock Crawler & 6227 Breez. :)
  6. There is one eBay seller offering repro sheets; he's based in Greece. I don't know what the quality is like, but his feedback is solid & prices seem pretty good. He's got an auction showing scans of 4 sets but says he can do others on request. I don't know if posting a link to him would be frowned on or not & I wouldn't want to annoy anyone, so I'll refrain from doing so. If it's OK with the mods I'll edit this post to include the link. I couldn't find a decent sized scan of the sticker sheet for 8448, so I made one myself. (It's not 100% accurate but it's pretty darn close); I just need to print them out. Does anyone have any recommendations for the right type of sticker material to print these out on?

    Hero Factory 2013

I'm loving this line. However I did mod Pyrox to give him more bull-like legs & bulkier shoulders, and gave Scarox's arms a spring loaded action.
  8. Thank you for the great review! What a gorgeous looking set. It's next on my Supercar shopping list. I have 853/956 and 8860, so this is the next logical step, followed by 8880. I also have 8448 & 8070, so I really want to fill that 2 set gap in my supercars!

    Hero Factory 2013

I'll definitely be picking up Jet Rocka, Surge & Dragon Bolt. I'll probably wait for reviews on here before I get the others unless something changes.
  10. That looks gorgeous. I'd buy a set of that in a heartbeat!
  11. Happy New Year all! Here's to much building! :)

I picked up Hero Factory Surge & Ninjago Skull Truck. :)

Asda have the Ninjago 2056 Skull Truck for 18.99. Well worth picking up too, especially at that price.
  14. That is gorgeous. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
  15. This was the very first Technic set I ever had as a kid. Thank you for the review!
  16. I HAD to vote for 8860; it was my first big Technical set. I remember getting it for my birthday; I went into the huge Co-Op in Luton (which isn't even there any more) and my parent bought it for me. We then went off to visit relatives, and I wasn't allowed to open it until we got home that evening. An absolutely torturous wait for a kid who'd just been given such an amazing set, but SO worth it!

    Set 827!

That was my very first Technic set when I was a kid! I finally got hold of a replacement one a few weeks ago (the old one I used to have has so much missing now, it was cheaper to just replace it!)

    Vampire GT

I've just finished building the red Vampire GT, so I thought I'd put up a couple of shots. I didn't have enough grey to build the chassis, so I went with black: I used black & light grey for the seats, and dark grey for the dash. I didn't have any plain white tiles to use for the license plates so I had to use the ones from 8448. I also used the silver parts from 8448 for the Vampire's exhaust pipes. For the bodywork I used red, but went with 2 rows of black round the bottom edge: I also put a couple of black panels in front of the dash, just to close the gap up. The HOG steering still works fine: SUCH a fun build. I estimate it took about 9 hours (in evenings and a longer session on Friday), and worth every second. Great work, Paul!
  19. I love the site, Technicmad. However I encountered an odd problem earlier on; after inputting 907 parts into "My Parts", I then exported it as a Peeron TSV. As an experiment I then deleted all those parts and imported the TSV back in again; it would only import a shade over 550 parts, and listed a long list of errors for the parts it couldn't import. Most of the errors involved not being able to find the part in the specified colour, despite me having picked those parts from the Rebrickable database.
  20. I'd definitely be interested in reading them. I'm saving up to get a Mindstorms set at the moment, and I know full well I'll be wanting to branch out and try other sensors than the ones in the set. It's be very useful indeed to know which ones are worth looking at.

    Appreciation

I completely agree! I also got back into Lego as a way to keep busy and take my mind of severe depression, and it's done wonders for me. Seeing the amazing creations people on here show has inspired me and given me a level of skill to aim for. Thank you all!
  22. That was what I meant; you buying his Lego helped him get going with it. Speaking of money, time to get saving. I want some of this.
  23. This is fascinating. I love the concept of being able to design whatever RC vehicle you feel like, build it, have fun with it, then remake it into whatever vehicle you feel like doing next. It's expensive, but it looks like SO much fun. You must get quite a kick knowing you helped this happen!

Babylon 5 interviews, artwork and other stuff

Yes. Foundation Imaging started out on Amigas and used them for at least the first season. I believe the pilot was done using Amiga 2000s fitted with a Video Toaster cards & early versions of Lightwave 3D. I know that's what Ron Thornton designed the original models on anyway (I know this because it's what inspired me to start learning Lightwave myself). I don't know what Netter digital used when they took over though; I suspect they'd moved onto Lightwave for PC by then, after Newtek unbundled it from the Video Toaster & started selling it separately.
  25. I must admit, I've found it quite a challenge getting to grips with studless construction after so long out of the hobby (I stopped in the early 90s, and only recently got back into Lego with 9395). It's a very interesting way of working, and I think I'm getting the hang of it now. I'm spotting ways of doing things I would have previously done with studded, but I still have a fair way to go before I'm ready to show anything off here.
